ABOUT OUR Y OPEN THE DOOR TO EXCITEMENT

The Y will always be dedicated to building healthy, confident, and connected children, adults, families, and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, a mentor inspires a child and a community comes together to make a difference.

A YMCA family membership opens the door to exciting programs designed to strengthen spirit, mind, and body. Your family will enjoy the benefits of a YMCA membership through participation in a variety of fun and healthy activities. From aquatics to winter camp, wellness programs to family programs and older adult events to teen outings, the Y has something for everyone.

BENEFITS OF A Y MEMBERSHIP • Improve health and vitality while discovering a sense of well-being that goes beyond fitness. • Create healthy habits through our educational and nutrition programs. • Strengthen family bonds by participating in fun activities together such as Family Swim and Family Tang Soo Do. • Make friends and share a fun time with others among our 11,000 members. • Find personal balance and decrease stress by engaging in our Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates classes. • Build community connections through our social activities, clubs, and volunteer opportunities.

A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN The Y keeps pace with your child’s inquisitive and fun-loving spirit with programs like: • Art Class • Camp • Family Events • Gymnastics • Sports • Swim Lessons • Swim Team

CHILD WATCH WHILE YOU WORK OUT

BUDDY UP FOR FITNESS

Parents and guardians can use our Child Watch service for up to three hours while they are participating in a Y class, activity or while working out in the facility. Child Watch is free as a Sewickley Valley YMCA member benefit, and $3 per child for all non-members.

When you refer a friend who joins, your next month’s membership will be free, and your friend will receive their sixth-month membership free. New members must not have been a member within the past 90 days and must have registered for Buddy Up for Fitness in person or online at http://bit.ly/BuddyUpforFitness when activating their membership. For more information contact the membership department at 412-741-9622 ext. 105 or stop by the membership desk.

FAMILIES CONNECT WITH THE COMMUNITY Get together with friends, family, and neighbors. Play games, access the internet or kick back and relax. It all starts here, where you belong.

YOUR SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY The safety of our members and guests who use the facility has always been a top priority at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. All adult members and guests will be screened against the national sex offender database and individuals included on the list will be denied access to the Y. Also, members and guests who are 14 and older will be required to have a photo in our membership database or present photo ID at each visit. Photos are required for Nationwide Membership and to allow our staff to accurately screen for registered sex offenders.

Services shall be provided without regard to race, religious creed, color, disability, ancestry, national origin, age or sex. Services shall be made accessible to individuals with disabilities through the most practical and economically feasible methods available. The Sewickley Valley YMCA will make every effort to accommodate Non-English speaking individuals.

Caring: The Y is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for every member and guest. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when participating in Y programs at the Y or at off-site locations.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION The Y reserves the right to cancel a program that does not have the minimum enrollment.

Honesty: To carry out the Y mission, we ask that members and guests identify themselves to staff when asked, and be able to produce a Y membership card or identification upon request.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY Refunds will be issued if notice is given at least five business days before the start date of the program. All refund requests must be made directly through the director of the program. Refunds will be completed in the manner by which the payment was made.

Respect: We expect persons using the Y to behave in a mature and responsible way and to respect the rights and dignity of others. We do not permit language or any action that may hurt or frighten another person, including staff.

PRORATED CLASSES Class fees will not be prorated for late registrations. Late registrations are accepted in most programs (late registration for swim lessons is not recommended) but will require payment of the full class fee.

Responsibility: Members and guests are encouraged to be responsible for their comfort and safety. Please report any offending condition or behavior to a Y staff person.

Family membership is defined as two adults and their dependent children under age 18 who live in the same household, and children under the age of 26, residing at home or in college with proper ID.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE EVERYONE IS WELCOME

The YMCA Financial Assistance program is another way the Y fulfills our mission to serve all people. At the Y, no one is turned away for an inability to pay. The Y provides financial assistance to youth, families, and individuals who do not have the resources to pay the full membership or program fee. Support is provided for qualifying participants. Questions regarding financial assistance should be directed to Barb Herman, Membership Manager at 412-741-9622 ext. 131.

College membership is defined as a full-time student up to age 26. Students are to present record of current semester credits along with student ID as verification of full time status. Proper forms of identification may include a license, passport, military, student or state identification card.

YOU CAN HELP We are here for those who need us most. Over the last century, our programs and services have evolved, but our dedication to serving the changing needs of the community has always remained at the core of our mission. Financial assistance, supported by the Annual Campaign, offers programs and services of the Y to those in need. In 2017, the Sewickley Valley YMCA awarded $448,344 to individual and families in need. Your generous support for our Annual Campaign allows us to continue to meet the growing needs of the community. Working families received affordable state-licensed child care so they could work. Kids attended a summer camp where they grew in confidence, learned to swim, and made memories.

CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FEE

The Y believes that members are co-owners of this organization. As a co-owner, each member is asked to pay a one-time joining fee as a mission investment. These dollars are primarily used for non-expansion capital improvements like new equipment, building repairs and preventive maintenance. The fee may be paid in full at the time of joining or divided equally over a three-month period. Previous members who re-join within a three-year time frame will pay a rejoining fee of $100 for family and single-parent family, and $75 for adult and senior memberships. Members rejoining beyond the three-year time frame will be required to pay the full Capital Development Fee.

Help support the community with a tax-deductible donation or designate the Sewickley Valley YMCA as your charity of choice United Way #286 to help those in need! For more information about donating to the YMCA, contact Amy Richardson at 412-741-9622 ext. 108.
