Sounds great, right? The not-sogreat part is there’s a waiting list which can range approximately 6 months to 2 years, or more! Unlike a normal waiting list, this list is based on medical necessity and not seniority. It prioritizes individuals that are most at risk for nursing home placement. Qualifying for this program can be tricky for more reasons than one.
For starters there are strict income and asset limits. Secondly, it’s critical that you are prepared for the interview process you’ll undergo when getting added to that waiting list since that’s where your priority score will be assessed. Last but not least, Medicaid applications should be easy. The truth is - they’re not. There are State forms that must be submitted, specific medical documents, financial verifications, and chances of denial can be high. At the Family First Firm we’ve helped thousands of families for over a decade all over the Sunshine State. We are the Elder Law Experts when it comes to sheltering income and assets for individuals needing Medicaid thereby accelerating the Medicaid qualification process while preserving their legacy.
