TONIGHT’S GAME The St. Francis College women’s basketball team host the University at Albany Great Danes from the Pope Physical Educa on Center. THE TERRIERS A er one game in the books, the Terriers are led by sophomore forward Autumn Lau, who scored 14 points and pulled in five rebounds against the Manhattan Jaspers. Lau is one of three Terriers to pull down five or more rebounds in the home opener (Senior guard Tiara Dunson and sophomore Kim Snauwaert) THE GREAT DANES The Albany Great Danes come into Brooklyn looking to con nue their momentum as they beat Brown University. Sophomore forward Ebone Henry recorded a double-double, scoring a gamehigh 23 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in the ten point victory. Three Great Danes finished the contest scoring in double figures while Julie Forster pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. SERIES HISTORY This will be the sixth me these two schools have met with the Great Danes holding a 3-2 advantage. Last season, Albany defeated the Terriers 70-49 on November 23, 2009 at the SEFCU Arena in Albany, New York. FRESH FACES All four members of St. Francis’ freshman class bring impressive credentials to Brooklyn Heights. Jasmin Robinson earned Daily News First Team and All-City Honorable Mention accolades. Ozana Marginean led her team to the U-20 Na onal Championship. Kiley Grabbe averaged 12.0 ppg and 9.0 rebounds while at Clearview Regional High School. NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TURNS 30 This season marks the 30th anniversary of the Northeast Conference. St. Francis (NY) is one of five founding members, to be part of the NEC since the beginning. Along with St. Francis (NY), fellow charter members Fairleigh Dickinson, Long Island, Robert Morris, Saint Francis (PA) and Wagner make up six of the league’s tweleve teams. PRESEASON POLL St. Francis (NY) was picked to finish 12th in the conference’s annual preseason coaches’ poll. Long Island University was LIU garnered six first-place votes in the annual survey of the league’s 12 head coaches One of four teams to receive first-place votes, Robert Morris pulled in three top nods to claim second in the poll. Despite the lack of a first-place vote, Sacred Heart accrued enough points to take third ahead of defending NEC Tournament champion Saint Francis (PA) and its pair of No. 1 nods. Monmouth received the lone remaining top vote to finish fi h.

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND Head Coach Brenda Milano, who is entering her eighth season at the helm of the Terriers, has scheduled her squad against nine in-state opponents. THREE’S COMPANY Last season, Mt. Wolf Pennsylvania native Autumn Lau connected on 79 three pointers, good for first in the Northeast Conference. This season, she has connected on four three pointers against Manha an. If she con nues to average four a game, Lau will finish the season with 112 three’s, the most in St. Francis College women’s basketball history. Tiffany Hill ‘08 holds the record at 85, set during the 2007-08 season.

St. Francis College was founded in 1859 as St. Francis Academy by a group of newly arrived Franciscan Brothers from Ireland. The Brother’s mission was to educate young men from working-class families in the Brooklyn Diocese. St. Francis Academy provided a sound education with a rigorous curriculum and personal support, all for a modest tui on, characteris cs that endure today. In 1884, St. Francis College received its Charter from New York State establishing a literary college which could award diplomas, honors, and degrees. In 1926, St. Francis College built a larger campus near its original site in Cobble Hill, where it remained un l the 1960s when the College relocated to its current site on Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights. The new loca on and opening the College’s doors up to women for the first me led to an influx of students from all five boroughs of New York City and beyond, doubling the student popula on. The cornerstone of the St. Francis College experience is academics. All students complete a core curriculum that offers a founda on for intellectual and professional growth; once completed, they choose from one of 74 majors, many in the liberal arts and others geared to specific professions, included a five year combined Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting. An honors program serves students of high achievement and a broad scholarship program supports those who are likely to perform well academically. An NCAA-Division I ins tu on, St. Francis College offers students the opportunity to play for any of 19 varsity men’s and women’s athletic teams, including its men’s basketball team, whose program is among the oldest in New York City. LAST THREE CONTESTS--RECAP Game 1: Manha an 63, St. Francis (NY) 34: On Opening Night, the St. Francis College women’s basketball team fell 63-34 against the Manhattan College Jaspers on Friday evening from the Pope Physical Educa on Center. Both teams were ineffec ve in the opening minutes of the contest. St. Francis (0-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead a er sophomore forward Autumn Lau connected on the Terriers’ first two buckets of the contest. The Manha an Jaspers (1-0) regained their composure by ra ling off eight straight points to take a three point lead at 8-5 six minutes into the contest. The Jaspers con nued to apply the pressure going on an 8-0 run to increase their total to 19-12 and finished the stanza holding St. Francis without a field goal for the remainder of the period, heading to the locker rooms at 23-12. Monica Roeder of Manha an and St. Francis’ Autumn Lau each had eleven points in the period, with the Jaspers ge ng produc on off the bench from Lindsey Loutsenhizer, who contributed eight points in eighteen minutes of ac on. The Terriers out-muscled the Jaspers on the boards in the stanza, 20-17. In recogni on of her accolades at Wagner, Director of Athle cs Walt Hameline announced that Milano (Class of 1995) enters the school’s Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility. Milano was a four-year stalwart on the women’s basketball teams of the early 1990s. She averaged 12.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 4.5 apg for her career and was named to the NEC Second Team as a sophomore and to the All-Newcomer team as a freshman before being beset by injuries. Milano

Brenda Milano enters her eighth season as head coach of scored 1,046 points despite playing just 84 career games the St. Francis College women’s basketball program. In her and graduated as the 12th-highest scorer in school history first season, she led the 2003-2004 Terriers to an eight win (currently 21st). She also ranks among the program leaders season. The next season, the wins steadily increased to ten, in assists (382) (6th) and steals (148) (8th). Milano was also while guiding St. Francis to the 2005 Northeast Conference a two-year captain and Team MVP. Quarterfinals. It was the Terriers first appearance since 1999.

Milano has high expecta ons for her team in 2010-2011. This year’s team is looking to forget last season’s record

Milano’s coaching style helped transform a new atmosphere and open with a fresh new outlook and demeanor. With in Brooklyn Heights as the 2006-07 season proved to be a the addi on of several exci ng newcomers along with the year to remember. Milano’s bunch recorded a 13-18 overall record, her most successful season to date. St. Francis would enter the Northeast Conference Tournament as the eight seed, taking on the Long Island University Blackbirds, the tournaments top seed. The Terriers would pull out the upset, as it was the first me that the school has qualified for the semi-finals as well as being the only # 8 seed to upset the # 1 seed in Northeast Conference Tournament history. Despite having three starters on the injured list, the 200708 Terriers were resilient and made it back to Northeast Conference tournament. In 2009-10, Milano was able to achieve personal milestones in her coaching career. The Terriers ended a three-year drought in the Ba le of Brooklyn as they defeated Long Island University, giving Milano her 35th Northeast Conference victory. A month later, with a last second free-throw, St. Francis would stun 2008 Northeast Conference Champions, Robert Morris, giving Coach Milano her 50th career victory, the most wins by a St. Francis College women’s head coach. Milano gained her early coaching experience at Northeastern University as a graduate assistant and at Seton Hall University where she earned a master’s degree in sports management. Before coaching, Milano spent me at Integrated Sports Interna onal, sports marke ng firm where she put to work her B.S. in marke ng from Wagner College (1995). In 1998,
