The CTP-4 (commonly referred to as the ERB because this is the tes ng company that publishes the test) is a standardized test. Its purpose is to test what a student knows at a given point in me.

The CTP-4 comprises a ba ery of tests in reading, language usage, and mathema cs and includes a series of mul ple-choice and open-ended ques ons that measure mastery of skills and knowledge.

Standardized Assessment Tasks (SATs) and SOSCA

B R I T I S H S C H O O L

In the Bri sh School, a number of assessments are used to benchmark the students’ progress and reported on the Students’ Progress Reports during the year. There are no ‘passes’ or ‘fails’ in these assessments—they provide a ‘snapshot’ of each of our students at that point in their educa on. During Key Stages 1 -3 (Y1-Y9), progress in Na onal Curriculum subjects is assessed against seven levels.

At the end of Key Stage 1 (Y2), the level will be based on the teacher's assessment in Maths and English, taking into account the child’s performance in several tasks and tests. The UK average is Level 2; the majority of SFBS students are expected to achieve Level 2a (Level 2 is divided into 2c, 2b and 2a).

Standardized Assessment Tasks (SATs) and SOSCA At the end of Key Stage 2 (Y6), the level will reflect the child’s na onal test results in Maths and English. UK average is Level 4; the majority of SFBS students are expected to achieve level 5

B R I T I S H S C H O O L

At the end of Key Stage 3 (Y9), the level will be based on the teacher's assessment and the student’s SOSCA (an on-line version of SATs) test results. The UK average is Level 6; the majority of our children are expected to achieve level 7 in Science, Maths and English (Bands B and A).
