Letter from the Vice President for Student Development Students, Welcome Back to SEU! We are so excited to have you back on campus. Over the past few months, we have really been looking forward to you returning to SEU. Our campus is not the same without you. Although this academic year might look different from previous years, our Student Development team is working around the clock to make sure you still have many opportunities to embrace the culture on campus and build relationships! With the presence of COVID-19, there are some adjustments to our campus policies, as our nation adapts to new social norms. I know all of us have been greatly affected by COVID-19. It is in the midst of this time of uncertainty that we believe as Christians we can work together to provide a healthy and safe environment for ourselves and those around us. As we look forward to another academic year, we have put together information on how you can be a “Healthy Citizen� on campus. We believe that one of the greatest ways you can love your neighbor is through following guidelines, such as social distancing and wearing a mask. I am praying peace and joy over you and your family!

Introduction At Southeastern University, we are committed to creating a college experience that is like none other. Although we recognize that life as we know it has changed, we believe that the on-campus experience is critical in your growth and development as a student. As you return to campus this fall, we wanted to highlight health and safety protocols so that we can work together to provide a safe and healthy environment for you to learn, live and grow in. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize that circumstances are ever-evolving. Therefore, in the following pages, we have compiled resources and guidelines for how the university will respond to the pandemic following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the White House, state and local government, and local health departments. With the evolving circumstances, the university will periodically update this student resource with the latest guidelines. We acknowledge from the onset that the university cannot guarantee that individuals will not be exposed to or become infected by COVID-19 by virtue of being on campus. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. We do commit to providing enhanced safety precautions and preventive measures are being taken to make the campus as safe and healthy as reasonably possible for students, faculty, staff and guests.

Being a Healthy Citizen You can play an important role in helping to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by being a Healthy Citizen. This section includes hygiene and respiratory etiquette to help keep you and your fellow students safe and healthy on campus. HAND HYGIENE & RESPIRATORY ETIQUETTE
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the CDC recommends the following: • Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. • Avoid close contact with others (maintain a distance of at least 6 feet). • Cover your mouth and nose with a face cloth when around others. • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Immediately after, wash your hands. CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
The university’s housekeeping and facilities teams are daily cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. Students are highly encouraged to disinfect frequently used surfaces in their dorm rooms or living spaces. MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING
Following CDC guidelines, all students are expected to wear masks in classrooms and where social distancing (6 feet) is not possible. Students, faculty and staff are not permitted to wear masks that are disruptive, offensive or promote illegal drug use. This includes, but not limited to, the use of profanity, inappropriate content (lettering, images, graphics, etc.) or any values that are contrary to the community covenant. SOCIAL GATHERINGS
We realize that a social life is a major component of your college experience. As you interact with others, we ask that you continue to maintain social distancing (6 feet apart) and wear masks when social distancing is not possible. The university will be following the guidelines of state and local government for group gatherings.

Playing Your Part The best known way to prevent the spread of the coronavirus is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The virus is thought to be spread mainly by person-to-person contact. This includes individuals who are in close contact with each other (within 6 feet) and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms. With these considerations, all students are expected to adhere to the guidelines of the CDC, state and local government, and university policies. MONITORING HEALTH
Students are expected to monitor their health daily. This includes taking their temperatures and being alert of COVID-19 symptoms. Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher or symptoms of COVID-19, should stay in their area of residence or seek treatment at Health Services. They may also email covid@seu.edu with questions. Symptoms for COVID-19 include the following: • Fever or chills • Cough • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing • Fatigue • Muscle or body aches • Headache • New loss of taste or smell • Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Nausea or vomiting • Diarrhea WEARING A MASK
Face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings. On campus, students are expected to wear masks in communal areas, academic buildings and dining halls (when not eating). All on-campus students will receive a washable SEU branded face mask. Face masks should be washed after every use. They can be washed in the washing machine or by hand. Make sure to completely dry face masks in a dryer or by hanging them up to air dry after washing them. REPORTING HEALTH SCREENINGS
All students will be required to perform a daily symptom check and record their results. Students are also expected to notify their resident directors or call Health Services at 863.667.5205 if they experience any of the above (under Monitoring Health) symptoms of COVID-19.

PRESENTING SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19
Students who are showing symptoms of COVID-19 are expected to stay in their residences (at home or in their dorm rooms) and immediately notify the SEU COVID case manager at covid@seu.edu. Students can expect a reply within two hours with information about next steps for testing and/or isolation, if appropriate. After business hours and on weekends, students should call 863-600-4066 for guidance. STUDENTS EXPOSED TO A POSITIVE CASE
Students who have had close contact (less than 6 feet distance without a mask for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 may need to isolate, even if they are asymptomatic for COVID-19. Students should immediately notify the SEU COVID case manager at covid@seu.edu. Students can expect a reply within two hours with information about next steps for testing and/or isolation, if appropriate. After business hours and on weekends, students should call 863-600-4066 for guidance.

