“ I was thinking about the range of weather patterns that exist and also the range of experiences that are held within a home. As the sculpture climbs up the wall, its form opens outward and there is more air between the lines... a drawing in space. -Alison Stigora, artist Cumulus, burnt wood and branches with silver patina, 2013

Our collection was inspired by architectural forms, the soft color blocking of artist Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park series and the textile compositions of designer Lucienne Day. The combination of these inspirations results in a collection that is both modern yet focuses on hand processes- we hand painted and printed each garment in a two part process using vintage hand carved wood blocks from India. Fittingly, we shot the collection in an art curator’s home showing the relationship between art and fashion. It’s our joy to bring you our second collection from Senpai + Kohai, designed and lovingly created by hand from Philadelphia. -Melissa Choi + Pia Panaligan
