They’re here. They’re queer. And they want to see you off the couch and into a better and healthier lifestyle.
The Front Runners & Walkers of Fort Lauderdale is bringing back its Couch to 5K program starting 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Holiday Park.
The program is free and open to the community. But what’s the catch? Nothing.
During his time in porn, Ferris went on a downward, drug-induced spiral. His drug of choice was meth.
“I lived a lot of my life using for days, sleeping for days, and then living in a state of crisis as I tried to pick up life from where I left off,” Ferris told SFGN. “Life events happened pretty fast and I didn’t have the time or the mental bandwidth to fully process moments and emotions.”
Tickets to the event range from $19-89. Register at eventbrite.com.
The group just wants you to come run or walk with them for nine weeks of training. They’re even offering to cover the cost of your first 5K if you complete the program. At this point that is set to be the Rainbow 5K April 30, benefitting The Pride Center
FRWFL was SFGN’s Best Sports Team and Best Sports League for 2022.
President of FRWFL, Eric Runyan, wants to spread the word of his organization and their Couch to 5K program.
“We like to have the ‘& walkers’ in our name because we welcome people of all abilities. We have many former runners who are now walkers. Pretty much anyone who sticks with a program is going to join the club especially given that it’s so affordable [$30 annually for adults and $15 for students] and offers so many other benefits,” Runyan said. “Our membership comes with a free shirt, race discounts, and we even have a race grant program to pay half for our members’ race registration fees for selected club races.” You lose nothing except time and sweat.
