2010 ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER TRIO CHOSEN TO LEAD TERRIERS IN 2010... The St. Francis College men’s soccer program, which finished the 2009 season with a semifinals appearance in the Northeast Conference Tournament, has announced that seniors Greg Baum, Nick Baum and junior Robbie Weir have been named team captains for the 2010 season, head coach Tom Giova o announced. “The Baum’s and Weir have been crucial to our development as a program,” said Giova o. “They have been through the tough times and have experienced the rewards of the team’s hard-work. These three are prime examples of what it means to be a student-athlete. They are hard-working, filled with determina on and are dedicated to the program.” Not known for his scoring ability, Greg Baum had a break-out season for the Terriers. He was fourth on the team in goals scored with three goals as he appeared in 17 games. His twin brother, Nick, enjoyed a solid season as well last season. Nick tallied two goals also in 17 games played and can be used in the backfield as a defender or as a forward to expand coach Giova o’s offense. Weir showed no signs of a “sophomore” jinx last season, as he improved his totals from his freshman year. The na ve of Prestwick, Scotland scored two goals and recorded two assists last season, while his ability to drive the ball deep into the opponent’s zone will be crucial for St. Francis as the Terriers vie for a Northeast Conference crown this season.
