Friday, 31st March 2023 was a memorable day for forty sixstudents offour schools in Bandra West –St. Catherine’s, Mt. Mary Convent, Fr. Agnel’s and St. Joseph’s. The ‘rainbow’ kids were accompanied by four teachers and a few older students. They were invited by TajLands End hotel to take part in Zero Waste Day as a part of the hotel’s CSR activities. The main purpose of this activity was to impress upon the kids the importance of recycling by engaging them in fun activities.

The participants received a warm welcome from MsFerozaKhambatta, Learning & Development Manager, TajLands End. MsKhambatta told me that since the attention span of young children is limited, they were first shown short videos of how waste could be transformed into decorative and useful items. The hotel staff had already collected waste material such as newspapers, ribbons, trimmings, paper and cardboard for the session.
