IT’S GAMETIME The St. Francis College Terriers open up the new year against the defending Northeast Conference champions, the St. Francis University (PA) Red Flash from the Pope Physical Educa on Center. THE TERRIERS With thirty-four seconds remaining in regula on and St. Francis down 54-52, sophomore guard Amber Lau fired up a three-pointer from the le wing that sent the Terrier faithful home happy as the hosts defeated Stony Brook University, 57-54 on New Year’s Eve. Freshman guard Jasmin Robinson, who finished the contest with a career and game-high 21 points, was able to swipe the ball from Stony Brook’s Gerda Gatling and hit her layup opportunity, cu ng the lead to two, 54-52 to set-up Lau’s dramatic game-winner. THE RED FLASH Three Saint Francis (PA) players scored in double figures but a second half run by no. 24 Syracuse proved to be too much as the Red Flash fell to the Orange, 94-60, at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday a ernoon. Samantha Leach paced SFU with 17 points and Bri any Lilley and Allison Daly were close behind with 14 and 13, respec vely, as the vaunted Syracuse defense allowed its fourth-highest output of the season. SERIES HISTORY Today marks the 49th these two ins u ons have matchuped up. The Red Flash lead the head-to-head series 35-13 and hold a four game winning streak against the Terriers. St. Francis (NY) last victories against their PA counterparts was back in the 2007-08 season. ST. FRANCIS (NY) vs. THE NORTHEAST CONFERENCE St. Francis (NY) is a combined 90-331 in Northeast Conference play. Head Coach Brenda, in her eighth season at the helm, is 5-9 against the Red Flash. Back on January 28th, Milano picked up her 30th career Northeast Conference victory against the Red Flash. ALL THE JAZZ Freshman guard Jasmin Robinson had a career afternoon against the Stony Brook Seawolves on New Year’s Eve. The Brooklyn native, starting in just her second career game, recorded a career and game-high 21 points on 6-of-10 shoo ng. In addi on, the former Medgar Evers star shot 90% from the free-throw line (9-of-10) in 34 minutes of action. COUNTDOWN TO 1,000 FOR AUTUMN LAU Sophomore forward Autumn Lau is next in line to eclipse the 1,000 career point plateau. Currently, the na ve of Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania has amassed 494 points in 1 1/2 years in Brooklyn Heights. Lau, who needs 506 points to reach 1,000, will need to average a minimum of 9.0 points over the next 56 games. THIEVES IN THE NIGHT Against Stony Brook on New Year’s Eve, the Terriers, as whole, recorded their highest total of steals for a game this season. They swiped 14 with sophomore forward Kim Snauwaert and freshman guard Jasmin Robinson each recording four steals in the three-point victory.

St. Francis (NY) has knocked off the defending Northeast Conference champion in back-to-back season, each by one point with last season’s 64-63 win against Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connec cut. Previously, the Terriers knocked off 2008 champion Robert Morris, 61-60, on two late free-throws to secure the victory. OH-KAY TO PLAY Senior guard Kayla Williams is the only member of this year’s team to play and start in each of the team’s first eleven contest. EARNING YOUR STRIPES FROM THE LINE Nine of the thirteen players on this year’s squad are shoo ng over .500 from the free throw line this season, with senior guard Kayla Williams leading the way shoo ng 83% on 20-of-24 a empts so far this season. FIVE POINTS OR LESS, NO PROBLEM This season, St. Francis is 2-0 in games decided by five points or less. SETTING THE PACE: ALL IN A YEAR’S WORTH The Terriers played their best game of the season agains the Stony Brook Seawolves on New Year’s Eve. The 57 points that St. Francis scored were the second highest total for the season. In addi on, the Terriers were able to convert on 18 field goals on 44 a empts to shot 40% for the game, good for second highest total this season. The Terriers have been aggressive getting to the free-throw line and has payed off as they hit 19 of 25 from the line (76%) which is a season high. On the defenseive side, the 14 steals against Stony Brook is their highest total for a game this season.

