Asher Bonnell Named SCAC Hitter of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran’s Asher Bonnell (Round Rock/ Stony Point) was selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Baseball Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday. The award covers TLU’s final two games against Schreiner as well as their series against Austin College, to earn his first SCAC weekly award of his career.

In five games, Bonnell hit .412 (7-for-17) with nine RBIs, four runs scored, and three stolen bases to lead the Bulldogs to a 5-0 week. Bonnell recorded an RBI in each contest and had four multi-RBI efforts in the Bulldogs five contests. His strongest effort of the week came in the Austin College series finale as the senior outfielder went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs scored. Bonnell also was the hero of the Bulldogs 11-inning effort against the Schreiner Mountaineers - driving in the tying run in the ninth and the winning run in the 11th.

Bonnell is the second Bulldog to earn SCAC Hitter of the Week honors the fourth Bulldog to earn a SCAC weekly honor this season.

The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs will travel to Irving, Texas, to continue SCAC play on Saturday against Dallas. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM for the first game of a Saturday doubleheader on April 22. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
