SETON HALL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI RELATIONS Annual Report, Fiscal Year 2012 July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012
Dear Fellow Pirates, The mission of the Alumni Relations department includes the word “inspire.” Our mission calls on us to inspire others to become informed about, involved with and invested in Seton Hall. As you will see in the following report, Fiscal Year 2012 was a year filled with such inspiration. More than ever before in our history, alumni of Seton Hall were inspired to stay informed about the life and progress of the University, inspired to get involved in regional chapters and volunteer opportunities, and inspired to become invested in our alma mater’s future. Alumni Relations is responsible for strengthening the quality and frequency of alumni engagement. As a Seton Hall graduate myself, I am proud to report that the quality and frequency of alumni engagement at our University continues to increase. Over the past year, countless alumni have re-connected with Seton Hall. Whether through their attendance at events, volunteering to work on a University initiative, encouraging a student to consider applying for admission or making a first-time donation, they were inspired to support Seton Hall. The following pages share numerous examples of Pirates stepping up and getting involved. To each of these Pirates who have re-discovered their relationship with Seton Hall, and to all those who have been steadfast supporters, I say “thank you.” Your involvement inspires others. As you join record numbers of alumni in showing support for Seton Hall in so many ways, others are inspired to join our global network of informed, involved and invested Pirates.
Go Pirates! Warmest Regards,
Matthew Borowick ’89/M.B.A. ’94 Associate Vice President of Alumni and Government Relations Front Cover: Amy Smith ’10 and Ray Malouf ’09 were married on August 27, 2011. More than 20 other Pirates celebrated with the bride and groom. 1

Alumni Clubs
Volunteerism
Seton Hall’s Alumni Clubs bring together graduates who share common connections from their student experience. The Alumni Club program allows graduates to join groups of interest to them, start new groups and gain official recognition for groups that alumni have formed on their own.
Volunteerism is at the very heart of alumni engagement. It is through the selfless work of so many dedicated Pirates that Seton Hall is able to move forward, to accomplish its goals, and to continue to be a place where leaders learn. Alumni Relations manages a variety of opportunities for alumni involvement. Many include assisting to market the University to prospective high school students. Alumni whose lives have taken them far from campus are invited to volunteer with their local alumni chapters. Others can start an Alumni Club or dedicate time to mentor a current student.
Fiscal Year 2012 saw the creation of new clubs, growth of existing clubs, and a high level of interest from alumni interested in forming groups in the future. Most notable, the newly-formed Young Alumni Club experienced exceptional results, exceeding all goals and seeing more than 600 attendees at events and an increase in young alumni giving of 42%.
The Alumni Volunteer Interest Survey allows respondents to select areas of University life in which they would like to become more involved. When opportunities arise that meet these interests, Alumni Relations facilitates contact between the alumni and interested campus partners. Complete the survey and share your interests at www.shu.edu/go/volunteer.
