Allison Transmission Hosts Australia Ride & Drive for Key Industry Players

Customers and journalists will drive a wide range of vehicles on tarmac circuits, dirt access tracks and in an off-highway area, witnessing first-hand the difference an Allison makes in actual operating conditions as compared to other transmission technologies and manufacturers.

Allison Transmission will showcase automatic transmission advantages in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles for key transport industry operators, manufacturers and media in a week-long event on Australia’s Gold Coast. Gold Coast, AUSTRALIA – International representatives from transport operators in municipal, construction, emergency and energy sectors, as well as vehicle manufacturers and transport media will converge on Australia’s Gold Coast, April 15–21, to test the latest Allison automatic transmission technology in a range of commercial vehicles. Delegates will sample a variety of Allison-equipped vehicles, both behind the wheel and as passengers, highlighting the superior performance, safety and value of automatic transmissions. The event will be held at the Mt. Cotton Driver Training Centre south of Brisbane, a 283 hectare (700 acre) facility with more than 7.6 kilometres (5 miles) of undulating circuits and training roads.

The event will be held at the Mt. Cotton Driver Training Centre south of Brisbane, a 283 hectare (700 acre) facility with more than 7.6 kilometres (5 miles) of undulating circuits and training roads.

Customers and journalists will drive a wide range of vehicles on tarmac circuits, dirt access tracks and in an off-highway area, witnessing first-hand the difference an Allison makes in actual operating conditions as compared to other transmission technologies and manufacturers. Experiencing the superior performance and value of its line of automatic transmissions in person will help Allison’s guests understand why 38 OEMs now sell trucks, buses, coaches and specialty vehicles in Australia. With fully-automatic transmissions, gearshifts occur independent of driver influence, meaning both hands are on the steering wheel and full concentration can be devoted to manoeuvring. Shifts are smooth and don’t interrupt traction, allowing engine power to flow to the wheels whenever required. Additionally, the Allison torque converter multiplies engine torque at vehicle launch for superior startability and performance in off-road conditions. According to Lawrence Love, Executive Director of International Marketing at Allison Transmission, the Australia Ride & Drive will bring visitors from across Asia, India, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand to The Gold Coast for the opportunity to experience the automatic and discover the value of an Allison. – “Our guests will have the unique opportunity to drive a wide array of commercial vehicles produced by European, American, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Australian OEMs – all equipped with an Allison automatic transmission. We’ll demonstrate how our company has established a reputation for superior quality, reliability and durability. By participating in this Ride & Drive, those serious about increasing productivity, maximizing performance and improving profitability will be better equipped to make informed decisions about the right transmission technology for their demanding transport environments,” – said Lawrence Love.

The Australia Ride & Drive will bring visitors from across Asia, India, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand to The Gold Coast for an opportunity to experience the automatic and discover the value of an Allison.

TRASERSCREEN DB100 MOBILE SCREENER –

UNIQUELY MOBILE AND PRODUCTIVE VERBIS company’s ever growing machinery range has recently been extended with the inclusion of a uniquely effective and economical mobile screening solution and sorting equipment, the new DBENGINEERING product line. After a ten-year old “mission” in Ireland, the talented group of engineers returned to Slovakia to establish its own company specialized in the production and distribution of cutting-edge sorting equipment and mobile screening units which have been developed bearing in mind the experience gained in Ireland and have great market potential. Without attempting to be comprehensive, in this article, we will review the TRANSCREEN DB100 mobile screening unit. The most important qualities of the TRANSCREEN DB100: • most productive and economical screener in its class • from transport position brought back to a fully operational state within 4 minutes • before its launch on the market, proved its capabilities during an industrial test carried out under the toughest circumstances With a screening area of 3.3 m2 the 1820x1820 mm big screenbox provides an output of 100 t/hour (depending on the material). Due to its self-weight of maximum 2.5 tons, it can easily be towed by any sport utility vehicle or van. Thanks to engineering ingenuity, the machine is capable of returning to a fully operational state within 4 minutes. While operating, it consumes less than 3 l diesel oil per hour, thus saving not only fuel but also money. The TRANSCREEN DB100 mobile screener is an ideal choice for landscapers, sand or gravel pit owners, waste disposal facilities, paving companies, public utilities, etc. The equipment can be used effectively and economically when screening or classifying the following materials: • topsoil • sand & gravel • crushed rock • crushed asphalt • coal • construction debris • compost • wood chips, etc. Major technical specifications: • powered by: 8 hp diesel engine • transport length: 5950 mm • transport width: 2146 mm • transport height: 2350 mm • screenbox length: 1820 mm • screenbox width: 1820 mm

