Bio Do you remember being a little girl, and how perfectly beautiful you felt when a butterfly landed on your hair? It’s amazing how such simple little things can boost your selfconfidence. Selkie Crafts are designed to boost self-confidence and help women express their unique style with beautifully crafted, stunning accessories.
Selkie Crafts are the butterflies women choose to wear. Unlike many mass produced accessories, these are ethically crafted products. Selkie Crafts is an environmentally aware business and by working with me you are also supporting a local business and community. Based in Argyll, on the west coast of Scotland, I am a one woman business. So you can be reassured you will be in contact with someone who knows the business. I am a self-taught designer-maker and value practical, comfortable, fit for purpose designs that are stunning to look at. The ‘Selkie Crafts’ name and logo celebrate my Scottish roots and Selkie lifestyle. I am a keen SCUBA diver and have an MSci in Ecology; so the sea, nature and the wildness of Scotland’s west coast are strong influences of my work. I work with a mixture of aluminium and copper wire with a range of gemstones and beads. This collection includes my first designs made with 100% recycled Sterling Silver (EcoSilver). All my pieces are hand crafted using traditional methods and tools such as pliers, a wire-jig, and my bare hands. As a relatively young business Selkie Crafts is proud to already have been awarded two LUX Awards, and been printed in the pages of Brides Magazine.

Ethical & Eco Selkie Crafts is proud to be a responsible business that continually strives to work in an ethical and environmentally responsible way. Here are a few of the things we do to make the world a better place:
We are transitioning to only using Swarovski crystals over other crystal manufacturers. Swarovski have one of the best ethical and environmental credentials of the industry. Since I make my products by hand, all the labour that goes into the manufacture of your purchase is ethical. We have created specially designed packaging that we make inhouse using recycled card where possible. These boxes are made to be as reusable and recyclable as possible. Our flyers and business cards are printed on recycled paper and use vegetable inks. I am a qualified Ecologist and still work to protect the environment and educate the next generation. We regularly participate in charitable causes and donate a portion of our profits to help do good in the world. I work from my home studio to reduce my CO2 footprint. o This has also allowed me to adopt a rescue dog with behavioural problems and give him a loving home. o I also have a wildlife friendly garden. I volunteer in the community: o I am a supervisor with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, encouraging young people to enjoy the outdoors. o I am a HM Coastguard Rescue Officer, assisting in a variety of calls for assistance. o I am a SCUBA instructor with BSAC sharing my knowledge & skills, I do not get paid for this. I love to share my enthusiasm for the underwater world.

Terms & Conditions Products All sizes are approximate; these are hand crafted items so there may be slight variation. Sizes are given Height x Width in cm. Exact materials may vary but every effort will be made to maintain consistency. Where materials are substituted, they will be of equal quality. The exact decoration on the purple packaging may also vary but will be of equal quality. Minimums: Minimum order: £100 Opening order: £150 Carriage Paid: £350 Timescales Lead Time: 4-6 weeks from date of payment. However, we can often complete orders earlier. Delivery is usually next day. If you require an order by a particular date, please specify this on your order and we will do our best to accommodate this. If for any reason Selkie Crafts is unable to complete an order to the agreed timescale, we will contact you. Particularly large orders or busy times may increase this lead time, but we will contact you to notify you of the situation and estimated timescales when you place your order. Payment Methods Our preferred method of payment is through PayPal. We will request your PayPal address on your order form. We also accept: Bank transfer Cheque We will not process an order until payment has cleared. Please contact us for details if you wish to pay by any of these other payment methods or wish to pay by a method not noted here. Payment Terms Customers are required to pay in full when placing an order. We will not process an order until payment has cleared. However, alternative payment terms can be negotiated, please contact us with your preferences. Shipping Method Orders are shipped using Royal Mail or ParcelForce with appropriate insurance. This is often next day delivery and may require a signature upon delivery. Outer packaging materials are often re-used to help protect the environment. The products and their gift boxes will be safely padded inside. Selkie Crafts take no responsibility for delays caused during shipping, once goods have left our premises. Shipping Costs Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer (unless your order is above the Carriage Paid level of £350). Orders will usually be shipped with guaranteed next day delivery.
Product Customization and Samples Beyond the displayed metal and bead colour choices, we do not offer other customisations as standard. However, if you want an exclusive design, customised packaging, or other particulars we are happy to discuss options. Please contact us with your ideas. Returns, Cancellations and Discounts Returns are only accepted on damaged items within 14 days of receipt of goods. Upon the return of damaged items, they will be fixed or replaced with a new article of the same design. The cost of returning goods is the responsibility of the buyer. The cost of sending the replacement will be covered by Selkie Crafts. Orders can only be cancelled if despatch is a week or more over the agreed delivery date. A cancellation fee will be payable of 50% of the total order value. Cancellation requests must be received within 10 days of the agreed delivery date. Buyback of unsold inventory is not available. Recommended Retail Prices (RRP’s) are given for each item and includes an allowance for VAT at 20%. We strongly recommend retailers use the RRP’s. Retailers may discount items for a limited time at their discretion but any one discount should not last longer than 2 months.
