MODEL DP6100 SERIES VALIDATOR GENERAL SPECIFICATION GENERAL The Datapark DP6100 Validator reads magnetically encoded data from entry tickets, monthly, credit and debit cards. Reading an entry ticket signals the DP6100 to transmit the data to the DP6000 Cashier Station for automatic fee calculation. Upon completion of a vehicle revenue transaction, the DP6100 validates the parking ticket. The DP6100 interfaces with the DP6000 Cashier station and DP6400 Fee Display. The DP6100 also has the capability of operating as a monthly or debit card encoder in a stand-alone or on-line facility. In addition the DP6100 has credit card capability when in an on-line facility.

OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW The DP6100 reads the magnetic stripe on an entry ticket and transmits the data to the DP6000 Cashier Station for automatic fee calculation. The DP6100 can read the following data from an entry ticket: Lot number (01 to 255) Entry ticket machine number (01 to 32) Applicable rate (A to AF) Ticket number (1 to 99999) Month, Date (2 digits each) Time of issuance (4 digits) To complete a cash transaction the ticket enters the validator. Selecting the Cashier Station TOTAL key opens the gate and signals the DP6100 to validate the ticket. To complete debit or credit card transaction, after entering the ticket into the validator, insert the card. The cashier station approves the transaction raises the gate and the DP6100 returns the card and then validates the ticket. To complete a monthly transaction, enter the card into the validator. The cashier station checks the card validity, raises the gate and the DP6100 returns the card. 3

MODEL DP6100 SERIES VALIDATOR FEATURES 1. Automatic ticket reading 2. The DP 6100 Validator accepts the following: payment and discount Entry or exit parking tickets Credit Cards Monthly Cards Debit Cards Service or discount tickets Prepaid tickets Entry ticket with a discount stamp (0 to 255) from the DP400 Hand or DP1350 Electronic Validators 3. Validation Printing After processing a successful transaction the validator prints the following information on the ticket: 01 0002M09/14 12:34 A 012.75AB 01 Station number 0002 Transaction number M Printed on Manual transactions only 09/14 Current Month/Date 12:34 Current Hour/Minute A Transaction type 012.75 Fee AB Discounts and coupons applied 4. MODEL DP6100 SERIES VALIDATOR

DP 5901 Print head Checking the Print Head LEDs The print head attaches the three LEDs, power socket and magnetic head communication port to the back of the board. The back of the board is the front of the print head unit. The validatorenables easy access to the print head unit from either the left or right hand side. This is not the case with other stations. When in service, the yellow (D9) CPU led pulses continuously indicating an operational processor. The other two remaining green (D12) TxD and red (D11) RxD leds blink while the DP5901 communicates with the DP5930 magnetic head. This occurs while validating the ticket.

DP5930 Magnetic head Dip Switch settings The DP5930 does not recognize dip switch numbers 1 to 3. The dip switch number 4 is OFF for a DP6100 validator magnetic head. LEDs The magnetic head has six LEDs. Communication with the Print Head The two LEDs red (D1) and green (D2) located above the PRINT/RS232 communication port pulse when the DP5930 communicates with the DP5901 print head. Communication occurs during ticket validation. ARCNET Communication Locate the two LEDs red (D3) and green (D4) found beneath the ARCNET communication port. Lit leds confirm the ARCNET communication. Processor Operational Find at the bottom center and just right of the dip switches, a continually pulsing red (D24) LED. This indicates an operational processor. Motor 7

Just above the power socket is a red (D21) LED. When lit this led indicates the motor is working.

MODEL DP6100 SERIES VALIDATOR Validator Housing The plastic housing is a three piece unit consisting of a cover with locking clip, base with release slide and back plate. To access the printer ribbon and printed circuit boards remove the top cover only. Removing the cover To release the locking clip and remove the cover, push the front of the cover toward the back of the unit. As soon as the locking clip passes through the release slide the cover can be removed.

Dismantling the housing To remove the print head or magnetic head from the validator requires the dismantling of the housing. After removing the cover the base and back plate remain. Disconnect the cashier station cable from the back plate. Disconnect the power and communication cabling from both the DP5930 magnetic and DP5901 print head units. Firmly grip the back plate and slide it upwards. Removing the back plate enables the DP5901 to slide free of the DP5930.

Reassembling the housing The housing and components of the validator have precise interlocking clips and mouldings. To fit the components correctly, remember that the printed circuit boards are on the same side of the unit as the cable connection is on the back plate. Place the DP5930 magnetic head in its correct position and then slide and clip the DP5901 print head into position. The back plate slides easily into position when the unit is assembled correctly. 8

Reconnect the cables to the components and then reconnect cabling to the cashier station.