CONSTRUMA – 18–22 April 2012

BOOMING BUSINESS AT CONSTRUMA Hungary’s biggest “muster” in the construction industry lasted until the late afternoon on Sunday, and according to preliminary results HUNGEXPO was attended by some 50,000 visitors. With several programmes and sales, the exhibition’s theme attempted to address the individual demands of visitors, too. Professional visitors were able to choose from over 40 conferences and many innovations on the trade fair with an exhibition surface of 20,000 m2, participated by 500 exhibitors. Topics ranging “from the interior to the suburbs” in the construction sector were covered by three parallel exhibitions this year: the 31st CONSTRUMA International Building Trade Exhibition, HOMEDesign (the 1st Professional Trade Fair for Home Creation) and URB:ICON (the 1st International Fair for Urban Development). With new products, services and exhibitors at five pavilions, the construction shows took place in the Budapest Fair Centre with the attendance of 500 exhibitors on an exhibition surface of over 20,000 m2. HOMEDesign, which has been held for the first time, was a big success. All themes in interior design, from the newest bathroom trends to lighting technology, have been encompassed on an exhibition surface of 5000 m2. At stand “B” visitors could take a look at URB:ICON, the new joint exhibition of HUNGEXPO and the Hungarian Society for Urban Planning. This was the first step on the way to create a forum where development ideas of municipalities and their necessary partners could meet. This year’s Construma has gained recognition mainly due to its intensity; most of the visitors came after all with the intention to make a purchase. Despite the known problems of the construction industry, the shortest way between supply and demand has been found – the same goes for the solutions that are beneficial for both parties. The next CONSTRUMA, organized by HUNGEXPO, will take place next April.

www.tagex.hu – Rubber tracks

Worldwide known DRB DONGIL rubber tracks are high-quality tracks, manufactured for mini excavators, transportation vehicles, loaders and special machines.

– Tagex pads: rubber shoes for metal tracks Bringing into service of the pad-system gives new adaptabilities especially for machines with operating weight between 15 and 25 tons. Thus, these machines can be used on sites where the traditional steel chains can produce a lot of surface damages, in case of downtown streets and squares for instance.

MaskinExpo 2012 24–26 May 2012, STOXA, Sweden

Scandinavia's no 1 Exhibition for Building and Construction moves out

MaskinExpo 2012 – on a brand new fair course For three magic days a former golf course 10 minutes from Stockholm Airport will be the center of attention for Scandinavian machine lovers. STOXA, Stockholm Outdoor Exhibition Area, will be the venue for MaskinExpo, Scandinavia´s leading exhibition for building and construction machinery. – “We bought the golf course last year and have transformed it into the perfect area for exhibitions and major events”, MaskinExpo's Marketing Manager Carina Tegelberg tells us. During the summer 100,000 tons of gravel have been used to build the 6500 meter long road that is the skeleton of MaskinExpo 2012. On each side of the road stands are built where machines are on show, and, for demonstration. As always visitors are allowed to test drive machines like excavators, wheelloaders and lifts used at MaskinExpo. This year's MaskinExpo is likely to attract 550–600 exhibitors and the organizers hope to beat last years record of 32,000 visitors.

– “We believe many visitors will come to participate in the premiere at STOXA, but mainly because exhibitors show lots of new and exciting machines”. All leading brands exhibit at MaskinExpo 2012. The largest stand, 4000 m2, was booked by EMS, displaying Hyundai. Volvo, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Liebherr and Doosan are other leading brands with large stands. MaskinExpo is a highly appreciated exhibition renown for it's familiar and friendly atmosphere. – “MaskinExpo is different." MaskinExpo is our exhibition" is an expression used by both exhibitors and visitors, Carina Tegelberg says. My family has arranged MaskinExpo since 1983 and we have learnt the hard way what works – and what does not... MaskinExpo 2012 will be held at STOXA, May 24th – May 26th. The exhibition’s focus is on machinery for building and construction, parkand landscaping, farming, mining as well as light commercial vehicles.

