HONG BAO SPARKLING WINE KNOWLEDGE DINNER

On 21 February, we enjoyed a Hong Bao Sparkling Wine Knowledge Dinner at the Padang Restaurant. It was the first inperson event for the Wine Circle in a while, and included a threecourse dinner, along with tastings of six sparkling wines, two of which were Champagnes. Featuring commentary from top wine expert Jackie Ang, the event provided a good chance for attendees to learn more about everything from the production process to what’s popular in Singapore.

WINE CIRCLE AGM

The Circle’s Annual General Meeting in the Gilmour Room offered a chance to thank the Committee from the past year. A new Committee was elected, with Naveen Gupta remaining as Convener and Tushar Doshi moving over to become Treasurer. James Blythman was voted in as Events Coordinator, and Shane Dewar named Secretary. Rags Raghavan and Joanna Ossinger were voted in as Committee Members. In addition, Amit Kumar Sharma and Maria Ji Hyun Lee joined the Committee.

MARCH RIESLING WINE PROMOTION

A Riesling wine promotion was held in March, keyed around International Riesling Day in the middle of the month. Groups of five Wine Circle members could gather and be provided with two bottles of wine featuring the varietal, one dry and one sweet. A good time was had by all, and Wine Circle members continue to make connections in our small-group tables as we learn about the various tipples on offer. Plans for the coming year include more wine dinners, other educational activities and possibly even a short tour!
