Here are 4 things to remember to help you become a better putter:
1
Relax - It is important not to have a dominant hand, as you are looking for a relaxed combination of shoulders, arm and hands for a smooth stroke.
2
Balance- Your feet should feel comfortably apart, never too narrow, and your weight should be biased towards your toes. The mental game of golf holds true on the green more than any other part of the course yet perfecting it is the quickest way to lowering your handicap.
Your putting task consists of: • / i ` vwVÕ ÌÞ v Ài>` } Ì i }Àii à and their subtle undulations • Keeping your ball on the invisible line that you have created between your eagle eye and the hole & • Putting the right amount of controlled energy into the backswing of your putter to make all preparations true.

doesn’t cover all things for all people. In fact 62% of bankruptcies are due to a critical illness and 75% of those who filed for bankruptcy had a health insurance policy.* Men have a 1 in 2 risk of developing cancer during their lifetime and women have a 1 in 3 risk,** yet nearly two-thirds of cancer-related costs are NOT medical.*** We believe that a solid financial foundation includes health insurance and yes, life insurance. Here’s why . . . Most life insurance policies just pay out at death. However, that is not how our plans work. Our life insurance has “living benefits” – benefits you do not have to die to use! If you experience a terminal, chronic or critical illness, you can access your death benefit while living—even if you experience a heart attack, cancer, stroke, ALS, major organ transplant, the inability to perform 2 out of 6 activities of daily living (toileting, transferring, bathing, eating, etc.) and many other ailments.

Experiencing a terminal, critical, or chronic illness leads to increased expenses and decreased income. Once your expenses reach a number higher than your income, you begin creating debt.
Life insurance with living benefits provides benefits when they are needed the most – helping to fill the gaps a health insurance policy doesn’t cover, especially non-medical expenses, such as mortgage, car, food, etc.
Our living benefits are included at no additional cost on Term, Universal Life or Index Universal Life insurance policies. We offer more than death insurance; we offer life insurance for life.

PREPARE YOUR CAR FOR WINTER WEATHER Winterizing your vehicle is a wise idea. A vehicle check before the temperatures drop is a sensible way to avoid the inconvenience of being stranded out in the cold and with the unexpected expense of emergency repairs. An investment of an hour or two to have your vehicle checked is all it takes to have peace of mind and help avoid the cost and hassle of a breakdown during severe weather.
5
1
Good visibility is vital. If your wipers are leaving streaks of water on the windshield, or if the wiper-blade rubber shows any signs of cracking or stiffness, replace them with a new set. In addition, don’t try to use your wipers to remove adhered ice from the windshield; keep an ice scraper in the car for frosty mornings. If the vehicle is parked outside, placing the wipers in the “raised” position before an overnight snow will keep them from freezing to the windshield.
Let the engine fully warm up. Condensation in the exhaust system can cause premature rust-through of exhaust components. To help prevent this, try to let the engine reach its full normal operating temperature whenever you drive the vehicle. This will evaporate the moisture in the system. If this isn’t possible, try to limit short trips.
2
Check the heater and windshield defroster. Winter will put your vehicle’s windshield defrosters to the test. It’s a good idea to check that they are in working order. While you’re at it, check the air-conditioner, too. An easy way to speed up the defrost process is to turn on the A/C. (You can leave the temperature dial on warm so you don’t have to suffer.) And now is also a good time to make sure your heating system works.
3
Keep the battery in good shape. Your vehicle’s battery is especially hard hit when the mercury plummets. Cold temperatures reduce its cranking power. In fact, at about zero degrees F, your battery only has about half the cranking power it has at 80 degrees. At the same time, the thickened oil in a cold engine makes it harder to turn over. So the battery is asked to do more while in a weakened condition.
4
Prevent freeze-ups. Water can get into door and trunk locks and then freeze, effectively locking you out of the vehicle. To prevent this, lubricate the locks with a silicone spray or door-lock lubricant. If they’re already frozen, use a lock antifreeze product to thaw them.
Check to see if your engine requires lower-viscosity oil in the winter. This isn’t nearly as hard as it sounds. Viscosity simply refers to how thick or thin a fluid is. (Tar has a higher viscosity than orange juice, for example.) Engine oils are sold with different viscosity levels. When winter arrives, the outside temperature drops. The colder the oil is, the thicker it will be. A thicker oil doesn’t circulate as well in an engine during start-up as a thinner oil would. If the oil is too thick, the engine doesn’t get the proper lubrication.
6
7
Inspect the belts and hoses. Extreme cold can cause rubber parts to become brittle and fail. Check the radiator and heater hoses for cracking, leaking, or contamination from oil or grease. The hoses should be firm yet pliable when you squeeze them. Replace them if they feel brittle or overly soft.
8
Check antifreeze mixture. For most vehicles, the cooling system should be flushed at least every two years. This helps keep corrosion from building up in the system. The ideal mixture of antifreeze (coolant) and water inside your vehicle’s radiator is 50:50. If the mixture deviates from this norm, then hot- and cold-weather performance can suffer. If you were to put pure water in your vehicle’s radiator, it would freeze at 32° F.

