PRACTICAL NURSE

QUALIFICATION

Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care 180 competence points, junior high school graduates / secondary school graduates / vocational school graduates

Taught mainly in English. Some subjects are taught partly in Finnish. Also on the job-learning periods assume the use of Finnish.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE PROFESSIONAL FIELD

Student will have ■ wide-ranging basic capabilities for the different tasks in their occupational field ■ ability to wide and responsible nursing and care work in different environments of the client/patient ■ ability to multi-professional co-operation

PROFESSIONAL TASKS

■ working in home care in a manner that enhances the client’s functional capacity and promotes the social inclusion of the elderly ■ nursing and care based on client’s/patient’s needs ■ drug care and the follow up the effects of drugs ■ taking care of cleaning, food service, cosines and safety

KEY COURSE CONTENT

The Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care is composed of vocational units (145 competence points) and common units (35 competence points) Vocational Units: ■ Promotion of growth and social inclusion (25 competence points) ■ Promotion of wellbeing and functional capacity (30 competence points) ■ Care and rehabilitation for elderly people (total 75 competence points) ■ Optional unit (15 competence points)

PLEASE NOTE

■ Finnish students who have good command of

English language can apply for this programme. ■ Foreign students with good Finnish and English skills can apply for this programme. ■ Students who are native speakers of Finnish are tested for their knowledge of English. ■ Students who are not native speakers of Finnish are tested for their knowledge of both Finnish and

English. Applicants will be invited to the Finnish test in Spring 2022, English test will take place in Spring 2022. All applicants will be invited to the Aptitude test in Spring 2022. ■ The students provide their working clothes, school books and other material needed. ■ During the education at least one of the on-the-joblearning periods will take place abroad for Finnish students.

Sosiaali- ja terveysalan perustutkinnon koulutus (lähihoitaja, perustason ensihoitaja, Practical Nurse) toteutetaan Seinäjoella Suupohjantiellä. Koulutus palaa Kirkkokadulle, kun uudisrakennus ajanmukaisine oppimisympäristöineen valmistuu.
