ADVENTURES IN MUSIC Grades 1-5
I’m so glad that my underrepresented students can participate in such a big part of SF arts & culture, both at Davies Symphony Hall and at all the concerts that come to us. I feel so lucky to be able to share this with my students! (Teacher)

The in-school concerts were for many students the first time they experienced a live concert. The diversity of the musicians reflected our own community. They could see that race is not a barrier to achievement. (Teacher)

AIM gives students an opportunity to learn about music in depth. And it gives teachers hands-on tools to spark children’s interest. AIM serves the cultural diversity of our school. Music speaks to every child from every culture and brings the school community together. (Principal)
My students are full of life, and respond well to music. AIM is a great companion to dwindling music programs in public schools. (Teacher)

I’m a parent of two students at Monroe Elementary School. My daughters rave about all your visits to our school, and it has inspired them to sign up for the SFUSD lessons for flute and violin. (Parent)

I thought I would tell you how your music program has influenced my life. When I was in the first grade at Harvey Milk, I went to my first AIM concert. I had no idea I wanted to play an instrument but I loved the music and the concerts. When I entered the fourth grade, I was given the chance to play an instrument. If it weren’t for the AIM concerts, I most likely would have never have had the opportunity to play clarinet. As I start my senior year next year, I’m now applying to colleges. I know one day I want to become a high school band director. (Former AIM student)