Urinary incontinence: Don’t suffer in silence Although urinary incontinence ntinence is common with aging, it iss not ver the age of normal. 1 in 5 people over 40 suffers from urgency or frequency symptoms, and some of them will not ot i time. ti P ti t often ft make it to the bathroom in Patients suffer in silence because they think it is common and that nothing can be done to help them. In fact, we can actually cure most patients.
I workout 3-4 times a week with medium to heavy weights mixed with an arduous cardiovascular routine. When I was asked to try Pure Barre located in The Shoppes at Webb Ginn I’ll admit, I was thinking...”I got this.” Quickly into the workout I realized just how challenging it is! It’s truly for any fitness level and even if you are advanced, trust me, you feel the burn! The entire class centers around small, repetitive movements with little to no weights. That may sound easy, but let me assure you, it isn’t. By the time you are finished with class your abs, legs, arms and backside have a muscular burn reminding you of just how effective the workout was. The class focuses on isolated movements with lots of reps that are focused on squeezing individual muscle groups which is unlike any workout that I’ve ever done. It was fun pretending to be a ballerina while doing the bar exercises against the wall, but don’t let the “fun” fool you, lots of the moves were quite challenging. Squatting and flexing and ‘tucking’ my way through class made my muscles shake and “10 more seconds” seemed like forever, but I loved every minute of it. Besides the challenge of the class the aspect that I enjoyed the most about Pure Barre was the instructor, Tiffany. She did a great job of keeping us all focused and engaged and the music was awesome. It was perfect throughout the entire class. A nice twist from my usual workouts is that when I finished at Pure Barre, I wasn’t drenched in sweat even though I knew I just got an amazing workout. The next day I could feel it, but the muscle fatigue was from muscle groups and parts of my body that I normally don’t feel when I workout at the gym. Pure Barre gave me an overall body workout versus concentrating on one specific muscular group. So if you want to tighten, tone and lift with low impact, I would highly recommend giving Pure Barre a try! I’ll see you there. - Cheri McGinnis Grayson Magazine Writer

Urinary incontinence can occur for many different reasons. It could be from something as simple as drinking caffeine to something more serious such as bladder cancer. In men, prostate enlargement can affect urination. In women, pregnancy, frequent urine infections, and menopause can lead to incontinence. There are 4 main types of incontinence: urge, stress, overflow, and functional. Sometimes patients have more than one type and a urologist will be able to determine the cause. A visit to the urologist is often delayed because patients are embarrassed by their incontinence. Often patients have started to use absorbent pads or diapers to “deal” with their symptoms. As a urologist, our job is to make patients feel comfortable so that we can get to the bottom of this very treatable condition. Treatment can include behavioral modification, medications, medical devices, or surgery; although most often, surgery is not necessary. A typical visit will include a thorough history and physical, a urinalysis to rule out infection or blood in the urine, and an ultrasound of the bladder to ensure the bladder is emptying properly. The most important first step is to seek help from a professional. With the proper evaluation and appropriate treatment, you can regain control of your bladder and your life. Dr. Vishal Bhalani is a urologist with Advanced Urology.