St. Francis College was founded in 1859 as St. Francis Academy by a group of newly arrived Franciscan Brothers from Ireland. The Brother’s mission was to educate young men from working-class families in the Brooklyn Diocese. St. Francis Academy provided a sound education with a rigorous curriculum and personal support, all for a modest tui on, characteris cs that endure today. In 1884, St. Francis College received its Charter from New York State establishing a literary college which could award diplomas, honors, and degrees. In 1926, St. Francis College built a larger campus near its original site in Cobble Hill, where it remained un l the 1960s when the College relocated to its current site on Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights. The new loca on and opening the College’s doors up to women for the first me led to an influx of students from all five boroughs of New York City and beyond, doubling the student popula on. The cornerstone of the St. Francis College experience is academics. All students complete a core curriculum that offers a founda on for intellectual and professional growth; once completed, they choose from one of 74 majors, many in the liberal arts and others geared to specific professions, included a five year combined Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting. An honors program serves students of high achievement and a broad scholarship program supports those who are likely to perform well academically. An NCAA-Division I ins tu on, St. Francis College offers students the opportunity to play for any of 19 varsity men’s and women’s athletic teams, including its men’s basketball team, whose program is among the oldest in New York City. WHEN THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY Against the Fairfield University Stags (12/19/10), junior forward Ashley Wilcots (Virginia Beach, VA/Hofstra University/Landstown HS) recorded a new career high with 11 points, eight of which came in her first ten minutes on the court in the first half of play. OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN This season, senior guards Tiara Dunson and Kayla Williams were chosen in a team vote to be the 2010-11 co-captains. 1,000 GAMES PLAYED The St. Francis College women’s basketball program played their 1,000 game against the University at Albany Great Danes on November 16th, 2010. The Terriers are a combined 311-690 (.310 winning percentage) This is the 37th year of women’s basketball, da ng back to the 1973-74 season in which the Terriers finished 9-5. SIZING UP THE TERRIERS This season’s roster has an average height of 5-8 1/2. FIve Terriers stand 6-0 or taller, including 6-7 center Bara Galandakova, the tallest player on the squad. The shortest members of the team is 5-4 guard Jasmin Robinson. EASTERN SEABOARD Of the 13 players on the roster, eight are originally from the East coast. In fact, four members of the squad call either New York (two) or New Jersey (two) home. Two Terries are from Pennsylvania, one from Virginia. Two Terriers are from the West (Tiara Dunson, California; Kayla Williams, Texas) while three members are from overseas. NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TURNS 30 This season marks the 30th anniversary of the Northeast Conference. St. Francis (NY) is one of five founding members, to be part of the NEC since the beginning. In recogni on of her accolades at Wagner, Director of Athle cs Walt Hameline announced that Milano (Class of 1995) enters the school’s Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility. Milano was a four-year stalwart on the women’s basketball teams of the early 1990s. She averaged 12.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 4.5 apg for her career and was named to the NEC Second Team as a sophomore and to the All-Newcomer team as a freshman before being beset by injuries. Milano
Brenda Milano enters her eighth season as head coach of scored 1,046 points despite playing just 84 career games the St. Francis College women’s basketball program. In her and graduated as the 12th-highest scorer in school history first season, she led the 2003-2004 Terriers to an eight win (currently 21st). She also ranks among the program leaders season. Milano’s coaching style helped transform a new atmosphere and open with a fresh new outlook and demeanor. Milano’s bunch recorded a 13-18 overall majority of last year’s squad coming back, Coach Milano record, her most successful season to date. St. Francis would and her staff believe that they can vie for a Northeast enter the Northeast Conference Tournament as the eight Conference championship. seed, taking on the Long Island University Blackbirds, the tournaments top seed. The Terriers would pull out the upset, as it was the first me that the school has qualified for the semi-finals as well as being the only # 8 seed to upset the # 1 seed in Northeast Conference Tournament history. Despite having three starters on the injured list, the 200708 Terriers were resilient and made it back to Northeast Conference tournament. In 2009-10, Milano was able to achieve personal milestones in her coaching career. The Terriers ended a three-year drought in the Ba le of Brooklyn as they defeated Long Island University, giving Milano her 35th Northeast Conference victory. A month later, with a last second free-throw, St. Francis would stun 2008 Northeast Conference Champions, Robert Morris, giving Coach Milano her 50th career victory, the most wins by a St. Francis College women’s head coach. Milano gained her early coaching experience at Northeastern University as a graduate assistant and at Seton Hall University where she earned a master’s degree in sports management. Before coaching, Milano spent me at Integrated Sports Interna onal, sports marke ng firm where she put to work her B.S. in marke ng from Wagner College (1995). In 1998,
