Bishop’s Epistle

CONFRONTED BY CHALLENGES PRAY WITHOUT CEASING! Sons and Daughters in Light, God’s Grace to You!

T

he passage of Scripture that reads: “Pray without ceasing.” (II Thessalonians 5:17) This comes out the context of verses 16-22.

Prayer is the essential key-----daily and hourly prayer. In fact, making all of life a prayer puts everything into the perspective of praise, confession, intercession, and supplication. All of life is a gift of the Lord’s grace. Praising Him for all that happens to and around us, the positive and the perplexing channels of His grace. When the saints fail, His grace abounds. The saints do not have to atone for ourselves---forgiveness is offered before we ask. When we are confronted by challenges, opportunities, or difficulties, we can spread them out before the Lord and He graciously gives us exactly what we need when we need it. And then, when people’s needs stress us and we are broken in our own inability to meet their needs, we are given the assurance that our prayers for them will release the power of the Lord in their problems, illnesses, and discouragements. This is what God means as he speaks through the apostle Paul to share with the saints at Thessalonica Church by praying without ceasing. When we really dare to feel deeply our own and others’ needs, only the Lord’s grace is sufficient. Prayer is like breathing, prayer continues in every waking and sleeping moment. Breath is the “Ruach” of God. Our prayers always begin with God, seep into our hearts, and we return the prayers unto Him. A Christian brother once said: “There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than of a continual conversation with God.” Amen Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully
