Lindsay Hamon Carried 12-Foot Cross Worldwide for 26 Years
A British man dedicated to spreading the message of Christ spent the last 26 years carrying a 12-foot wooden cross around the globe. Lindsay Hamon, 60, from Camborne, Cornwall, has visited 19 countries including India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh as he continues on his journey hoping to inspire those he may come across during his travels. Hamon began carrying the 12 x 6 foot cedar wood cross in 1987 when he decided that he was going to take up God's calling and travel the globe talking about Jesus to anyone who will listen. Some might wonder how he is able to carry such a large object, but Hamon attached a small wheel at the base of the cross to make it easier to walk with. He usually carries the cross over his shoulder for more than 12 hours a day. Hamon has been mobbed by locals in foreign countries wanting to hear him speak, even if they didn t understand English, but language has never been a barrier. Often I will pray in English he says. Sometimes you get people who translate for you, I had one young boy who came out of nowhere when I was talking to around 20 or 30 people and he just translated everything. When it was done he just disappeared, I never knew who he was or where he came from, it s amazing.

Diocese offers recipe for reviving paschal tradition
New Delhi: The newly created Syro Malabar diocese in the national capital territory has distributed a recipe to cook a traditional Paschal meal in an effort to revive the age-old customs of this oriental church among its young generation. The young migrants have forgotten our local customs. Many of them do not know how to prepare" the Pesaha appam (paschal bread) and pal (milk drink) as part of Maundy Thursday observation in Syro-Malabar families, says Archbishop Kuriakose Bharanikulangara of Faridabad diocese. The archbishop said his diocese created a year ago has distributed a leaflet containing the recipe to all its parishes spread over the National Capital Region, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Traditional families join together to prepare the rice bread and drink made of coconut milk after the Maundy Thursday Church service in the morning. By evening, the eldest in the family cut the bread after reading the Old Testament narration of "Passover feast." He then offers pieces of bread to each in the family."The celebration is a local version of the Israelites' Passover rites and Christ's Last Supper. The preparation for "pesaha appam" starts a week before Holy Thursday. We dry rice and grind them a week before," said Chinnmma Chacko, 82. The head of the family makes a cross from the palm leaf collected from the parish church on Palm Sunday and places it on the dough. Then the dough is cooked in steam. The diocese caters to more than 100,000 Catholics.

Diocese Adopts 900 Children On Easter Eve Amritsar: The Church of North India s Amritsar diocese has adopted 900 indigent children to look after their educational and nutritional needs. The diocese took the initiative on March 30, the eve of Easter. The diocese, which recently celebrated its diamond jubilee, vowed to initiate more social outreach projects that not only empower the masses, but also complement the government's initiatives on education and malnutrition. This program is based on a survey conducted by the diocese two years ago. Talking about the project, Bishop Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy of the diocese said the diocese had been taking care of these children's academic and dietary needs for the past two years. He said the endeavour was aimed at complementing the government's initiatives on social outreach, education and health. "There is a marked improvement in the physical and mental well-being of these 900 children since we took them under our care," he said. He maintained that the previously lean, listless and academically weak children were now known to be
showing interest in sports and academics. The bishop said the children were also taught about the benefits of keeping their surroundings clean and consuming healthy food. "They have now become harbingers of change in the localities that they reside in as they can be seen taking a keen interest not only in academics and sports, but also in keeping their surroundings clean and ensuring that people living around them know all that they need to know about cleanliness and consuming healthy food," he said. The bishop said that even the families of these children had started getting actively involved in the initiative. "Easter is about the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. It is a celebration of His victory over the powers of darkness and evil that prevents people from living life to the fullest," he said. The bishop said the diocese wants to take the message of Easter to the masses by doing all that it possibly can to dispel the darkness of illiteracy and malnutrition by adopting more children from economically backward families.

Italy Blinks
The Italian Government could have spared itself the ignominy of being humbled for its uncalled for defiance of an undertaking given as a sovereign nation through its diplomatic mission in India to the highest Court of this country. It had shown magnanimity in allowing the two accused marines to go home to vote in their national elections which itself became a subject matter of national debate. Similarly, it was unusual to allow them to go home to enjoy Christmas turkey. Not many are as lucky. This unprecedented situation gave the Indian Opposition parties enough ammunition to taunt the Government for being too indulgent to Italy for obvious reasons. A red faced Government was left with no alternative but to talk tough and warn the Italian Government of serious consequences. They held back the Indian envoy from taking office in that country. An agitated Supreme Court was livid and even barred the Italian Ambassador from leaving the country. That nailed it. While the opposition parties were berating the Government for its spineless approach because of the Italian connection, the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi blamed the Italians for going back on their promise. The Italians were brought to their senses by this tough talk. They sheepishly sent back the marines before the deadline. They held a late night press conference [an unusual time for such briefing] to tell the world that the assurance of no death penalty clicked the issue. Now the issue has become complicated back home with the Foreign Minister of Italy resigning in protest. The President and the Prime Minister were not in favour as the country risked being isolated. The Italian PM actually admitted this. That was the real issue not death sentence. By saying that they sent the marines back on India s assurance is simply misleading. *****

VIEWS on NEWS verdict, Sanjay Dutt kept away from media glare for a few days to ponder over his options. He also gauged the public response vis-à-vis the stand taken by his Bollywood and other wellwishers who wanted to seek clemency for him from the Governor of Maharashtra. He read the writing on the wall vociferous opposition for such a move and finally decided that he will not opt for pardon but instead surrender to the authorities as per the diktat of the apex court. By taking this stand, when he broke down in front of the media, he has raised his stock. In fact, now there is public sympathy for him. All this while, the public perception was different. The type of weapons, ammunition and hand grenades were definitely not meant for personal safety. If they were meant for his legitimate safety, where was the need to try and destroy them? Surprisingly, his friends have pronounced that he was innocent . This amounts to questioning the judicial findings. Now they want the Governor to pardon him. Gubernatorial clemency is certainly not meant for people convicted for anti-national activities. This hype may be actually counter-productive as it will weaken the case. In fact he was lucky not to be tried under TADA. That itself appeared to be a conspiracy thanks to his father s long association with Congress as well as others in Shiv Sena. When you associate with people who masterminded the blasts, you pay the price. It was not a case of being dragged in. So the sympathy factor should find no place. For his Bollywood friends to say that he has suffered for so many years is making a mockery of things. The commercial angle is also there with many movies in the making. The producers are likely to get affected but did they not know that some day the verdict would be out. Many other convicts suffer not only mentally but also financially without any reason Bollywood remains silent. They only wait for a chance to make a movie on such issues instead, imply for mon-

The Mumbai Police Chief needs to be complimented for his bold stand on the issue of unjustified assault on the Police Officer who had done his duty. These are the same leaders sitting in the august assembly making laws for us lesser mortals to follow. They can defy such laws. There are special guidelines from the government to civil servants and police force to treat politicians with dignity but is silent on MLAs being above law. If the police chief was not tough enough, they would have escaped the attendant consequences of being locked up overnight before the court remanded them to judicial custody. MNS Chief., Raj Thackeray deserves to be complimented. He did not even take the call from his MLA who was one of the accused. Otherwise, we could have expected some law and order problem. Let him face the music he said. It is unfortunate that R.R. Patil should have tried to placate the agitated MLAs whose ego was hurt. The CM too succumbed to the pressure. It sends wrong signal when a Police Officer is allowed to be beaten up inside the Assembly complex and then suspend him for doing his duty. It is sad that they also suspended another police official for entering the assembly complex without a pass though he was accompanying his superior who was not suspended. Now they have set up a panel and want the victim to appear before it. The Home Minister says the footage is useless but let the cops decide that.

Australia: An Australian nun, who served in India as a missionary, would take the first step toward sainthood this week. Sr. Mary Glowrey, who went to Guntur in Andhra Pradesh in 1920 at the age of 33, would be declared a Servant of God in India on March 27, the initial step to become a Catholic saint. She came to India as a missionary with the Society of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and founded the Catholic Health Association. The announcement of her declaration as Servant of God would be made by Bishop Gail Bali at the Chrism Mass in the Guntur diocese. The campaign to have her can-
onized started to gather pace in India and Australia in the last 10 years, said Anna Krohn, national bioethics convener of the Catholic Women s League Australia. Sr. Glowrey was born in Victoria in 1887, studied medicine and worked in the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Saint Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne as well as had a private practice. She later founded the Catholic Women's League (CWL) of Victoria and in Wagga Wagga. She is the second Australian to be placed on the process of canonization. The first Australian saint who was canonized in 2010 was Sr. Mary MacKillop, who once was excommunicated.

Nun Commits Suicide Coimbatore: A Catholic nun allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Coimbatore. Angeline Nirmala Reena took the extreme step on March 30 and informed the fellow nuns that she had consumed pesticide and fell unconscious while having breakfast. The 26-year-old nun was taken to a private hospital at R S Puram where she was given first aid. She was transferred to St Maris Hospital at Podanur for further treatment. She died at the hospital. The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem. However, the relatives of the deceased refused to accept her body after postmortem, alleging that she was tortured by church authorities. On Sunday morning, her relatives blocked the ambulance in which the body was being transported by the church authorities to Puliyakulam burial ground. They demanded action against church authorities and nuns for the death. They also demanded the appearance of the bishop in person at the CMCH to explain what had happened to the nun. Alish Reta Mary, mother of the deceased, said her daughter took the extreme step after she was tortured mentally. A Charles Irudhayaraj, brother of the deceased said her sister was
studying BA (English literature) final year at Nirmala College for Women at Race Course. She was tortured by a nun. When she lodged a complaint about this with the authorities, they failed to take necessary action. She could not bear the torture and took the extreme step," he alleged. Seven nuns, who were present at the CMCH refused to talk to the media. Police pacified the relatives and later the body was sent to the burial ground. "We are interrogating a few nuns and church authorities. We will be able to ascertain the reason for her death only after a detailed investigation," said a police official of the R S Puram police station. Sr. Reena became a nun in 2004 and devoted her life to the Roman Catholic Church, police said. She was staying on the campus of St John De Britto Church situated on Lawley Road, along with other nuns, for the past four months.

The Non-Flying Falcon
Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained. Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived. The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly. He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem. So he cried out to his court, Go and get a farmer. In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his courtiers, Bring me the doer of this miracle. The courtiers quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, How did you manage to make the falcon fly? With head bowed, the farmer said to the king, It was very easy. I simply cut the branch of the tree on which the bird was sitting. We are all made to fly to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But instead of doing that, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, and the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling. So let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight. Traditionalists Are Less Than Delighted With The New Pope Since the moment of his election on March 13, Pope Francis has been warmly embraced by his own flock and even the media and the wider public in a way his bookish predecessor, Benedict XVI, was not. Polls show that anywhere from 73 percent to 88 percent of American Catholics say they are happy with the selection of Francis, as opposed to about 60 percent who were happy with the choice of Benedict and many of those are extremely pleased with the new pope. Such an effusive welcome is especially good news for Catholic leaders who spent years fending off criticism of Vatican dysfunction under Benedict and a cloud of scandal and crisis at home. And the hot start for Francis is also crucial in building up a reservoir of good will that will be needed when the new pope refuses to bend on unpopular teachings or commits a gaffe of his own. Yet even as the former Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio basks in this broad approval as Pope Francis, some constituencies in the Catholic Church are cautious or even angry at his election, and their concern has only grown in the early days of his pontificate.
Something is profoundly wrong
Chief among the critics are the liturgical traditionalists who reveled in Benedict s exaltation of old-fashioned ways, and are now watching in horror as Francis rejects the extravagant vestments and highchurch rituals that were in en vogue for the past eight years. A Pope Francis problem
The same could be said of politically conservative Catholics, especially those from the U.S. who have enjoyed access and approval in Rome for decades, under both Benedict and the late John Paul II. Their concerns, while expressed in more muted tones, are tied to a number of markers: Francis is a Jesuit, for one thing, and even though he is considered a relatively conservative member of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits are considered notorious by the Catholic right. Their list of alleged faults is long they advocate engagement with the world, they have shown a willingness to criticize the hierarchy, and they have embraced a radical com-
mitment to the poor. That last one is a priority for Francis as he sharply critiqued unfettered capitalism and austerity politics, even taking on the name of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the poor. Indeed, the new pope would likely be considered too liberal for a prime time speaking slot at the 2016 (Democratic) convention, Charles Camosy, a theologian at Fordham University in New York, wrote in a Washington Post column titled, Republicans have a Pope Francis problem. St. Francis is also an icon of environmentalism, which the new pope has similarly embraced. That discomfits some conservatives as does praise for Francis from liberation theologians like Leonardo Boff and Jon Sobrino. Rumors are already afoot that Francis might beatify slain Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was killed by a right-wing death squad for speaking out against injustice.

What Are The Masons? Q. Recently, a friend invited me to join the Masons. What are the Masons? Are Catholics allowed to belong to this organization?

efore addressing the question at hand, let's first consider the organization itself. The origins of the Masons or what is officially called freemasonry are hard to pinpoint. With the decline of cathedral building in the aftermath of the Protestant movement, mason guilds began accepting non-masons as members to bolster their dwindling membership. Eventually, the non-masons outnumbered the masons, and the guilds became places for the discussion of ethics and morality while retaining the secret signs, symbols and gestures of the original guild. Four such guilds merged in 1717 in London, England, to form the Grand Lodge of Freemasons. (A "freemason" was a highly skilled mason who enjoyed the privileges of membership in a trade guild.) Masons gradually spread throughout the world. Old "handbooks" of freemasonry define the organization as "a peculiar system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols," "a science which is engaged in the search after the divine truth," and "the activity of closely united men who, employing symbolical forms borrowed principally from the mason's trade and from architecture, work for the welfare of mankind, striving morally to ennoble themselves and others and thereby to bring about a universal league of mankind which they aspire to exhibit even now on a small scale." James Anderson (d. 1739), a Scottish Presbyterian minister, wrote the Book of Constitutions in which he contrived the "traditional" albeit spurious history of freemasonry. Masons hold that God, "the Great Architect," founded freemasonry, and that it had as patrons, Adam and the Patriarchs. Even Jesus is listed as "the Grand Master" of the Christian Church. They credit themselves with the building of

In all, freemasonry borrows liberally from the history and traditions of cultic groups such as the Druids, Mithars, Egyptian priesthood, Rosicrucians and others to weave its own history. The Catholic Church has difficulty with freemasonry because it is indeed a kind of religion unto itself. The practice of freemasonry includes temples, altars, a moral code, worship services, vestments, feast days, a hierarchy of leadership, initiation and burial rites, and promises of eternal reward and punishment. While in America, most Masons are Christian and will display a Bible on their "altar," in the same lodges or elsewhere, Jews, Muslims, Hindus or other non-Christian religions can be admitted and may use their own sacred Scriptures. (In France, in 1877, the "Grand Orient" Lodge eliminated the need to believe in God or the immortality of the soul, thereby admitting atheists into their fold. This atheistic type of freemasonry spread particularly in Latin countries.) Moreover, the rituals involve the corruption of Christianity. The cross is merely a symbol of nature and eternal life, devoid of Christ's sacrifice for sin. INRI (for Christians, Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, i.e. Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews) means for Masons Igne Natura Renovatur Integra, i.e. by fire nature is renewed entirely, referring to the sacred fire's (i.e. truth and love) regeneration of mankind just as the sun regenerates nature in the spring. The rituals are also inimical to Catholicism. During the initiation rite, the candidate expresses a desire to seek "light," and he is assured that he will receive the light of spiritual instruction that he could not receive in another Church. Moreover, he will gain eternal rest in the "celestial lodge" if he lives and dies according to Masonic prin-
ciples. Note also that since Masonry involves non-Christians, the use of the name of Jesus is forbidden within the lodge. For Catholics, (and hopefully all sincere Christians), Christ alone is the light who entered this world to dispel sin and darkness. A strong anti-Catholicism also permeates freemasonry. The two traditional enemies of freemasonry are the royalty and the papacy. Masons even believe that Christ, dying on Calvary, was "the greatest among the apostles of Humanity, braving Roman despotism and the fanaticism and bigotry of the priesthood." When a Mason reaches the 30th degree in the Masonic hierarchy, called the Kadosh, the person crushes with his foot the papal tiara and the royal crown, and swears to free mankind "from the bondage of Despotism and the thraldom of spiritual tyranny." Now pause for a moment: Would a sincere Catholic commit such an action? In a word, "no." A second difficulty with freemasonry for Catholics involves the taking of oaths. An oath is a religious act which asks God to witness the truth of the statement or the fulfillment of a promise. Only the Church and the state for serious reason can require an oath. A candidate makes an oath to freemasonry and its secrets, under pain of death or self-mutilation, by kneeling blindfolded in front of the altar, placing both hands on the volume of sacred law (perhaps even the Bible), the square, and compass, and repeating after the "worshipful master." Keep in mind that the candidate does not yet even know all the "secrets" to which he is taking an oath. This oath is wrongful because of to whom and to what the candidate is swearing.

