MILO Virt ual Training Updat e

As you know, the Tucson Company received a $1,200 donation, earmarked for "realistic scenario based virtual training", similar to that offered at HUB Gun Store.

You asked me to take the lead on this project. A pilot program was launched and the feedback was exceptional. We will be discussing this at the next business meeting so I wanted to get you up to speed, and invite your input.

St rat egic and effect ive

General concept:

- Develop reality based virtual training sessions, with scenarios that force the Ranger to demonstrate and develop important teaching points like:

- Situational awareness

- Good judgment and communication skills

- Identify lethal vs. non-lethal threats

- Verbal deescalation techniques

-

-

-

-

Use of cover and concealment

Safe firearms manipulation skills

Accurate shot placement/safe back-drop

Tourniquet application

- and more...

-

When I met with Paul Parks, the Training Director at the HUB (link to his bio). we:

- Identified the specific video scenarios best suited to reinforce the important teaching points.

- Designed two separate course training sessions, one for regular Rangers, and one for Level 4's.

- Negotiated a special price of $100 for each 2-hour session ($25 per Ranger if 4 Rangers attend).

Select Rangers Invit ed

- I invited all of Command Staff and other select Rangers to experience and evaluate a 2-hour virtual training session.

Select Rangers will speak at:

- Those who attended were:

- Chamber of Commerce Meetings

-

Walter Ayres

- Trade Associations Meetings

-

Jeff Land

- Law Enforcement Events

-

Tom Stewart

- Corporate Trade Shows

- Rich Butler

- and more...

Harper Peterson

The Form at

- Each session had a maximum of four Rangers in the simulator.

- They paired up and went through two scenarios, while the other two Rangers watched.

- After each scenario we conducted an after action review.

Video for enhanced learning

- Each session was videotaped.

- A link to review all video scenarios was sent to participants after the training.

Training effect iveness

- Several of the Rangers experienced physiological like auditory exclusion, tunnel vision, loss of fine motor skills etc.

- One thing I learned from you at Talon's TECCcourse is this:

"When your brain thinksit isreal, it isreal. Realistictrainingis effectivetraining".

- Brett Wright, Jeff Land and Tom Stewart were very vocal about the need for this training for all Rangers.

- 100%of participants felt the training was extremely useful. They would like to propose a Company vote to incorporate the MILO Simulator Training into our normal training curriculum.

- I would appreciate your input prior to the business meeting:

- As you are in charge of our training, is this something you see as beneficial?

- Anything we can do to improve the concept?

- Important teaching points you want to include?

- Would you want to expand this to incorporate a session specifically designed for FTO's and their probies? This would allow the probie to learn at a faster rate, and the FTO to more accurately assess their skill level, and areas needing improvement.
