The face of education is rapidly changing. More than ever, school district administrators are expected to master those changes while managing all the logistics that go into making a school district successful. Superintendents and central office administrators are responsible for providing leadership, professional development, and infrastructure for everyone in the district, from the central office to teachers and support staff in the schools.

Advance your career
SPU’s Executive Leadership program emphasizes the knowledge and skills you will need for district-level administrative assignments in the P–12 school setting, such as superintendent, assistant superintendent, director, and other similar roles.
Superintendent Certification*
Designed for working professionals, coursework and internships in this program are based on a two-year cohort model that, if qualified, leads to a Washington Superintendent Certificate. The schedule allows you to attend classes while maintaining your work responsibilities. Courses meet once per month on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning, either on campus or synchronously online.
Further your education by earning your EdD
Doctor of Education (EdD)
The superintendent certification program meets the majority of the specialization requirements for SPU’s Doctor of Education. SPU offers an accelerated option that would allow you to complete both in three years.

Eligibility requirements
Executive Leadership program
Iindividuals who have a prerequisite principal, teacher, or program administrator certificate will be eligible to apply for a superintendent certificate after completing the executive leadership program. If you do not hold a prerequisite certificate, you will be eligible for a residency program administrator certificate.
