By enlightening the public about all that goes into the creation of glass art and by demystifying some of the techniques and processes involved, everyone will have a better understanding and appreciation of the magic that is glass! “Transcendence — the Magic of Glass,” a month-long juried international exhibition of contemporary glass art, will be held at the MAC Exhibit Center. Other downtown events include Glass Alley, a Saturday market featuring glass art and glass supplies, demonstrations by artists showing different aspects of glass arts, and displays of glass art in downtown stores and windows. Workshops, held throughout the month in artists’ studios will provide opportunities to learn glass techniques in fusing, stained glass, kilnforming, glass blowing, mosaics and more.

In November 1885, at the end of the SerboBulgarian war, a fleeing enemy soldier stumbles into the bedroom of a young woman. She rescues him from the pursuing army, but as a result is forced to re-examine her idealistic views of love and war. In this play Shaw wrote a satire on love, war and the professional fighting man; the typical Shavian touches throughout are very good fun; but of course there are serious points to be made, too, and Shaw makes them in his inimitably brilliant manner. Tickets are $15 and are available online at www. OlympicTheatreArts.org, or by calling the box office at 360-683-7326.
