Navarro Panthers Blast Rival Cuero on Senior Night, Marion Baseball and Navarro Softball Stay Unbeaten in District PLUS Other Area Results

(Seguin) -- New Braunfels Canyon shut-out Seguin 11-0 at Smokey Joe Williams Field on Tuesday night. The Mats and Cougars will play again on Friday night at Canyon High School. The 2023 season will wrap up next Friday for the Matadors.

(New Braunfels) -- Canyon also got a shutout over Seguin on the softball diamond as the undefeated Cougarettes took down the Lady Mats 9-0 in New Braunfels on Tuesday night.

Canyon jumped on Seguin with eight runs in the first two innings. Lady Matador pitcher Madyson Schultze settled things down in relief and allowed only one Cougarette run over final 4 and 2/3 innings.

Seguin drops to third place in District 26-5A play with a 9-4 record, one game behind 2nd place Smithson Valley, who beat Boerne-Champion on Tuesday. The Lady Mats will host Champion to close out their regular season on Friday and we’ll have that game right here on KWED.

(Geronimo) -- In Geronimo, the Navarro baseball and softball teams picked up wins on Tuesday.

The Panther baseball team crushed Cuero 18-3 on Senior Night. Seniors Landun Taylor, Cole Zimmer and Bryce Nall all scored three runs. Taylor had an RBI triple as did senior Marco Moncada. Zimmer drove in five runs. Nall had a pair of RBI. Senior hurler Blaine Pircher got his 5th win of the season going the distance and striking out four along the way. The win keeps the Panthers in a three-way tie for first place in District 28-4A with San Antonio Kennedy and La Vernia. All three teams are 5-2 in district play. The Panthers and Gobblers will play again on Friday night down in Cuero.

(Geronimo) -- The Navarro Lady Panthers stayed unbeaten in district, winning a 13-11 slugfest over La Vernia on Tuesday night. Shelbi Stevens blasted a home run, Samantha Mundine had three hits and Carlie Pitner drove home three runs.

Navarro is 9-0 and in first place in district. The Lady Panthers and will play at 2nd place and 8-1 Cuero on Friday night to close their regular season.

(Marion) -- Over in Marion, the District 26-3A Champion Marion Bulldog baseball team stayed unbeaten in district with a 9-4 win over Great Hearts Northern Oaks on Tuesday afternoon. Huck Shoenvogel, Ty Karr and Kade Pape all had two hits for the Bulldogs. Marion is at Randolph on Friday.

(Marion) — And the Marion Lady Bulldogs fell in a non-district game at home to Shiner, 14-4. Marion is tied for 2nd place in district. The Lady Bulldogs will finish their regular season on Friday at Randolph.
