TERRIER TIDBITS GAMETIME It’s Go Time: The St. Francis College women’s basketball opens up the 2010-11 regular season against a familiar opponent in the Manha an College Lady Jaspers from the Pope Physical Educa on Center on the campus of St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, New York at 7:00 pm. These two teams have opened the season the past three years, with Manha an coming away with the victory each year. Head-to-Head Matchup: Manha an leads the overall head-tohead series against the Terriers by a 12-1 margin, including last season’s 71-34 route at Draddy Gymnasium. Autumn Lau of the Terriers, playing in her very first game, recorded a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of ac on. Three Jaspers finished in double figures led by Michelle Pacheco’s game-high of 19 points. New York State of Mind: Head Coach Brenda Milano, who is entering her eighth season at the helm of the Terriers, has scheduled her squad against nine in-state opponents, which include the 18th Annual “Ba le of Brooklyn” against Northeast Conference rival, Long Island University (2/12/11 & 2/14/11). Among the slated New York teams are Manha an (11/12/10); UAlbany (11/16/10); Army (11/27/10); Colgate (12/5/10); Stony Brook (12/31/10); Wagner (1/17/11 & 2/21/11); Columbia (1/19/11). High Five: Coach Brenda Milano and her staff was busy this past summer in looking to bolster new talent to the fold this upcoming season. In the frontcourt, St. Francis welcomes three tall and athle c post players in Ashley Wilcots, Kiley Grabbe and Emily Siegart.

She helped lead Medgar Evers to the 2009-10 PSAL A Division Championship a er scoring 13 points and dishing out four assists in a 54-32 win over Wings Academy (3/20/10). Marginean comes to Brooklyn Heights from Brasov, Romania, where she has played amongst top talent on the European circuit. During the 2007-08 season, she led her team to the U-20 Na onal Championship and the season before, she helped lead BC Galac ca Brasov to the ICIM Arad Na onal Vice Championship and a 3rd place finish in the European Championship in the B Division. Her best performance overseas was when she scored 18 points, four rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Terrier Sports Network’s Jaden Daly (voice of the women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, and men’s water Wilcots, a 6-1 forward, sat out the 2009-10 season a er polo) provides his thoughts and insights about all St. Francis College transferring from nearby Hofstra University. The na ve of Virginia Athle cs, through his involvement with Terrier Sports Network. Beach, Virginia, will provide an interior presence with her ability to rebound and block shots as well as scoring from the low post.... Grabbe is a 6’2 forward/center from Clearview Regional High School in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, where she averaged 11.9 points TERRIER TEAM RANKINGS IN THE NORTHEAST CONFERENCE (at the conclusion of 2009-10 season) per game as well as pulling down 9.0 rebounds and swa ng four shots a contest as a member of the Pioneers...Siegart stands at 6’1 and hails from Winnacunnet, New Hampshire. She can play the four or five posi on and tallied nearly twelve points per contest while pulling down ten rebounds. In the backcourt, Milano added two dynamic guards to help set the tempo for the Terriers’ offense this season, Jasmin Robinson and Ozana Marginean. Robinson, a na ve of Brooklyn, New York, played her high school ball at Medgar Evers Prepartory School for head coach Barney Davis. A speed demon of a floor leader and sparkplug, she averaged 15.0 ppg in her four years as a member of the Rams while pulling down 3.3 boards and dishing out 5.5 assists. Her best game for the Rams was during last season’s playoff run as she scored 31 points, dished out five assists and pulled down five rebounds against Evanders Child.

In recogni on of her accolades at Wagner, Director of Athle cs Walt Hameline announced that Milano (Class of 1995) enters the school’s Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility. Milano was a four-year stalwart on the women’s basketball teams of the early 1990s. She averaged 12.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 4.5 apg for her career and was named to the NEC Second Team as a sophomore and to the All-Newcomer team as a freshman before being beset by injuries. Milano

Brenda Milano enters her eighth season as head coach of scored 1,046 points despite playing just 84 career games the St. Francis College women’s basketball program. In her and graduated as the 12th-highest scorer in school history first season, she led the 2003-2004 Terriers to an eight win (currently 21st). She also ranks among the program leaders season. The next season, the wins steadily increased to ten, in assists (382) (6th) and steals (148) (8th). Milano was also while guiding St. Francis to the 2005 Northeast Conference a two-year captain and Team MVP. Quarterfinals. It was the Terriers first appearance since 1999.

Milano has high expecta ons for her team in 2010-2011. This year’s team is looking to forget last season’s record

Milano’s coaching style helped transform a new atmosphere and open with a fresh new outlook and demeanor. With in Brooklyn Heights as the 2006-07 season proved to be a the addi on of several exci ng newcomers along with the year to remember. Milano’s bunch recorded a 13-18 overall record, her most successful season to date. St. Francis would enter the Northeast Conference Tournament as the eight seed, taking on the Long Island University Blackbirds, the tournaments top seed. The Terriers would pull out the upset, as it was the first me that the school has qualified for the semi-finals as well as being the only # 8 seed to upset the # 1 seed in Northeast Conference Tournament history. Despite having three starters on the injured list, the 200708 Terriers were resilient and made it back to Northeast Conference tournament. In 2009-10, Milano was able to achieve personal milestones in her coaching career. The Terriers ended a three-year drought in the Ba le of Brooklyn as they defeated Long Island University, giving Milano her 35th Northeast Conference victory. A month later, with a last second free-throw, St. Francis would stun 2008 Northeast Conference Champions, Robert Morris, giving Coach Milano her 50th career victory, the most wins by a St. Francis College women’s head coach. Milano gained her early coaching experience at Northeastern University as a graduate assistant and at Seton Hall University where she earned a master’s degree in sports management. A endance: 105 Brooklyn Heigths, New York---Junior guard Jacinda Williams led St. Francis with 15 points but the Central Connec cut State Blue Devils escaped Brooklyn Heights with a 64-59 victory. The Terriers finish the regular season with an overall record of 2-27 and 1-17 in the Northeast Conference while the Blue Devils clinch the sixth seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament with a league mark of 8-10 and 11-17 overall. The Blue Devils jumped out to a fast start as they scored the contests first nine points en route to a 12-2 margin at the 16 minute mark. Alexzandria Dowdy connected on a pair of three-pointers while PJ Wade was able to score in transi on on consecu ve fast break opportuni es to help give CCSU a double-digit lead. Freshman Autumn Lau chipped in 14 points on 5-of-10 shoo ng from the field and senior Melissa Weithman, playing in her final game for the Terriers, scored a career-high ten points while pulling down four rebounds in 37 minutes of ac on. Udenze led the Blue Devils with 18 points, while three others finished in double figures. Kerrianne Dugan tallied 16 points, five rebounds and three assists while Leanne Crocke recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
