The Positive Effects of Bremelanotide to Women

There is an ongoing study about the effect of bremelanotide on the human body, in particular to the women. Bremelanotide is said to not only has good effects and result in treating erectile dysfunction for men, but it can also help in treating FSD or female sexual dysfunction as well. Bremelanotide or pt141 was originally used for intranasal administration in treating female sexual dysfunction but, in 2008, the application for this drug has been temporarily discontinued due to the serious concerns over the increase of blood pressure in every pt141 administration. In December of 2014, Palatin Technologies have conducted a human Phase III studies that show bremelanotide has little effect in the patient’s blood pressure was administered via subcutaneous drug delivery.

The Phase 1 study of pt141 was conducted by the Palatin Technologies and subjected 32 premenopausal women with no sexual dysfunction. In this study, the drug is shown to be safe and well-tolerated by its user. On the secondary endpoint of the study, it tackles the pt141’s effect on the patient’s vaginal blood flow. There it shows a significant difference in the subject’s vaginal flow that is treated with bremelanotide or pt141 over placebo. As the studies continued to Phase 2a, a pilot clinical study evaluates bremelanotide in 18 premenopausal women that are diagnosed with female sexual dysfunction or FSD has provided favorable results.

Below are the key clinical findings from the Phase 2A study:

Patients that are subjected to use pt141 reports the increased level of sexual desire and genital arousal compared to those who are using placebo There is correlation found between genital arousal and increased sexual desire in patients that are subjected to Bremelanotide or pt141 Mild side effects are shown including: Headache Nausea Nasal congestion

The Phase 2 at-home study of pt141 or Bremelanotide to patients that are diagnosed with female sexual dysfunction was completed and results are still subjected to comprehensive analyzing. The clinical study shows positive effects of pt141 to women suffering from FSD or female sexual dysfunction. Pt141 shows a great potential in helping those women regain their ability to feel lust once again. Although the study is still in its early years, one can hope of it to provide a positive outcome to those who are suffering to such dysfunction. There may still be some question that are needed to clear up and some studies that needed to be done but, with a great start and a positive result can be a good start for women with FSD.