SibStroyExpo 2012: a reliable platform in a region of opportunities From 16 to 19 October 2012, ITE Siberian Fair will hold SibStroyExpo 2012, the 15th Specialised Exhibition of Construction and Road Building Machinery. New technologies, developing market SibStroyExpo annually attracts trade professionals from all over Siberia. Last year over 150 companies participated in the event, including companies from Germany, Italy, Poland, and Korea. Staging successful construction exhibitions in Novosibirsk stimulates the development of technical facilities and scientific centres – there are several large technological universities and research institutes in Novosibirsk. According to official data, Novosibirsk’s construction industry is overcoming the financial crisis and rapidly developing. In 2010 the region had the largest share of residential construction in Russia, 2.4% of the total. Leaving behind even St. Petersburg, the Novosibirsk region in 2011 became a main player in terms of residential construction per capita, completing the most out of all the Siberian regions (1.48 million m2) Regional road building is also receiving close attention: Vladimir Yurchenko, the Governor of the Novosibirsk region, will bring the size of the region’s road fund in 2012 to about 14 billion rubles, 3.6% of Russia’s entire road building budget. A new home for SibStroyExpo SibStroyExpo will this year be held for the first time in Novosibirsk Expo Centre, a new exhibition complex. It is a modern platform, designed and constructed in accordance with all international standards, and built specifically for holding mass events, exhibitions and congresses. Novosibirsk Expo Centre’s total area is 40,000 m2, with an outdoor exhibition space of 14,500 m2. There are also parking facilities for 5,000 cars, and five spacious conference halls with a total area of 1,500 m2 boasting the latest multimedia video conferencing equipment. The Novosibirsk Expo Centre provides for individual booths of any complexity and type, as well as having all the necessary technical facilities to fully demonstrate highly advanced equipment. In summary, the centre provides ideal conditions for organising exhibitions at a highly professional level. This is backed up by official figures from events taking place at the Centre: growth in attendance varied from 10% (SibJewellery Expo) to almost 40% (SibBuild Expo). Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your developments and technologies at one of Siberia’s leading construction events.

Intermat 2012 the best ever! Intermat has just closed its doors and we take a look at some of the highlights of Paris’s international construction event. With 1,350 exhibitors, 67% international, and more than 200,000 visitors – a record for a B2B exhibition – including 145,082 identified trade visitors (up 15.8% on 2009), 34.2% international, Intermat again demonstrated its international reach and confirmed its positioning in the Mediterranean and African markets. HIGHLIGHTS AND HOT TOPICS Sales exceeding expectations Business was brisk at this session with a large number of orders taken. – “The total value of the equipment on offer over the 6 days was estimated at $2 billion, some 5% of which translated into orders, an equivalent of approximately $100 million,” says Exhibition Manager Maryvonne Lanoe. The 9th Intermat was an intense time for construction equipment and machinery professionals with many deals struck and partnerships formed. China present in force The world is changing and Intermat mirrored that: several Chinese equipment manufacturers exhibited, with stands worthy of the big western names. The huge increase in the number of Chinese exhibitors, occupying more than 26,250 m2 of exhibition space and representing 9% of the offer in number of exhibitors, reflects the significant foothold China has gained in European markets. The exhibition was also an opportunity for Chinese manufacturers to announce their European acquisitions. Like Japan and South Korea before it, China is preparing to compete with the west in high-tech manufacturing. What’s new in equipment? Another highlight was the large number of technological innovations launched at Intermat, largely to comply with the new European regulations and progression to stage IIIB of the European emissions standards. One of the key trends of Intermat 2012 was the presentation of process equipment to address the growing demand for across-the-board site mechanisation, at a time when the working environment is being redefined to better prevent musculoskeletal disorders and other risks. Construction companies (the users) want faster, quieter and more efficient equipment that will boost productivity and save energy. A week of official visits with a focus on the Middle East The exhibition was officially opened by Bernard Accoyer, Deputy Mayor of Annecy-le-Vieux and President of the National Assembly of France. Patrick Bernasconi, President of the FNTP (French association of civil engineering firms) chaired the awards ceremony for the 2012 Innovation Awards. Johann Sailer, President of the CECE (European construction equipment committee) was present and chaired the CECE press conference held at the exhibition. His Excellency Mohamed Meer Abdalla Al Raeesi, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to France, came to give official support to INTERMAT Middle East, due to take place 8–10 October 2012 in Abu Dhabi: – “This annual event in Abu Dhabi is a real opportunity for the Gulf states to promote the region’s construction companies and their innovations, results and projects, as well as for exhibitors to share their experiences,” said HE Al Raeesi. The programme for ‘Middle East Day’ included a series of talks and a panel discussion with the special participation of delegations from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

