Having Your Business Insured

Page 1

Having your business insured In a world where the workplace seems like one of the safest places to be, it is becoming more and more important that individuals understand the potential for crime or violence to take place in the office. In fact, homicide is one of the leading causes of work related death in the United States. The FBI even has a page dedicated to the dangers of workplace violence, and the importance of identifying warning signs early. Because violence is often preceded by other acts of anger or aggression, it is important to identify these acts and respond accordingly.

Problems at Work Workplace violence can be defined as any instance of harassment, assault, intimidation, or threat that takes place in or around the workplace. As employees in American companies, and companies around the world, we have the right to a safe workplace, but that does not ensure that others will respect that right. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their workplace, but part of this right includes a responsibility to first act in a manner that increases the safety of the workplace, and second, to report any actions that make you feel uncomfortable and especially unsafe at work. Violence in the workplace is not a new phenomenon, but it is increasing, as it increases, awareness is also increased. Only through awareness can changes be made, and offices made safer. Violence in the workplace does not only affect those who are employed by a particular company, it may in fact also affect customers and others who may be temporarily inside a place of business. Keeping the safety of all individuals in mind, the workplace needs to serve as a refuge and a place of productivity for all who work there.

Relieve Stress! Providing good ways to remove stress is one effective method for the abolishment of workplace violence. As stress is released productively, and employees are allowed to appropriately voice their opinions, the likelihood of violent acts being committed is reduced.

Making the health and wellness of employees a priority is another great way to prevent office violence. This can be done by providing adequate help to employees to manage stress, and by providing health insurance benefits that are affordable and convenient. Happy and healthy employees are less likely to commit violent acts, and will be more effective and productive members of the team. Along with health insurance, many other types of insurance is available to help all parts of your company run more smoothly, including, Commercial Insurance in Philadelphia and Renters Insurance in Philadelphia to protect the buildings in which you work. Having this kind of protection will help your company in times of trouble and prepare you for a more positive future. Outside of the work place, it may be helpful for employees to be informed about Auto Insurance, Homeowners Insurance, and Life Insurance in Philadelphia. As every part of each individual’s life becomes more secure, they will be more likely to react positively and to work as part of a synergetic workplace.
