Bringing gas to Strabane
SGN has supported the Northern Ireland gas industry since the first introduction of natural gas in 1996
Who are we? SGN Natural Gas is a new company formed as part of the SGN Group to bring natural gas to the west of Northern Ireland. We will own and operate the mains, services and meters delivering natural gas within Coalisland, Cookstown, Derrylin, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh and Strabane. We will be constructing approximately 200km of pipeline linking eight towns to the existing network: Coalisland, Cookstown, Derrylin, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh and Strabane. In addition, we will also be laying a further 500km of gas mains and services within all the towns to deliver gas to homes and businesses. Gas will first be available in Strabane in late 2016.
When will work take place? We will be constructing the new pipeline from Maydown to Strabane with a minimum of inconvenience and working with all those who may be affected. McNicholas has been appointed as the contractor and the work will commence on 2 November 2015, lasting for approximately 12 months.
Working hours Our planned working hours during the gas pipeline construction will be 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. These working hours may vary at times as the project progresses, depending on the exact stage of construction and available daylight hours. Occasional Sunday working may be required but this will be kept to a minimum.