29th INTERNATIONAL TRIENNIAL EARTH-MOVING AND BUILDING MACHINERY EXHIBITION

27th FEBRUARY – 2nd MARCH 2014 – VERONA, ITALY The 29th edition of the exhibition – scheduled at VeronaFiere 27 February–2 March 2014 – presented in France

SAMOTER: SUSTAINABILITY ON SITE The journey on the way to the 2014 edition of Samoter, one of the most important events dedicated to the world of site machinery, began in Paris during the Intermat exhibition. Sustainability and internationalisation at the heart of the event that VeronaFiere brings even more up to date by ensuring major space for promotion via internet and social media as platforms for multiplying contacts between exhibitors and buyers. The Italian earth moving and site equipment field closed 2011 with exports worth 2.26 billion euros, up by 23% over 2010. Paris, April 2012. Sustainability in the construction sector and internationalisation of markets thanks not the least to the new Samoter Forum. These are the themes at the heart of the 29th edition of Samoter, one of the most important international events – held every three years – dedicated to the earth moving, site and building machinery field at the Verona Exhibition Authority 27 February – 2 March 2014. The long run-up to the event set off in Paris, with the presentation of the exhibition during of Intermat, the International exhibition of building equipment, machinery and materials held recently in the French capital. – "Samoter 2014 will focus on economic, social and environmental sustainability in the construction sector," said the President of VeronaFiere, Ettore Riello, – "with the objective of ensuring effective support for the building and earth moving field, as ever the core sectors of the exhibition." Very close attention will be dedicated to product internationalisation – a vital aspect in a sector such as the one in Italy that closed 2011 with exports worth 2.26 billion euros, up by 23% over 2010. – "In this context, Samoter is strengthening its positioning on international markets by expanding its presence even in the Balkans, Eastern Europe East, the Mediterranean area and the Arabian peninsula, without overlooking emerging economies in Asia and Latin America, as areas at the centre of targeted action over the next two years to increase numbers of qualified buyers," said the CEO & Director General of VeronaFiere, Giovanni Mantovani. The 2014 edition will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the "birth" of Samoter, that in this way upgrades its approach to communicating the event and creating occasions for business between exhibitors and international buyers. As well as restyling of the logo and web site (www.samoter.com), links with the most famous social media such as

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Linkedin are by now an integral part of promotion efforts. On the other hand, the Samoter Forum is completely dedicated to increasing the number of contacts between operators as an innovation alongside the Academy/Laboratory Area providing training initiatives and events in preparation for the exhibition. The exhibition – which in 2011 attracted attendance by more than 900 exhibitors (29% international from 37 different countries) – is one of the main events in the portfolio of VeronaFiere, the leading direct organiser of events in Italy, second in terms of turnover and among the first in Europe for square metres sold. SAMOTER 2011: facts and figures of the past, challenges in the future The 28th edition of Samoter was attended by more than 900 exhibitors (29% international from 37 countries) over a net exhibition area of 108,906 m2. Visitor attendance over the four days of the event confirmed initial expectations: there were, in fact, more than 98 thousand visitors – 86,200 Italian and 11,848 international (11.70%) from 110 countries, posting an increase compared to the 2008 edition of 4%. Very interesting results emerge as regards the quality of visitors, since 70% were decision makers (managing directors, directors, company managers, owners and buyers). Press coverage was ensured by more than 300 accredited journalists, more than 50 Italian and international media partners, and 879 articles published world-wide (676 Italian and 203 international). The Samoter web site was also very successful, with 2 million pages visited (an increase in hits of 18.6% compared to the 2008 edition), thanks also to the availability of multilingual mini sites created to enhance visitor access to all information. SAMOTER 2014 strengthens its positioning on international markets. The event – and its historic fulcrum of machinery, plant and equipment for the building industry, sites and major works – today more than ever before seeks to be a landmark on a European scale and an international stage for a sector that, despite the global crisis, still drives the world economy, standing as the reference partner for companies, institutions and category associations in the construction world.

