The Virtual Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Singapore Cricket Club was conducted on 24 September 2022 virtually in the Club, due to COVID-19 safe management restrictions. Chairman Zoher Saleh Motiwalla called the meeting to order at 11am and voting was opened shortly after – this year, Members voted electronically while a small number of Members visited the Club to receive assistance with online registration and voting, while still adhering to safe distancing measures. SGM was adjourned in the afternoon at 12.30pm. It resumed at 6.45pm in the evening and ended in the evening at 7.21pm when Chairman closed the meeting.

NOTICE OF RESOLUTION TENDERED PURSUANT TO RULE 59 OF THE RULES OF THE SINGAPORE CRICKET CLUB

RESOLUTION ONE THAT the SGM resolves that the Committee is hereby empowered to incur the following expenditure should the Club renew the lease of the Dempsey Field from Singapore Land Authority for a term of three (03) years with option to extend the renewal for a further three (03) years:

(a) Rental expenditure of $204,000/- per annum for each of the three (03) years commencing from 01 January 2023; and

(b) Such professional fees as may be charged by the British and Malayan Trustees Limited, who will hold the lease of the Dempsey Field in trust for the Club, should the

Club renew the lease of Dempsey Field.

The Resolution is declared carried by majority.

NOTICE OF RESOLUTION TENDERED PURSUANT TO RULE 59 OF THE RULES OF THE SINGAPORE CRICKET CLUB

RESOLUTION TWO THAT the current Rule 19 (i) be and is hereby amended in the manner set out in the annexure hereto titled “Resolution Two - Proposed Amendments to Rule 19(i)” or in such other manner as this SGM may approve in whole or in parts with or without amendments and the General Committee be empowered to compile the amended Rule as approved by this SGM for submission to the Registrar of Societies for sanction. The amendment is intended to remove the requirement of being an Ordinary (Transferable) Member for at least 10 years before being permitted to transfer the membership with a waiver of transfer fee if the transfer is to a parent, grandparent, child, or grandchild of over 21 years of age.

The Resolution is declared carried by majority.

Celebrated Staff’s birthdays in September

The SCC Staff Party 2022 returned in big fashion after three years. The hardworking staff that keeps SCC running all year long let their hair down in this Halloween themed party and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities and celebrations, commemorating their time and effort with lots of fun, games and prizes for everybody!