Healthy Citizen Standards You will be expected to play a vital role in helping to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by upholding the Healthy Citizen Standards through hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, cleanliness and social distancing. Please read below to understand the expectations of these standards for this upcoming year. WEARING A MASK
On campus, students are expected to wear masks in: • Communal areas (lobbies, offices, rooms other than the one assigned per Campus Housing Office, and/or indoor athletic space - unless certain athletic activities, determined by appropriate staff, are not conducive to such use) • Academic buildings (classrooms) • Dining halls (when not eating) Students, faculty and staff are not permitted to wear masks that are disruptive, offensive or promote illegal drug use. This includes, but not limited to, the use of profanity, inappropriate content (lettering, images, graphics, etc.) or any values that are contrary to the community covenant. SELF-SYMPTOM SCREENINGS
All students will be required to: • Perform a daily symptom check prior to attending the first scheduled class and/ or noon every day • Record the results via the SEU COVID App Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher or symptoms of COVID-19, should stay in their area of residence and seek treatment at Health Services. VISITATION REGULATIONS
The university will be following the guidelines of state and local government for large group gatherings. Additionally, students are expected to abide by the following rules: • There will be no open dorms for the Fall 2020 Semester • There will be no overnight visitors allowed on campus for the 2020-2021 Academic Year • Students will be expected to only socialize in their assigned residence hall and outdoor common areas Failure to comply with the expectations set forth for the Healthy Citizen Standards of: Wearing a Mask, Self-Symptom Screenings, and/or Visitation Regulations will result in the following sanctions imposed to the student’s account as per below. Loss of Campus Housing Privileges for remainder of the Academic Semester
Fourth Occurrence (Commuter Student)

ISOLATION/QUARANTINE - RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS ONLY
Students who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are awaiting test results, who have had a high-risk exposure to someone positive with COVID-19 or who have symptoms of COVID-19 will need to: • Contact covid@seu.edu and their respective Resident Director • Isolate until further personal instructions are given via their COVID case manager • Move from their regular campus residence during isolation/quarantine Students who live in-state will be expected to return home to quarantine. Quarantine spaces will be available on campus for students who are unable to return home under the following conditions: • Students must quarantine until cleared by their SEU COVID case manager to return to normal campus activities. • Students in university-supervised quarantine will be provided food, daily medical checks, counseling and other support services, and are therefore expected to not leave the quarantine area for any reason with the exception of a medical emergency. • Students must meet all behavior expectations that will be provided to them by the COVID case manager and other overseeing university officials (to include Resident Directors, Resident & Graduate Assistants, etc). • There will be no exceptions to the above set guidelines regardless of student involvement with work, clubs and organizations, athletic responsibilities, and/ or any other extracurricular involvement that may require leaving isolation premises. • Faculty will be providing a virtual opportunity for the student to participate in their academic responsibilities. It is the student’s responsibility to make further arrangements if necessary. Failure to comply with the expectations set forth for the Healthy Citizen Standards of Isolation/Quarantine expectations will result in the following sanctions imposed to the student’s account as per below. Testing for COVID-19 On-campus COVID testing will be available in Health Services for all students. STUDENTS AWAITING TEST RESULTS
Students presenting with COVID-19 symptoms and who have gone for COVID-19 testing will be asked to isolate until test results are received. As a reminder, students should notify the SEU COVID case manager at covid@seu.edu, if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been referred for COVID testing. See “Isolation/Quarantine” below for further details

If students receive negative test results for COVID-19 or their symptoms are determined to not be COVID-19 related, students should follow up with Health Services or their COVID case manager at covid@seu.edu to discuss their return to class and campus activities.
If a student has tested positive for COVID-19, they should immediately notify the SEU COVID case manager at covid@seu.edu. Students can expect a reply within two hours with information about next steps for isolation. After business hours and on weekends, students should call 863-600-4066 for guidance. Students will be directed to isolate either at home or on campus by SEU, the Polk County Health Department, another authorized agency or their primary care physician. See “Isolation/Quarantine” below for further details. STUDENTS EXPOSED TO A POSITIVE CASE
Students who have had close contact (less than 6 feet distance without a mask for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 may need to isolate, even if they are asymptomatic for COVID-19. Isolation is used to separate people who have or may have been infected with the virus from people who are not infected. Students who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are awaiting test results, or have symptoms of COVID-19 will need to contact covid@SEU.edu and isolate. Additionally, students who have had close contact (less than 6 feet distance without a mask for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 may need to isolate, even if they are asymptomatic for COVID-19. Students will be assigned a COVID case manager who will support them daily and review their personal plan. Students are encouraged to return home to self-isolate, unless they are unable to do so. Students living in residence halls will not be allowed to remain in their regular campus residence during isolation/quarantine. Students who live in-state will be expected to return home to quarantine. The university understands that there may be travel challenges for students who live out of state. Quarantine spaces will be available on campus for students who are unable to return home. Students must quarantine until cleared by their SEU COVID case manager to return to normal campus activities. Students in university-supervised quarantine will be provided food, daily medical checks, counseling and other support services.

Students will identify all areas where they were physically present on campus within three days prior to the onset of symptoms or from the known or estimated exposure date. The university will sanitize those areas. The university will follow local, state and federal guidelines for contact tracing and notifying individuals who may have been exposed to COVID-19 positive students. In accordance with privacy laws, the university cannot personally identify infected persons. Faculty will work virtually with students who must quarantine to ensure academic progress continues. NOTIFICATION
Students who test positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to notify covid@seu.edu. Following this notification, the university’s COVID case manager will assess exposure through contact tracing individuals that might be at risk. These individuals will be notified and may be asked to quarantine.

Locations for Testing in Polk County There are two types of testing available for COVID-19: viral tests and antibody tests. A viral test can inform you if you have a current infection. An antibody test might tell you if you had a past infection. Both viral tests and antibody tests are available in Polk County. Our campus Health Services plans to offer both COVID testing options on campus. The following is a compiled list of other testing locations in Polk County.
