The Pros and Cons of Obamacare There are many people that do not understand how Obamacare is going to affect them. Health insurance education is important and figuring out how you are going to be affected by the Obamacare act will ensure that you are prepared for any changes to come. Taking your health insurance education seriously will ensure that you are not blindsided by any changes that may be negative and that you are able to take full advantage of the positive effects that this policy change may have.

The Intentions of Obamacare First, it is important to understand that the policy was put into place to reduce the cost of health care in the United States as a whole. When Obamacare was first conceptualized there were 32 million Americans that did not have access to health insurance. There are a lot of people that do not realize that those people that do not have insurance often head to the emergency room when there is something wrong with them. Because there are so many people visiting the emergency room on a consistent basis, there was an increased cost of health care for everyone in the United States. Under Obamacare every single health insurance plan is required to cover ten health care benefits. The first benefit that is required is outpatient care; this is not a large change considering most insurance companies already cover this. The second benefit is trips to the emergency room, with the Obamacare plan any trip to the emergency plan cannot cost an individual more than any other trip to the emergency room would cost. Preventative sicknesses, prescription drugs, mental illnesses, maternity care, lab tests, and even pediatric care are also covered under the Obamacare plan.

The Cons of Obamacare Currently, there are a lot of people in the United States that buy their own private health insurance. Even though someone may be perfectly happy with their own private health insurance, their health insurance policies are being cancelled. The cancellation of these policies is happening because their healthcare policy does not meet the ten essential health care policy qualifications that are required as a result of Obamacare. Not only will people lose their insurance policies, but those individuals that choose to not get a health insurance plan will be charged an additional tax. This additional tax will increase

throughout the following years. It is important that any individual that is going to opt out of health insurance understands exactly what they are going to have to pay in the upcoming years. Finally, many citizens have seen an increase in taxes. Medicare taxes increased, to ensure that Medicare is able to provide the proper services to the people of the United States. Health insurance companies will also be required to pay more in taxes. Unfortunately, many people will see this increase in taxes for the insurance company as an increase in their premiums or even in their deductibles. Learn more about your health insurance plan so you can be sure that you know what changes are going to occur with your plan. Learning all that you can, as early as you can, is a great way to ensure that you are ready to take on any changes that occur with your plan.
