Seguin Fire Department Fan Drive

The Seguin Fire Department Fan Drive is currently underway. Fans will be available to households (within the Seguin city limits only) that are without air conditioning. Fans can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Municipal Court/Fire Administration building, located at 660 S. Hwy 46. A picture ID and proof of residency is required. limit one fan per household. If you received a fan last year, you are ineligible this year. Children Five to Nine Summer Art Classes

The Seguin Art League will offer Summer Art Classes for ages five to nine from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays through Fridays on June 6 to June 9, June 13 to June 16, June 20 to June 23, July 11 to July 14, July 18 to July 21, and July 25 to July 28 at 104 S. Austin St. in Seguin. The cost is $120 and the supplies are included. Participants will make pinch pots, foam masks, Kandinsky pieces of art, wall hangings and learn the use of patterns, texture, design, and color. The Seguin Art League will offer Summer Art Classes for ages 10 and older from 1 to 3p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays on June 6 to June 9, June 13 to June 16, June 20 to June 23, July 11 to July 14, July 18 to July 21, and July 25 to July 28 at 104 S. Austin St. in Seguin. The cost is $120 and the supplies are included. Participants will make clay boxes, print with natural found objects, make wind socks and learn to create texture, use templates, and work with color, line, and form. Join us at Seguin Public Library on June 10th, 2023, 10:30 am - 12 pm, for a special workshop led by Kelly “Lola” Wilcox Moore. Discover the untold history of the Wilcox Ranch, the last active African American owned ranch in Seguin. Explore the work of the Wilcox & Moore Legacy Restoration Project, aiming to amend and preserve forgotten truths. Learn techniques to document your personal history. Summe r Movie s in the Park Se guin Parks an d Re c Grab some popcorn, lawn chairs, family and friends for Movies in the Park this summer, hosted by the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department. The Movies in the Park series kicks-off Friday, June 16 at dusk. Movies will be shown on a big screen in Max Starcke Park East near the Patricia K. Irvine-King Pavilion. Additional movies in Starcke Park East will be shown at dusk on Friday, July 21 and Friday, August 25. All movies are free. The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce will have its Military Appreciation Luncheon at 11:30 Wednesday, June 7 at the Silver Center, located at 510 E. Court St. in Seguin. The speakers will be Ret. Major General Juan Ayala, U.S. Marine Corp. The cost is $20 per meal for members in advance, $25 for non-members and after the Friday before the event.

Seguin Premier Toastmasters will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at GVEC Community Room, located at 927 SH-46 in Seguin. The Seguin Field of Honor will have opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10 and closing ceremonies at 10 a.m. June 17 at the Faith Lutheran Church, located at 13 26 E. Cedar St. in Seguin. The Central Park Summer Concert Series will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Sunday in June and the first Sunday in July. This year’s concerts feature the Dirty River Jazz Band on June 11, Grove Factor on June 18, Natalie Rose on June 25, and the San Antonio Symphonic Band performing the Patriotic Concert on July 2. The concerts are family-friendly and free. Don’t forget to bring your chair or blanket.
