Let’s party like it’s 2019! As Californians continue

to get vaccinated and COVID-19 cases drop, life is returning to a new kind of normal. The Golden State continues to incentivize vaccinations for the hesitant, off ering cash prizes and lottery entries. But the best prize of all isn’t a free donut or a $50 gift card; it’s knowing that you’ll be protected as virus variants pop up around the world.

With events fi nally returning this June, the LGBTQ+ community and its allies are planning Pride Month celebrations at destinations across Northern California. From Pride Day rafting trips on Sacramento’s American River to Pride movie nights and art installations in San Francisco, these are the fi rst in-person Pride events since 2019 after last year’s all-virtual celebrations. Whether you’re interested in a Pride pub crawl, yoga class, or art show, fi nd in-person and virtual events on our event calendar (page 46).

Beyond Pride, our June issue showcases local cannabis fi lmmaker Matt Grimshaw, whose documentary From Outlaws to In-laws: The Heroes Harvest highlights the need for cannabis donations for veterans. California’s cannabis-donation program was shuttered by marijuana’s legalization in 2018, and the fi lm shows how it restarted in the Emerald Triangle to help veterans suff ering from PTSD and other post-combat issues.

As the world reopens, we’re thrilled to continue sharing stories of the transformational power of cannabis and community here in Northern California. And, in the coming months, look for the return of the glossy print copies of Sensi NorCal that we all know and love.
