So when I used harsh chemicals to strip out my hair’s dark color and then applied 350 degree heat to it recently, the result was far from what I was initially going for. Instead of sleek and glam, I ended up with limp, dry, sad hair. The kind that sends you into panic mode because you’re sure you’ve pushed your luck and this is the day when all your hair is going to fall out.

BOTTOM LINE
I’m not recommending you treat your hair with reckless abandon like I tend to do every time the season changes. However, if you find your locks are feeling dry or damaged and with more split ends than usual, this combo can turn things around in no time at all.
To say my hair was fried after I impulsively colored and then straightened it with a flat iron, would be somewhat of an understatement.

Take shoes, for example. London architect Julian Hakes took a completely fresh look at the very basics of shoe design one day in 2009…and suddenly, an internet phenomenon was unleashed. Hakes realized that high heeled shoes don’t really need all of the elements they currently have. Since all of the wearer’s weight is carried on the ball of the foot and the heel, why is a full foot plate necessary? With this revelation in mind, he set out to design a shoe unlike anything the world had ever seen. The architect began by wrapping his own foot in paper and tape and drawing various geometric designs on the paper
and all around the contours of his foot. After carefully cutting the new shape off with a scalpel, Hakes was left with something that resembled a lime peel, so he dubbed his shoe design Mojito. The experiment with the paper led Hakes to eventually producing the remarkable shoes seen here. The graceful, airy shape wraps around the foot, supporting the ball and heel and but leaving the arch tanta-

It may seem like one of the most simplistic parts of your beauty routine, but did you know you might be washing your face incorrectly? Yes, there is a right and a wrong way to wash your face, and regardless of what your newest product or gadget promises about delivering that deep-down clean you desire, you may still be doing more harm than good if you don’t follow a few basic steps when cleansing your face. Enlarged pores, dull-looking skin and chronic acne problems such as breakouts and blackheads that never seem to disappear, can all be a result of either being too aggressive or not cleansing thoroughly enough. If you struggle with acne, regardless of whether you’re a teen or in middle-age, try the following 5 steps for properly washing your face and you’ll see clearer, softer skin in no time.

Simple, right? Yet many people skip this fundamental step, which could lead to a transfer of acne-causing bacteria from your hands to the face.
Wet your face with lukewarm water
Prep the skin for cleansing using lukewarm, not hot, water. Too hot and you could end up damaging your skin and encouraging excessive oil production.
Use the right face wash
Sure oil-based face washes feel creamy and luxurious but to get all the gunk off your face that’s clogging your pores you need a wash that does a thorough cleanse.
Rub it in
Work the face wash into your skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion for at least 30 seconds, or as directed on the product label. Massage well to get the suds going, just remember to be gentle.
Rinse off with cool water
Cup cool water in your hands and rinse your face completely. Then pat, don’t rub, with a soft towel. As a bonus step, you can apply a light moisturizer appropriate for your skin-type. That’s it! You’re done and on your way to a fresh, soft and smooth complexion.