London: The inquest into the death of an Indian Catholic nurse, who allegedly committed suicide following a hoax call, would begin on May 2. In a statement read by MP Keith Vaz on behalf of the nurse s family in the Westminster Coroner s Court, he said, Today marks the beginning of the end as far the legal process is concerned but it does not take away the terrible grief the family is still suffering. The next few weeks are going to be very difficult for the family until May 2 when, of course, the inquest will begin, he added. These have been dreadful, dreadful weeks and months for the family. March 29th : Good Friday service was observed at St. Joseph s Parish grounds with devotion. There were two services at 5.30pm and 8.30 p.m respectively. Thousands of faithful participated in the liturgical service. The passion of our Lord was sung and Rev. Fr. Archie Gonsalves, Provincial of Kartaka Goa Maharastra, broke the Word of God. He spoke about the Importance of the Cross and Suffering . Finally he said that if we put love in our suffering only than we come out victorious. The faithful participated in the service with devotion and venerated the Cross.
The parish had one more great reason to celebrate because 30 brothers and sisters were baptized during the mass and entered the catholic sheepfold during Easter Vigil Mass (Mira Road)

(Israel) In part of their "Celebrating Easter" special on CBN.com, there is a video detailing the two Holy Land sites which are said to possibly be the location of the tomb in which Jesus was laid, prior to His resurrection from the dead. One site is the Garden tomb, located as the name suggests in a "2-acre oasis" near the heart of Jerusalem, believed by some to have been a garden owned by Joseph of Arimathea from the Bible. "Everything in those four Gospels matches what we show people here in the garden," Garden Tomb director, Richard Meryon told CBN. The site that others believe the actual spot where Jesus was entombed for 3 days is at the Church of the Holy Sepulechre. Regarding the Garden Tomb, guide Steve Bridge told CBN's Chris Mitchell, "The tomb we have here is typical of first century Jewish rolling stone tomb, it's dated as being at least 2,000 years old, possibly older." "It is carved out of the solid rock; it's a man-made tomb and that's how the Bible describes the tomb in which Jesus' body was laid," he noted. "Finally," added Bridge, "the most important thing about this tomb, is that it's empty."

A Church Of The Poor For The Poor
Pope Francis appears to have made this his Vision Statement. He has said nothing new. There are several Church documents that speak about the same thing. Unfortunately the translation into action has not been so pronounced. What then should be the response of the Church. By "Church", we mean, principally, not the Church as institution, but Church as the people of God. We are asking ourselves what we are doing as individual Christians and as members of Christian communities about the needs of our fellow human beings. I would like to focus on one area only - JUSTICE If it is asked "What is a Christian?" several answers can be given, but one of them will certainly have to be "A Christian is a witness." A Christian is a Christ-bearer to to-day's people - another Christ- "to bear witness to the truth" that God has revealed. God reveals Himself to us as the liberator of the oppressed and defender of the poor. To be a Christian then is to bear witness to justice by words, by deeds and by our lives. In what ways can we bear witness to justice in the world in which we live. First, by a habitual respect for the rights of others e.g. how we treat the people that report to us. Are we truly servant leaders? Second, by being conscious of how sinfully wasteful we are to the resources of our planet.e.g the manner in which we use water and energy, how we contribute to pollution. Third, to show by the simplicity of our lives that the enrichment of the human condition does not consist in having or using more things e.g to stop comparing ourselves with the Joneses. The Church is obliged to live and administer its own goods is such a

