William Clark
“Bill” Dreier, age 88 of Seguin, formerly of Titusville, Florida, and Marinette Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023.
Bill was the oldest child born to Elmer and Jean Spoor Dreier on May 19, 1934 in Marinette WI. He was a graduate of Marinette High School class of 1952.
In 1954 Bill was united in marriage to Joan Marie Hansen. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Bill lived in Marinette all his life working at Ansul Chemical Company for 34 years.
He was a proud member of the Marinette Rescue Squad and an active member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church. He was involved in many Masonic organizations and was a member of the Marinette Masonic Lodge for 59 years and played in the Shriners Band. Bill had moved to Titusville Florida and recently to Seguin Texas to be close to his family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Joan; daughter, Susan “Sue” (Keith) Thompson; grandchildren, Joshua (Grace), Hannah and Daniel Thompson of Texas, and Michael Thompson of Florida; greatgrandchildren, Isabella and Evelyn of Texas; sister Betty Messenger of Peshtigo WI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son David and brother Robert “Bob” (Joy) Dreier of Port Washington WI.
A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert K. Odom officiating. Reception to follow at Eden Place Club House, 1220 Jefferson Ave., Seguin, Texas.
Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date in the St. Luke’s Presbyterian Memorial Garden (which his wife helped establish) in Titusville, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to Guadalupe Regional Hospice, 1346 E Walnut St., Seguin, Texas 78155. The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing care of the hospice team that allowed Bill to remain at home with his family by his side.

Jill Biden Visits San Diego
(San Diego, CA) -- First lady Jill Biden visits San Diego Friday and Saturday to discuss the administration’s “cancer moonshot” efforts and initiatives for military and veteran families. Biden will also visit a local health clinic to discuss federal efforts to improve cancer screenings and early detection programs for communities with limited healthcare access. The administration’s moonshot initiative, spearheaded by then Vice President Biden, aims to improve cancer treatments and conditions for patients and to reduce death rates by at least 50 percent within 25 years. Its goals include resuming cancer screenings missed during the pandemic, reducing smoking and getting more patients into clinical cancer trials. Saturday, she will visit the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Veterans Village of San Diego in Oceanside to meet with health care providers and military families.
More Fatal Fentanyl ODs In NOLA Last Year Than Murders
(New Orleans, LA) -- New Orleans saw more deadly overdoses last year than murders. Nearly 500 deaths resulted from overdoses, most of them caused by fentanyl. There were about 280 murders in New Orleans in 2022. The New Orleans Department of Health is offering “Overdose Response” and “Bystander Response Training” classes that instruct people how to identify an overdose and treat a victim with Narcan. Registration for the classes is available at the Health Department’s website.
Abortion Lawsuit Filed
(Charleston, WV) -- The state’s last remaining abortion clinic is filing a federal lawsuit against the state’s abortion law. Women’s Health Center of West Virginia calls the law that went into effect last September as irrational and unconstitutional. The suit is aiming at the provision of the restrictive law that says any allowed abortion would have to be performed in a hospital by a medical professional with hospital privileges.
Santa Clara County Closing COVID Testing, Vaccination Sites
(San Jose, CA) -- Santa Clara County is closing all COVID testing and mass vaccination sites by the end of this month. Officials say the facilities are no longer essential to their pandemic response efforts. This comes as cases remain low and the vaccination rate high. Public health officials say they’re confident with the decision given that at-home COVID tests are widely available. Major local providers like Kaiser Permanente and Sutter health are also offering testing and vaccination services.
