Cannabis Carnival

Celebrate New England’s cannabis culture at this Massachusetts festival.

If you’ve missed socializing with other cannabis enthusiasts over the last 18 months, you’ll want to mark August 20 and 21 on your calendar. Those are the dates of the 2021 Terptown Throwdown, a cannabis-themed music and arts festival featuring live bands, working artists, a variety of vendors, and tasty treats. The winners of the Throwdown’s homegrown cannabis competition will also be announced.

Held in Spencer, Massachusetts, at the Spencer Fairgrounds, the two-day festival, founded as an annual event in 2017, will host musical acts including Fortunate Youth, Tropidelic, Soul Rebel Project, and The Movement. Several visual artists will create and sell paintings and other work. Get tickets via the festival’s website.

REVEL IN THE DARK

Experience the magic of the night sky in Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness.

If you’re looking for a unique summer getaway, consider a backpacking trip to the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Maine Woods Dark Sky Park. Last May the International Dark-Sky Association named this 75,000-acre parcel, located in the state’s 100-Mile Wilderness, an International Dark Sky Park—a status given to land that has scientifi c, educational, and cultural signifi cance in addition to extraordinary views of the night sky. The uninhabited tract of forest is one of the darkest places on the East Coast.