Gifts: It’s the Thought that Counts, Right?
M
any say that it’s the thought that counts when giving or receiving a gift, though I believe this to be true - what happens when the giver and receiver have a different thought about said gift? And, since the holiday season is upon us, I suppose now is as good of a time as any to dive into the subject. Some people place a lot of love and value into the gifts they give and receive, others don’t see what the big deal is in the exchange; they place love and value in other areas, gifts are just a bonus, or an obligation. That is the starting point of why gift giving/receiving can be tricky business. You’ve heard it a hundred times, “it’s the thought that counts”, but what happens when expectations get in the way? Let me tell you a story to paint the picture… My first Christmas with Ryan as a dating couple came at the same time frame as our one year anniversary, we were 23 years old then. I wanted to get him something really special to show him how much I loved him and so I got him a rifle he had had his eye on for hunting. I knew it was the perfect gift
28
to surprise him with. From him, I imagined that I would get a traditional romantic gift, something symbolic of his love for me, like say, a necklace for example. It didn’t have to be expensive, just something to symbolize his love for me. What I got was a vacuum cleaner along with a variety of other gifts, but nothing I saw as romantic, since he could have given these gifts to his sister as well. I was upset by this. The gifts were nice and all, but they didn’t meet my expectation of what I saw as symbolic of romantic love. In his mind though, it was the perfect gift because it would prevent me from borrowing my neighbor’s vacuum. To him, he was sending a love message. I just wasn’t able to translate it. I can laugh about this now as that was 18 years ago and of course we are still happily married. That was a major lesson for me. Often times, we set ourselves up for disappointment based on our own expectations; we get in our own way. As I look back now, I can see how much I’ve grown. For me, gift giving is still one way of showing love, but how one person conveys the message may be entirely different than another. The old adage, “it’s the thought that counts,” can suddenly sound trite when the ‘thought’ gets misinterpreted, but we all have different ideas of what a thoughtful gift may be. For me, receiving any gift is a bonus, but mostly I know that if I’ve made somebody’s gift list this holiday season, I must be pretty special to them and that is the true gift in itself. Holiday Wine
THE WINE CORNER by Claire Addison Wine Manager / Sommelier
T
The Holidays are a magical time. We get to spend time with the people that matter most in our lives and celebrate with good food, good times, and good wine. As a wine director and a restaurant manager, the most frequent question I get during the holidays is “what wine goes best with my holiday meal? Spumante or Prosecco:
These alternatives to champagne are increasing their popularity for a few reasons. One of them being that they are much more affordable than their French counterparts. Proseccos are made from the Glera grape, which lends more for a fruit forward approach in the winemaking. Most are off-dry, meaning there is a slight touch of sweetness, adding to their approachable nature. Spumantes are made from Moscato Bianco and tend to be sweeter, mostly served as an aperitif or to accompany dessert. 30
Both of these sparklers are mostly inexpensive and make excellent substitutes for champagne, and can cleanse the palate between or before courses. While some people have traditions not only for food, but also wine, it can still be a challenge to buy wine that will be both affordable and complimentary to not only a diverse group of people but also a varied and copious food array. gatherings.
Pinot Noir:
Pinot Noirs have always been known as the golden children of the wine world. These very small, finicky grapes take much more love and care to produce than the thicker skinned Cabernets of the world. The weather conditions, moisture, and harvests have to be done with the greatest of care for the wines to reach their fullest potential. Grayson Magazine
Of all of the producers of Pinot Noir, Oregon’s Willamette Valley are by far some of the most superior. Oregon’s laws dictate that the wine must be at least 90% Pinot Noir to be bottled under that varietal designation. These light bodied wines offer structure without the drying tannins that often accompany Cabernet Sauvignons. The acidity and the fruit forward characteristics will compliment any vegetable dish, or cranberry garnish.

