Summer Days

Make The Most Of The Midnight Sun

Seward is the best Alaska destination for someone with a long bucket list. From our small town, visitors can explore glaciers, hike mountains, see wildlife, catch their dinner, and more.

If you have just one day in Seward, you can make the most out of our midnight sun. Check out the Alaska SeaLife Center (p. 61), stroll along the Seward Waterfront Park , explore historic downtown, hunt for murals painted by local artists, enjoy a hike at Exit Glacier, watch the salmon run, or even take a few casts from shore. Many of our tour operators offer half-day trips, like ice hiking, kayaking, and wildlife cruises.

If you have a weekend to explore, a full-day marine wildlife tour will take you deep into Kenai Fjords National Park (p. 61) where you’ll see tidewater glaciers and search for wildlife. In town, refuel at your favorite coffee house or over delicious Alaska fare from local chefs before catching live music at our downtown bars.

With a week to spend in Seward, you’ll start to feel like a local. Book a multi-day kayak excursion and fall asleep to the sounds of glaciers calving. Charter a multi-day cruise and explore secret coves. Access parts of the fjords that few get to see while staying at a remote wilderness lodge. Back in Seward, you’ll have time to explore more trails, try more restaurants, and meet more locals before packing your bags and memories to return home.
