Reminder Dear Juniors and Seniors,
We have partnered with Career Services to give our junior and senior majors access to Wildcat Joblink. Wildcat JobLink is a state-of-the-art career management tool, offering UA students access to jobs, internships, and a range of other services including campus interviewing and resume referrals.
To access JobLink, please visit the Career Services website at https:// www.career.arizona.edu/joblink. All you need is your NETID and password to login and take advantage of these great services.
Why is SGPP only funding juniors and seniors to have access to JobLink? The funding comes from SGPP Program Fees, which only our junior and senior majors pay. If you are a freshman or sophomore, you are welcome to register and pay the annual $5 fee out of pocket. Visit https://www.career.arizona.edu/joblink to register.
I will be a junior at the end of the current semester. When can I have access? SGPP will be requesting access for any students who have reached 60+ credits each semester after the census date (the 21st day of the semester). So, if you will have 60+ completed credits at the end of this semester, you will be granted access next semester after the census date. If you have any questions, please email ahackett@email.arizona.edu .

SGPP Students Spotlight SGPP Students attend 2017 Inauguration
“Above all, being in D.C. is an experience we should all have. It’s important to see where our tax dollars really go, and to revel in the value of it all. The Smithsonian museums alone constitute an entire week’s visit to the city. Seeing your representatives, the Capitol buildings, and the Library of Congress would fill another. The endless history D.C. has to offer, coupled with the history being made in the city every day is absolutely breathtaking in its breadth and application in every American’s life. “ Kaitlin Hooker, Political Science “Every semester, I learn about various topics of politics in POL and SGPP classes. However, being able to actually be in the heart of the political world in such an intriguing and important moment in history was something different. I am more of a “hands-on” learner, and so being able to see and experience in person the events I learned so much about beforehand, and continue to learn about now, made it so much more interesting and meaningful. “ Kaitlynn Williams, Political Science
“All of our activities were designed to challenge us and have us think critically about the issues and why voters would be for or against them. Some of them introduced me to new perspectives; we heard from two African-American academics, Michael Eric Dyson and Greg Carr. Dyson and Carr gave two incredible talks back-to-back about race, identity, black history and politics. Their talks were made more tangible when our group had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture and immerse ourselves in an aspect of American history that is not taught with much depth in American education. “ Courtney Niegocki, Political Science SGPP Undergraduate Newsletter Page 8
SGPP Students Spotlight and The Washington Center Seminars
“During the seminar I was immersed in information on a variety of topics ranging from race relations in the U.S. to foreign affairs with Turkey and the Middle East. Each day I had the opportunity to listen to experts in the field tell me things I had never known or even considered. For example, our small group met with Dr. Aykan Erdemir a former member of the Turkish parliament and a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. Dr. Erdemir shared about the Turks mistrust of the United States and discussed why he thought it was critical that the U.S. begin courting Turkey again to keep the Turks from allying singularly with the undemocratic Russia. “ Michelle Jaquette, Political Science “The Arizona girls and I also had the chance to attend the Arizona State Society event, and that was a great opportunity to network with important people from Arizona. All in all the seminar was the experience of a lifetime and I am so happy I was selected to attend. I hope in the future students are inspired the way I was, and I hope this seminar continues to influence other students. “ Viviana Galindo, Law
“The highlight of the trip was the last three days: going to the Arizona State Society’s Inaugural celebration, the inauguration itself, and the women’s march the day after. At the celebration we got to see several of Arizona’s political leaders and see their staff which was a great networking experience. At the inauguration we saw the transition of power and at the march a demonstration of the right to peaceable protest. Being in D.C. for those weeks was truly being a part of history. “ Susan Jane Garza, Political Science SGPP Undergraduate Newsletter Page 9