way that the Gospel is preached to the poor. Christians and Christian communities must show by their lives that they have good news - that they are good news - for the poor. Pope Francis has begun to lead by example. Just as we might budget our funds to be able to give alms, so we might budget our time to be able to give service. In doing so we share with our neighbour not only what we possess but what we are.. We might add that our service should be aimed also in helping the poor and powerless to help themselves Finally by being a witness to freedom with responsibility. The Church should not only recognize everyone's right to suitable freedom of expression and thought but should herself be a model of openness and mutual trust. Witnessing to justice naturally leads us to consider action for justice. The Church documents propose four major areas: 1. Denunciation of injustice 2. Concretely live more simply 3. No unjust profit or unjust advantage taken of people or in business. 4. Change unjust structures. It is a question of confronting Gospel values with the concrete life of to-day in its many areas. The subject is vast and will need more space for elucidation. What is important is that we once again look deeply at ourselves, the way we live and work; also the way our Small Christian Communities are organized and are running; confront both with Gospel values and challenge them to live and work for justice in our milieu.

VATICAN CITY : The Vatican on Friday (March 29) dismissed criticism of Pope Francis' decision to wash the feet of two women during a Maundy Thursday Mass at a Rome youth prison. The move has come under fire from Catholic traditionalists who say that the rite is a re-enactment of Jesus washing the feet of the 12 apostles before his death, and thus should be limited only to men. Traditionally, popes have washed the feet of 12 priests during a solemn Mass in Rome's St. John Lateran Basilica. Edward Peters, a blogger and expert in church law at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, wrote on his blog that Francis was setting a "questionable example." A 1988 letter from the Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship states that only "chosen men" can be admitted to the footwashing ceremony. But including women in the rite is a widespread practice in the United States and elsewhere. As archbishop of Buenos Aires, then-Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio regularly included women in the rite. The Vatican's chief spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the pope's decision was "absolutely licit" for a rite that is not a church sacrament. Francis also took into account "the real situation, the community where one celebrates," Lombardi added.

I recall a personal episode in the late 1990's when the Late Fr.Hugh Fonseca, one of the few activist Priests during his time, was the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Orlem, Malad West and I was the Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council of the said Parish. Hugh Fonseca was told by the concerned Bishop that washing of the Female House Workers was against the Cannon Law and was directed to abandon such a move. Fr. Hugh Fonseca was much ahead of his time and while he relented keeping in mind his obedience to his Bishop, he washed the feet of the 12 Male House Workers at the altar. But directed me to wash the feet of the selected Female House Workers at the same time in the midst of the community below the altar. Personal Habits Inventory

We are a bundle of habits whether we are aware of it or not; acknowledge it or not. A Personal Habits Inventory is a tool that acknowledges this situation, and works through positively with it. An inventory, by definition is a comprehensive list of all similar things (tangible) or qualities (intangibles) that are there.
A habit is a set sequence of actions that we perform automatically ie. without conscious awareness. In other words, a habit is an unconscious pattern that we use. A Personal Habits Inventory is a list of our habits obviously as we become aware of them . . . and as we may allow them to be listed! Here is a quick sequence of tasks: 1. List your personal habits 2. Mark a (+) for positive or empowering habits and a (-) for negative or disempowering habits 3. Then, use the Start, Stop and Continue options to categorize them further. 4. Next, prioritize each category 5. Pick only one habit that you either want to Develop or Strengthen or Replace. Remember, habits are very difficult to stop. The most effective approach is
to replace a disempowering habit with another empowering habit. This is because there is a critical pay-off that a habit generates. This pay-off must be effectively fulfilled by an alternative habit; only then will a habitchange be successful. In line with Napolean Hill s thinking and recommendations; working progressively on your Personal Habits Inventory would provide for an excellent program for personal growth and advancement.
