SYMPOSIUM EVENING EVENTS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21—7:30 pm Welcome Dinner—The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom You know us—any excuse for a good party. Our welcome event will be just that. During our plated dinner, we will be entertained by L.A. hip-hop violin virtuoso Peter Lee Johnson. After the meal we’ll move some tables off the dance floor and get down to business with tracks laid down by Amelia Island’s top DJ company, Island Sound. If you feel like dressing up in cocktail attire, this is the night to do it. FRIDAY, JANUARY 23—8:30 pm Evening Café with Judith Owen & Friends—The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom Sit back and get ready to laugh as we begin Friday night with comedian Ross Bennett. Ross has been headlining comedy clubs around the country for the last 30 years and recently appeared on the David Letterman show. His comedy is clean, but hysterical and will surely entertain you. The fun won’t stop there! We will welcome back the lovely Judith Owen to the Symposium stage. Judith is a singer-songwriter with a beautiful voice as well as a wonderfully entertaining personality. A trademark of her career has been her irreverent ability to subvert well-known songs with unexpected and improbable covers. She is joined this time by Leland “Lee” Sklar, one of the most famous bassists who can be heard on over 2,000 albums for music icons, including James Taylor, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Hall & Oates, B.B. King, The Doors, Peter Frampton, David Bowie and countless others. The incredibly talented, drummer and percussionist Pedro Segundo will also join Owen and Sklar on the main stage. This night is sure to have you laughing, moving and grooving. SATURDAY, JANUARY 24—6:30 pm A Musical Celebration with Allen Stone—The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom Neo-soul rocker Allen Stone is the headliner of our casual farewell event. If you don’t know this crooner from Washington State, you’ll likely be surprised by his retro-hippy appearance (Didn’t we just drop those clothes off at Goodwill?) which contrasts markedly with his melodic, Motown-inspired ballads. Our dinner buffet will be equally mixed-up. Attire is casual, although it would be really funny if we all dressed like Allen Stone. Just kidding! [7]
