About our school:
Middle school is a critical time for development, especially for girls. As girls reach early adolescence, their self-esteem and interest in certain subjects is likely to plummet as a result of being bombarded by conflicting messages about femininity and achievement. Seattle Girls’ School combats the trend of girls losing confidence before competence, especially in STEM subjects. Our project-based curriculum—grounded in real-world experiences—offers opportunities for leadership, collaboration and problem solving. Students connect academic studies with current events, selfawareness, and collaboration. This results in highly confident graduates who succeed in high school, college and beyond.
What kids will love:
• Our project-based curriculum gives students the opportunities to become entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, game developers, lawyers and much more. • In each grade, students take their studies outside of the classroom on various day and overnight field trips. • Students develop long-lasting friendships and support systems with peers, mentors and teachers.
What parents will love:
• Students feel safe and challenged, making them more willing to explore their strengths and examine areas for growth. • Students learn critical thinking through an anti-bias lens that address issues of difference and oppression. • Students find their voices, giving them confidence to celebrate who they are and what they believe in.
