CRAV 30 YEARS Work by 8 students from University of Aveiro, who developed a new identity for CRAV (Rugby Club Arcos de Valdevez) to mark the 30th anniversary of the club. This project was developed Strategic Design where the end goal was the planning and launch of the strategy of a new image from an existing brand.The target of this study is to build a concept / image and corporate suggestions to enable CRAV to grow in the local and national level. The study was submitted to a competition phase that was accepted and was later adopted by the club in its 30th anniversary year.

The Alumia project is to develop a new brand of Portuguese matches. Knowing that Portugal, in its past, possessed a strong Fosforeira industry, we intend to now avail these roots to enter or combine this project to companies wishing to invest in national projects. The packaging Alumia distinguished from conventional due to its operating mechanism and identity. This structure resembles a toothpick holder, but when the phosphorus is removed from the inside of the package, this causes the head of phosphorus Rasure sandpaper lying inside it, igniting the match automatically in a simple manner.

The design of AAUAv's logo, is based on a graphical view, in perspective of Crasto bridge, key architectural element, located in the University of Aveiro, and instantly recognizable by all students. Alongside of the literal perception of the bridge - as a structure that provides passage of students over Ria de Aveiro linking two important parts of University of Aveiro - it has a more meaningful symbolism that we wanted to bring to our project. The bridge is seen as the symbol for a different plan, route and path that is the main factor in the academic life of students of Aveiro. It symbolizes the unifying line between the students and AAUAv, that physically has its headquarters, along with other infrastructures, isolated geographically from the rest of the University.


CONCEPT Associated to the graphical view of the logo there is a important structure. The premise of this structure is to represent the bottom-up perspective of the functioning of AAUAv. This association belongs to all students, and not the other way around. The logo symbolizes the AAUAv in their plurality and deconstruction for its various activities like: services, and mainly nuclei of students, be they cultural, sporting or associative.

These nuclei build the basis of AAUAv. That's why the plurality and diversity are the greatest strength of this association. This qualities are visible in the various logo forms too. Regarding the logo, we can see, when all its different forms are together, they represent the spirit of the students and all nuclei.

The UA Cup is an icon that represents the variety of sports at the University of Aveiro. It is a competition between students representing their courses in this tournament. Over time, this competition has been growing both in dimension and impact in students' lives. More and more courses are engaging and participating, and more modalities are emerging. However, the UA Cup is not just the rivalry between courses; There is much more attached to it. This competition also drives students create friendships and share interests with each other, cultivating physical and mental well-being, for a better academic performance. This is the basis of the new image of the Cup UA. The new symbol was built on a plot originated by the extension of the lines that form the structure of the logo AAUAv. Thus, a strong connection with the event's organizer is established. The new logo-brand has also a second reading in itself, which is the representation of the meaning of this competition. The pride and the glory are, throughout history, characteristics associated to triumph. Cup UA aims to enhance the triumph of the champion. Therefore, the torch emerges as a symbolic artifact highly associated to winners. The flame rises from the torch representing the commitment of all stakeholders in the ďŹ ght for the trophy. Logically, by association of values, the warm colors are associated with ďŹ re, referring to the burning passion arising from the chest of the athletes giving them the ambition to succeed.
