REALNETWORKS DEBUTS SAFR SCAN

SAFR SCAN™, the world’s leading facial recognition platform for live video intelligence, was publicly disclosed on the 23rd of March at the ISC West 2022 trade show in Las Vegas. This product harnesses AI that offers high verification capacities and identification for novel and developing applications in workforce management, physical security as well as health safety.

SAFR SCAN provides seamless and speedy throughput enabling up to 30 individuals to be verified per minute. Moreover, the competitive price point of SAFR would attract both organizations large and small. Regardless of its use, SAFR can be installed on site, in the cloud, embedded in a smart camera, or with a VMS. All enrolled and scanned biometric data is completely encrypted without capturing any visual imagery of individuals’ faces for privacy purposes. For enhanced physical security, SAFR SCAN showcases anti-spoofing technology with 3D structured light and RGB to certify the liveness of the individual being screened.

As SAFR SCAN relies on touchless biometrics technology instead of a keycard-based system, it can be used both indoors and outdoors. The device will be sold in North America via a network of system integrators and has an MSRP of $1,199. 

PHONE AS A CONVENIENT ACCESS CARD

Modern access control indicates convenience for security managers and building users. When contemporary door readers detect an access card, they indicate details such as the person who is trying to access, the door location and the time of access. In light of this, system integrator Visma Megaflex recently launched a novel convenience technology to their systems: technology permitting mobile phones as access devices. Mobile phones offer a sensible, convenient platform for safely keeping digital access credentials because they are prevalent among people nowadays. Moreover, mobile phone locks, whether fingerprints, keywords or security patterns, can boost security.

Besides making access to buildings easier, mobile phones simplify systems management and reinforce information security. This is because temporary users like maintenance personnel can easily manage mobile accessacess. After each visit, users can remove their ID via some mouse clicks. Therefore, it becomes more feasible to pre-define and allocate such temporary mobile access privileges in advance, in the context of building maintenance works usually done after office hours.

Visma Megaflex deploys Idesco’s 8 CD 2.0 MI readers in their system. These also read traditional MIFARE DESFire tags and cards, in addition to mobile IDs. Idesco designed its mobile IDs to integrate seamlessly into systems where physical tags are also managed. Administering these mobile IDs inside Megaflex’ system is the job of Idesco ID service. Idesco ID lets Megaflex customers manage their mobile IDs from within the Megaflex system. Best of all, since no user data is transferred or resides in external cloud services, user privacy is protected.

“We chose Idesco as supplier, because the priorities of solution quality and understanding the customer is embedded in everything they do. It mirrors the same values we imbue our own work with every day, so cooperation is easy and feels natural with Idesco”, reflects Kari Kuittinen.

Visma Megaflex is strongly future-oriented in developing their access control solutions. “As a software house, we provide data-secured solutions intended for ongoing development. Integrating access control with other processes such as HR systems, is already an everyday business. In the future, we will focus even more on providing our customers the data they need to support their different business operations. In this area, we are committed to being an agile operator. Due to the rapid development of access control technologies and tools we foresee continued tight cooperation with both Idesco and our customers”, concludes Kari Kuittinen. 

ANTAIRA INSTALLS DIGITAL 3D PROTECTIVE SHIELD OVER AIRFIELD

Antaira Technologies installed a digital 3D protective shield over a restricted airfield at an airport via a collaboration with a Utah-based airspace security defence company. Pillars arrayed with outdoor surveillance cameras, sensors as well as Antaira’s industrial Gigabitmanaged Ethernet switch (the LMX1202G-SFP-T) implemented a blanket of protection over specified airspace.

This digital 3D protective shield used radar and video to notify and dispatch drones to seize unsanctioned and hazardous drones in the vicinity of the airport. Larger protector drones launched nets to seize unlicensed drones, for the purpose of leaving the foreign drones unharmed for airport security to locate the culprit.

Client Requirements

For the project, the client required din rail mounted and hardened industrial switches that would stand up to shock and vibration and could be situated outdoors in an enclosure. Moreover, the client required a higher port density with an intricate system comprising embedded computers, radar management systems, cameras to analyze objects and their locality.

Antaira’s Value Proposition

Antaira’s tailor-made services, free product evaluation and technical support made the company the choice candidate for this project. Antaira offeredthe client industrial switches with ascending port counts and of several sizes until a 12-port Ethernet switch was found suitable for the application. This bid process took six months until the most appropriate fit and a fully tailor-made application was decided upon.

Furthermore, Antaira’s managed Ethernet switch was installed inside multiple pillars, enabling the creation of a ring. With the ring feature, industrial switches could communicate with each other, the other hardware on the pillars, and the security command center. Remote access to the managed switches clarifies updates or changes on the switch, making it easier to control the switch from the command center.

Besides, Antaira’s LMX-1202GSFP-T could operate optimally in an outdoor field as it contains an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to 75°C and hardened IP30 capabilities. Antaira’s LMX1202G-SFP-T is a 12-port industrial gigabit Light Layer 3 managed Ethernet switch that is implanted with 10*10/100/1000Tx Fast Ethernet ports and two dual rates (100/1000X) SFP slots. This model is a fully controllable industrial Ethernet switch preloaded with standard Light Layer 3 network management software. Also, it supports Jumbo Frame and wide bandwidth for data transmission and contains adequate port counts for any edge-level connectivity solutions.

With Antaira’s digital 3D protective shield, airport security has been enhanced.
