I Corinthians 3:16, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

The answer to the first question is NO! If you have had to cancel or postpone your annual health screening, due to COVID-19, rescheduling your annual health screening is recommended. To name only a few, preventive measures such as mammograms, PAP smears, colonoscopies, laboratory tests, and other health screenings are an essential part of maintaining good health. The pandemic has shifted our attention and focus on COVID-19. It’s easy to forget about staying up to date on our annual health screenings and health issues. This information is intended to help you understand the importance of getting back on track with your regular annual health screenings and physical exams. Your health care provider can help you determine which health screenings are best for you at this time, based on everyone’s health history, risks, and benefits. For Kids: We all want our little ones to be as healthy as possible. Protecting our kids from infectious diseases is more important than ever. Making sure they stay up to date on their vaccines is more important than ever. According to Dr. Rachel Thornton, M.D., Ph.D, “Childhood vaccinations can prevent illness such as measles, mumps, and pertussis”. (Thornton, 2020). Nutrition and exercise should also be included as a part of our children’s overall health management. Psalm 127:3 states, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” For Women A PAP smear is when the health care provider collects and examines cells from your cervix. This test can detect certain cancers of the cervix as well as viral conditions. If detected soon, it reduces the possibility of the patient developing cervical cancer. How often you should have this screening will vary based on your age and risk factors. Your health care provider will let you know how often you should have this screening. A mammogram is the use of an x-ray to examine the breast for diagnosis and screening. This test is beneficial for early detection of breast cancer, masses, and other abnormalities. Talk to your health care provider about when to schedule this screening. (CDC, 2020)