Rose:
This wine is the jack of all trades. For too many years the market was flooded with sweet, pink wines from California. The French have always had these wines whatever the weather because of the dry, crisp acidity and the ability of the wine to stand up to almost any cuisine.
Provence produces most of the rose’s from France, pairing the wine with their garlicky aioli sauces and tangy bouillabaisse stews that the area is also known for. These wines are perfect holiday wines because they can be enjoyed before, during, or after a meal.

Minimize Your Taxes Planning is the key ingredient to minimizing your taxes. We all have to pay taxes, but with proper planning we will only pay ‘our fair share’. Taxes should be considered an ordinary and necessary expense, which can be controlled just like office expense, entertainment, or utilities. As a W-2 wage earner, your taxes are also controllable. Every individual and every business is unique and your personal goals have an affect on what generates ‘your fair share’ of taxes. Never do anything to save taxes that are not an economic sound decision or goes against your personal and/or business goals. Planning should be a time set aside every month or two beginning at the first of the year to get maximum results from your efforts. As we are now in November, if you have not been planning for the 2015 tax year, certain planning opportunities no longer exist as their window for implementation has passed. There are still opportunities available in this short time. A major misperception is that you can bring your tax information in March for last year and the CPA can fix it. Not true! At that time we can only prepare a tax return. Maybe, if you are not covered by a retirement plan, we can recommend utilizing an IRA to help reduce your taxes. We can review and recommend deductible items that you have overlooked, but our planning opportunities have passed.

he holidays are coming‌ but are you really ready to shop yourself, your skills and abilities? Most employers are already thinking about the upcoming holidays and have already started their marketing strategies to increase sales. Most job seekers think they should not continue their job search during the holiday season, but I would differ. So, how do you plan to increase your marketing efforts as a job seeker? There are at least five marketing strategies that you must consider this year in your job search efforts. 1.  Determine your brand-what are you selling? Focus on your target positions. 2.  Create your commercial-what makes you unique? You must be able to answer this question in today’s competitive marketplace. 3.  Make sales calls-do you network? More than 80% of job seekers find their next opportunity through networking. 4.  Create a marketing plan-who is your audience? Create a marketing plan to share with people in your network. 5.  Close the sale-are you ready to interview? Conducting a mock interview with a career coach will help to prepare you for those upcoming interviews. By starting on these five strategies now you will be ready to increase your marketing efforts during the holiday season while most of your competition is not marketing at all! Contact RCS to speak with a career coach today. (866) 861-1821.

Title: Stand Your Ground Author: Victoria Christopher Murray Publication date: June 30, 2015 Publisher: Touchstone Pages: 368 Murray has written an excellent, thought-provoking novel that will keep readers in complete suspense until the very end. Stand Your Ground tackles the controversial Stand Your Ground law that seems to have created a division in many communities across the country. Murray takes a unique approach in that she writes about a tragic tale through the voice of two women; the victim’s mother, Janice and Meredith, the shooter’s wife. The loss of their only child brings unbearable conflict to Janice’s marriage, which adds to the grief and pain that she and her husband are experiencing. Meredith, completely dependent upon her husband, must decide whether to hold on to a secret that could possibly send him to prison or tell the District Attorney, which will surely end her current standard of living and her position within their tight knit community. This novel is filled with many interesting twists and turns that result in an unexpected ending. Murray depicts each woman’s viewpoint of this terrible incident with brutal honesty that is sure to cause meaningful and healing discussions within book clubs and reading groups for a while to come. Stand Your Ground is a must read. Ivy Valentine Pate is the CEO of Wild Ivy Publishing. She can be reached at ivypate@wildivypublishing.com 42
