Newborn baby found in bag hung on fence outside Kuta orphanage, police searching for parents According to a statement issued by the Bali Police, the baby was found by Sister Clementia, who was stopping by the orphanage when she saw a brown duffel bag hung on the fence. At first, she assumed it contained rice that may have been donated by the local residents, until she heard a cry. Police say the infant, estimated to have been three days old when found, weighs 3kg. He had been wrapped in a blanket inside the duffel bag. Fortunately, doctors say the infant is healthy. Police are looking for the parents of a newborn baby boy who was left in a bag at a Kuta orphanage in the early hours of Wednesday.
“We are conducting an investigation to find out either who did this or his parents. We are hoping to find out more soon,” said North Kuta police chief,
Dewa Gede Anom Danujaya, as quoted in a statement. For now, the baby is being treated at a local clinic, according to a report from Detik.
Child abandonment is not common in Bali, but there seem to be a growing number of cases in recent years of abandoned newborns and fetuses being discovered. Earlier in January, a newborn baby boy was discovered at a child care center, seemingly dumped there only minutes after his birth. Child abandonment charges in Indonesia carry a prison term of up to five years and a fine. (coconuts.co)

NEW IN THE GU: MY SOAP STORY
You are not in
Let’s talk humidity and makeup struggles Canggu. Foundation makes a brief appearance before melting off, your mascara gives you instant panda eyes (not cute) and powder just absorbs into an oil-slick that we try to pull off as ‘dewy.’ Us Gu Girls have found ourselves more often than not giving our cosmetic bags the flick and reaching for quality skincare products (and of course our beloved Ashari lash technicians!). As self-confessed beauty/skincare junkies – sifting through the shelves in Indonesia can leave us scratching our heads. Sheep’s placenta this.. whitening that.. take everything - but for the love of god leave us our precious golden tans! Finding a natural ingredients list that’s not full of chemicals, fillers and god knows what else.. now that’s a whole other ball game. Our fellow expat pals are getting sick of our requests for goodies from back home every-damn-time they return to the island, and frankly we don’t blame them.

May we introduce Soapstory. Nestled right next to our fave boutique Cove Island Essentials on Pantai Berawa, this little beauty bar is our new skincare mecca, and it’s about to be yours too. We’re not sure whether it was the marble displays, the incredible fragrances wafting from the soap displays or the beautiful glass-bottled products.. whatever it was, Soap Story had us in a frenzy as we tested as many products as possible before running out of skin-space. Born from a love of cult beauty soap ‘Savon De Marseille’, My Soap Story have created their very own skincare range at a pharmaceutical laboratory right here in Bali. Working alongside professional pharmacists to develop the perfect formulas – you know you’re getting quality. These Paraben-Free, Sulfate-Free products are all natural and jam-packed with the good stuff. Rose oil, Vitamin C, Argan oil and Castor oil get onto our faces immediately! French beauty and creator of My Soap Story Soulhela is no slouch when it comes to skincare. We’ve always said we’ll try anything once, and we’ll damn well try it every day if it’s going to give us the complexion of the French. Facial oils, serums, lotions and potions for every skin type and body part. We’ve never needed an excuse to feed our unhealthy shopping addiction, but if we did, this would be it. All those late nights dancing and sunbathing sessions at Alternative Beach can leave us looking considerably wrinklier than our former #10yearchallenge selves. Rejuvenate and boost collagen with the Pure C Serum. Plumping, smoothing and brightening – we’re adding this one to our nightly routine. Mix with the Wild Roses Infused Facial Oil for an extra antioxidant boost AND wake up smelling like a flower. It’s win-win, ma belle! Any soap worth telling stories about ain’t your standard Imperial Leather bar, monsieur. Boasting over 40 good-enough-to-eat scents, these creamy bars of goodness are used for everything from body washing, to shampoo, to facial exfoliating and baby skincare. Can’t decide? Opt for a 3-in-1 face wash, body wash and shampoo and save yourself precious shower space. Pure genius. Maybe we’ve been living in Canggu too long - but we’ll find any excuse to add to our crystal collections #gypsylife. The Rose Quartz facial roller is the prettiest way to de-puff and de-stress. It’s also a boujee little addition to our beauty display. Tres cute! Speaking of pretty rocks, we NEED the oil perfumes in our lives. Amethyst or Tiger’s Eye? Both? If you insist! Each fragrance comes with an adorable little gemstone roller ball. These bestsellers are the perfect gift, IF you can manage to part with them. We’re yet to find toiletries and accessories in the Gu as beautiful as they are serious, until now. Serums, toners, cleansers, body wash, shampoo & conditioner, perfumes.. the list goes on. Pharmacy grade ingredients meet luxury products and packaging (at a very reasonable price, we might add). If you’re looking to up your beauty game ladies and gents - Soap Story has it all, and then some! https://www.facebook.com/guguidebali/ https://cangguguide.com
