RETROFITTING FOR SMART CITIES Location : Tirupati

Cities are confIuences of people; places where people live, come to meet, exchange ideas, earn livelihoods, access education, health and other services and enjoy a life of good quality. People are at the core of the city. Therefore, cities should work for their people. Cities that work for their people will continuously become better versions of themselves with each passing day. This is a urban design proposal which has a vision that aims at A 21st century pilgrimage city that promotes Arts, Innovation & Sustainable Growth As part of this endeavor, a mixed-use development including multi-level car parking project has been envisioned in order to optimize on land eff iciency. The location of site is opposite the railway Station of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh which would address parking issues in order to create safe streets and reduce congestion.Strengthening soft mobility, Improving the interface between the old city and the tourism driven developed areas, Restoring the ecology, Facilitating market spaces and bazaars to uplift local businesses and Creating social interaction spaces which are absent in the area, are some of the agendas of this project.

Parking Tower-Site plan

After analysing the traff ic and footfall near railwaystation there was a shortage of parking which cause street clutters and congetion .the old city vibe was missing because of the chaos and clutters . To solve this a parking tower was proposed backside of the railwaystation which creates a seperate entry for the residents and peligrims. The parking issue is also solved on the netaji road becuse of this proposal. A food court was added for the recreation and creating a seperate entry to the railway station.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Location : Vijayawada Functionally complex building

We commonly see regular hospitals as that only serve people’s medical needs. The overall well-being of a patient, which leads in a quick recovery, is sometimes disregarded. As a result, this concept takes a comprehensive approach to designing a 100-bed hospital. The principle of form following function was strongly embedded in the development of this project, as the primary focus was on technological applications such as crowd movement, isolation, virus spread control, Ventilation systems, proximity, and so on. Through sustainable practices and design strategy, the project also seeks to provide thermal comfort and general well-being for patients and employees.

Hospitals are the most challenging institutions among various other built spaces. This is due to the complexity of functional relationship that must exist within and among co-spaces. Apart from providing right environment for patients and care providers, it should also be sensitive to the needs of the visitors including patient’s families. A number of Hospitals are ideally constructed to deliver the present / future requirements of healthcare. It is an essential requirement to examine the emerging issues, analyse the challenges, appreciate the emerging trends and study the various strategic options available for designing, planning and constructing hospital.

YOUTH HOSTEL Udipi

Youth Hostel located in Udipi which has accomodation facilities with cloud kithen, super market in the ground f loor . This is envisioned as a space for young individuals to come together, while having private accomodation. Designing with such a odd sized site was a challange in designing spaces . The construction was done with low cost materials and techniques. There is a wide range mix of materials which gives a great composition visually.Natural Ventilation was taken care by giving jali walls , sky lights etc. Site area :5000 sft Built up area : 6400sft
