Medan drug couriers caught with a kilogram of meth tucked inside their sandals at Bali airport in North Sumatra on a Lion Air flight on Saturday afternoon. Working on a tip-off, BNNP officers searched the duo on arrival at the Bali airport, seizing more than 1,008 grams of meth from the left and right soles of the two combined. Two Indonesian nationals were arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai airport on Saturday (9/3) after officers from the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) discovered 1,008 grams of meth hidden inside their sandals.

“Their modus operandi is to hide the methamphetamine inside their sandals and go on as usual, stepping on it,” said Putu Gede Suastawa of the BNNP yesterday, as quoted by detiknews.

The pair, identified as 23-year old student Muhammad Ikhsan and laborer M Dani, 28, traveled to Bali from Medan

Further investigations led to the Puri Nusantara Hotel in Tuban where I Putu Mas Wira Adi Kusuma was arrested on suspicion of being the Bali distributor.

PROVEN !!

Officers from the BNNP managed to seize 105 ecstasy pills among Kusuma’s belongings. Suastawa said that the three were part of a Medanbased network distributing narcotics into Bali. Ikhsan and Dani claimed to have been promised a fee of IDR50 million (US $3,502) each for carrying the illegal substances from their hometown of Aceh in North Sumatra to Bali. Meanwhile, Kusuma told officers that he received a wage of IDR10 million (US $700) for taking drugs that had just arrived from Aceh. All three were charged with article 112 paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics and face the threat of 20 years in prison. (coconuts.co)

NEW IN THE GU: FITSPOT BALI

You are not in

Ok so we know it’s only March, but our new year’s resolutions of becoming more taut and terrific and less ‘fluffy’ seem to be on track for the first time in our lives. I know, we can barely believe it ourselves. We’d like to take credit and say it’s a simple mix of motivation and a whole lot of Dance Party Kratom that got us here, but as new places to make your fat cry crop up all over the shop, it’s just too damn easy to board the fit bandwagon when you’re THIS spoilt for choice. Fitspot Bali is the latest addition the ever-growing Tamora Gallery complex everyone is wagging their chins over. Never mind AMRAPs and EMOM’s or any of that other CrossFit jargon we pretend to understand (just smile and nod).. Fitspot is about burning off those calories, not taking yourself too seriously and having FUN while you work your bod.

Now we have always prided ourselves on marching to the beat of a different drum, however Pound Fit had us giving it our all as we squatted, lunged, crunched and jumped in sync – all whilst putting in our best air drumming performances. Drumming as exercise? You what?! SHH! Don’t question it – grab yourself a pair of drumsticks and just pound it out. Admittedly we were all giggles and jokes to begin with, but as we got the gist of the moves and our hand-eye coordination decided to play ball, we actually got right into it. We’d be lying if we said it wasn’t a solid workout.. PHEW! Dave Grohl, we salute you – and not just for your musical talent. Whether you’re picturing your boss, an ex-lover or that absolute peanut who cut you off on the shortcut – just you TRY telling us that Pound Fit isn’t at least a little bit cathartic…Small but mighty, the weekly class schedule in this light and bright little space sounds more adventurous (albeit less risky) than white water rafting with a bunch of monkeys. Pirouette into a Modern Jazz Dance, get your peach snatched at Booty & Core Suspension, roll those hips at Zumba, or harness your inner zen with a Vinyasa Yoga class. With 20% off drop in classes and 40% off class packages for the entire month of March, you’ve got no excuse not to! However you like your sweat sesh – where there’s a will, Fitspot has a way. We’re honestly just stoked we’ve found somewhere within walking distance to work off our double scoop cups of Snickerlicious from Gelato Secrets. Ya feel?! See you in class, crew! Stormy Weather BKMG warns to Expect Heavy Rains in Bali Through 18 March

The Agency for Meteorology, Climate and Geophysics (BKMG) is warning that sections including and surrounding the Islands of Java and Bali may suffer heavy precipitation due to MaddenJulian Oscillations. Unlike the stationery weather patterns generated by El Nino – Southern Oscillation (ENSO), the Madden-Julian Oscillation is a traveling weather

pattern that moves to the east at 14 to 29 kilometers per hour moving over warmer parts of the Indian and Pacific oceans. The weather phenomenon is characterized by very high rates of rainfall followed by an extended dry period. This weather condition normally lasts 30-60 days and is alternatively know as an intraseasonal oscillation, 30to-60-day oscillation, or the 30to-60-day wave.

villages even newly opened toll roads. The widespread areas that can expect unseasonably heavy rains are Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Moluccas, Molucca, West Papua, and Papua.

As reported by Beritabali.com, the Bali BMKG is warning Bali and South Java residents to expect heavy rains, lightning storms, and severe wind until 18 March 2019.

Weather authorities advise the public, particularly in Java and Bali, to be on guard for heavy rains, flooding, landslides, strong winds, falling trees, and lightning strikes.

Heavy rains have already descended on wide areas of Java flooding many

During the warning period, forecasters also caution that Indonesia should expect the convergence of several cyclonic systems that will also contribute to heavy rates of rain fall and high winds.

Dwarf sperm whale found dead on Bali beach after rescue efforts fail and dead, and as such, the body will be taken to a research lab in Serangan for further investigation and to determine the cause of death. One of the most commonly beached deep diving whales in the world, the dwarf sperm whale can be found in tropical and temperate waters around the world. It is suspected that the extreme weather of late could be one of the factors that led to this particular whale being stranded.

he carcass of a dwarf sperm whale was discovered on Rangkan Beach in the east-coast village of Ketewel yesterday morning. The 2.2-meter long mammal had reportedly been stranded in the area for a couple of days, despite the efforts of local fishermen to push it into deeper water. “The whale was found by fishermen on Sunday. It had been pushed twice into the middle of the sea, but because of its weak condition, it became stranded again on Tuesday morning,” said

Sulistyio Widodo, the head of Conservation at the Natural Resources Conservation Center, as quoted in Jawa Pos. On inspection, the whale’s body—which was estimated to weigh 180 kilograms —was reportedly perforated with a number of bite marks to the back and mouth, though it’s unclear exactly what caused them. According to Widodo, the dwarf sperm whale is a protected species, both alive THE SEMINYAK WEEKLY, 15 Mar - 22 Mar 2019

According to environmentalist groups, climate-change triggered conditions, such as high waves or high-speed winds at mid sea, can interfere with a whale’s echolocation mechanism, causing it to malfunction and mistaken the shoreline as part of its territory. Incidentally, this isn’t the first time a whale has washed up on our shores. In 2016, a giant 16 meter sperm whale was found dead in Klungkung. Sadly, the poor creature wasn’t allowed to rest in peace straight away as residents flocked to take advantage of the photo op. (coconuts.co)
