Governor highlights economic success during State of the State address

(San Marcos) -- Texas

Governor Greg Abbott gave his State of the State Address last week in neighboring San Marcos. Abbott gave his speech at Noveon Magnetics, a manufacturing company in San Marcos that specializes in rare earth materials. The governor used the opportunity to tout the state's economic successes.

“Number one for exports (and) number one for Fortune 500 company headquarters. Our $2 trillion economy makes Texas, the 9th largest economy in the entire world,” said Abbott.

Gov. Abbott says the state's economy remains robust, and it continues to grow and attract new businesses from outside the state.

“All across our state, business is booming -- from our large metros to rural Texas,” said Abbott.

The governor says overall outlook for the state is positive, and it’s in a very strong position to move forward into the future. State, pg. 3
