Poetry
The Sefton Writing Competition accepts entries from writers, both amateur and professional, from throughout the UK. This years competition will be judged by Philip Wroe and Emma Lloyd.

Original poems written in any style, but not exceeding 40 lines are eligible in this category.
Other Writing Entries can include short texts, stories, essays, dialogues, mini-dramas, monologues and lyrics, none of which must exceed 500 words.
Writing by Young People Poems no more than 40 lines or general writing no more than 500 words by young people 14 years and under. The work submitted in this category may be illustrated. All winning entries to be published on the Sefton Arts website and to appear in the January to April edition of the magazine.
Awards Evening
Everyone who enters the Sefton Writing Competition are invited to a special awards event at The Royal Clifton Hotel, Southport on Wednesday 7 December, 6.30pm - 8.30pm. The event is to be hosted by Southport’s very own TV personality and columnist David Lonsdale (Heartbeat, The Royal) and will include entertainment. 1. Entry fee ÂŁ2.00 per poem or piece of writing for adults 2. Competitors may submit as many entries as they wish 3. Y oung people (14 years and under) will have free entry but may submit only one poem or piece of writing per person 4. M anuscripts must not bear the name of the author 5. T he name of the author, or pen name, should be given on the entry form and attached with submissions 6. Entries must be typewritten 7. Manuscripts will not be returned 8. T he decision of the judges is final and organisers will not enter into any correspondence whatsoever regarding the results
