Disgruntled villagers report Dutch resident for alleged rowdy behavior, Singaraja Police and Immigration investigating Saying they were fed up with his antisocial behavior, some residents of Buleleng Regency’s Petandakan Village reported their Dutch neighbor to the Singaraja Police and immigration office on Monday. According to local sources, the 60-year-old expat has been involved in numerous clashes with other community members since he’d moved to the village two years ago. Among those to report the Dutchman was local resident Wayan Joni Arianto. According to him, the expat used to speed dangerously along community roads, causing concern for local families. When he was called out by his neighbors, things reportedly turned nasty.“He was angry, and threatened our citizens with sharp weapons. He

once also carried a firearm. So our citizens are restless,” said Arianto, as quoted by Jawa Pos.
Singaraja City Police Chief, AA Wiranata Kusuma said he would immediately follow up on reports.
In another incident, he was accused of stealing a dog. But when village officials traced the animal to his residence, the Dutchman reportedly argued that the dog wanted to be kept.
Immigration officials said they would investigate the Dutch man’s visa status to determine whether he is in Indonesia legally.
Arianto also cited an encounter in which the expat became irate at the sound of music coming from a resident’s home. “Even though the music volume was low, he was angry and came to verbally abuse [the homeowner]… We hope that there will be action from the authorities, because our citizens have been very anxious,” he said as quoted by Jawa Pos.
“We will check the track record to see whether the person entered with a work visa or holiday visa, and whether the permit is still valid. If he has violated any laws, it will be followed up,” said the head of Singaraja’s Immigration office, Gusti Agung Komang Artawan, as quoted by Tribun Bali. (coconuts.co)

NEW IN THE GU: SENSORIUM
You are not in
In a town where smoothie bowls and superfood salads reign supreme, we are often left craving something a little more, well.. ‘levelled up”. I mean kale is great, and smoothies are chill and all that, but sometimes a girl just wants to brunch, you know? If your inner diva yearns for something more, allow us to officially introduce you to the new Sensorium Bali. The menu reads Boujee AF with textures of this and compressed that, but its humble AF where it counts, and that’s its pricing. We’re coining it ‘elevated eats on a Bali budget' and we are all about it. Sensorium's ethos is all about activating, challenging and satisfying all senses. Indonesian-born head chef and owner Will Lim imports some serious Western cooking techniques, picked up from nearly a decade of chefery across Sydney & Melbourne’s culinary hotspots, and melds them effortlessly with his knowledge and sentimentality for authentic Asian flavours. Asian fusion is a term thrown flippantly around these parts, but chef Will excels where many try and fail, and we’ll put that down to his chefing pedigree.

With its minimalist crisp interior, polished concrete bench seating, neutral colouration, and handmade textured crockery, Sensorium delights from the moment you set foot inside its french entry doors. Saliva-inducing scents waft from the kitchen as Will skilfully prepares your first bite. Enough of the foreplay.. let’s get down and dirty with the food. The all-day menu in two words: mind blowing. Every dish has been prepared with intention and is served with a heartfelt rendition of the chef’s personal inspiration. The Bulgogi Beef Burger for example; a homage to Will’s post-shift 3am feed. Braised mince beef, spicy mayo, pickled veg, spring onion and charred lime, served on a buttery brioche. It’s a throwback to every Korean BBQ joint you’ve ever made friends with at the end of a long night. Take me there! Now speaking of nostalgic dishes, if you haven’t chowed down on a juicy cob of street corn at sunset, have you even been to Bali?! The Charred Corn at Sensorium is an ode to Canggu’s iconic beachside eat; featuring Mum’s secret chili sauce recipe (oh heyyyy North Sumatra, I see you!), and sprinkled with fresh coriander, lime, spring onion and cheese. You’ll be coming back for seconds, thirds, fourths. THAT good. The Textural of Mushrooms was a solid fave amongst us Gu Gals. This ain’t no slapped together ‘shrooms on toast, crew. A trio of sautéed & fried seasonal mushrooms with seaweed paste and fried garlic. Scoop it up on a slice of dark rye and thank us later. Star of the show for us? Unanimously voted the Brunch Ramen. Because, well who doesn't love brunch.. and who doesn't love Ramen..AMIRIGHT?!? A soupy bowl of chicken roulade, wild mushrooms and a precision-cooked 62 degree egg, it's a ritzy brunch remake of quite possibly our favourite meal ever. Ooft. Do yourself a solid and don't leave without sampling the dessert menu. An uber refreshing lineup of Coconut & Pandan Panacotta or icy watermelon, lychee & pomelo granita, its the perfect palette cleanser to conclude all of this gastronomical deliciousness. Find Sensorium along Jl Batu Bolong, tucked in between Oka's Bakery & Machinery Cafe. Open Monday to Friday 9am - 8pm and til 4pm on weekends, it's a boutique space so make sure you book to avoid some major foodie FOMOs.