www.samoter.it

Samoter 2014 has many geographical areas of interest. As well as historic markets in the main European countries such as France, Germany and Spain, the strategy has been broadened to include the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Arabian peninsula, the Mediterranean area, central Asia, the Far East and Latin America with focused promotional and communication action as well as initiatives designed to attract more qualified buyers. Samoter and WOC Renew Cooperative Agreement Building on the success of a cooperative agreement signed in 2009,

Veronafiere and Hanley Wood Exhibitions have announced a new cooperative agreement that will provide for a mutual exchange of services and marketing programs benefiting Hanley Wood’s World of Concrete (WOC) and Veronafiere’s Samoter trade shows. The agreement, which will cover WOC 2013 and 2014 and Samoter 2014, will include various cross-marketing activities. As part of the agreement, WOC will have an expanded exhibit presence at Samoter 2014, to showcase key elements of the show, such as decorative concrete. *Data certified by FKM – German Certification Authority approving data for more than 300 events worldwide – www.fkm.de

Exports up by 23% in 2011 to 2.26 billion euros

Exports save Italian construction machinery Domestic market still at a standstill because of the crisis in the building industry Exports once again saved Italian construction machinery, always held in very high regard abroad. Unacea (National Union of Construction Equipment & Attachments Companies), the association representing a significant number of Italian companies in this sector, suggests that the overall export volume in 2011 came to 2.26 billion euros with an increase of 23% compared to the previous year. This growth is also expected to continue in 2012, in the light of forecasts that analysts have developed for the European and international market. CECE also confirms the positive mood among European entrepreneurs; 71% expect growth in turnover in the next six months. Absolutely similar conclusions were also posted by the Construction Europe Barometer, by specialist publishers Khl for Construction Europe magazine. In particular, encouraging results were seen for exports of earthmoving machinery (+42% compared to 2010, equal to 982 million euros), tower cranes (+23%, 120 million euros), drilling machines (+20%, 501 millions), road building machines (13%, 126 millions) and concrete (+8%, equal to 315 millions). Machinery for preparing inert materials went against the trend with a downturn of 9%. Overall, the value of exports in 2012 accordance to Unacea processing of Istat data grew to 2 billion 225 million euros. Substantially similar figures were also developed by Ucomesa (Building, Road, Mining and Related Machinery Manufacturers Union) that, in particular, emphasises that a further increase in exports of around 9% for 2012 may be expected; it is calculated that exports on average represent 75% of company turnover. The economy and the construction sector in particular therefore seem to have resumed a positive trend in Europe and world-wide after an absolutely negative two-year period. Exceptions are to be found in the markets of certain European countries – such as Greece, Spain and Italy – that last Summer suffered from the Euro area national debt crisis. In Italy in particular, Ance – the Italian Association of Construction Companies – estimates that investments in the sector in 2011 were

reduced by 5.4% and envisages a further downturn of 3.8%. Between 2008 and 2012, the sector has lost 24.1% in terms of value. Cuts in the public works sector have had a dramatic impact, coming to 37.2% over the five-year period. In this context, the financial statement on the domestic market is very negative: Anfia, the National Automotive Industry Association, calculates a fall in sales of quarry-site vehicles in 2011 equal to 15.2%. This setback is all the more striking when noting that in the same period the heavy vehicle segment (over 16 tonnes) grew by 12.8%. Cantiermacchine, the association representing companies importing and distributing site machinery in Italy, indcates a fall in sales of around 21.5% (in 2011). The downturn especially concerns track-laying excavators above 6 tonnes, wheeled versions, wheel-loaders and wheeled skid-steer loaders. Mini excavators, wheeled mechanical shovels and tracked loaders were less heavily affected. Overall, Cantiermacchine highlights that the Italian market collapsed by 65% between 2007 and 2011. Unacea also emphasises that the Italian market in 2011 saw sales of little more than 10 thousand earth moving machines with a drop of 21.2% compared to the same period in 2010. The setback was even worse for road building machines (-43.6%), while machinery for concrete (truck mixers, concrete pumps, truck- and trolley-mounted pumps, plant, concrete sprayers) was down, albeit the last quarter of last year saw a slowing down in falls (about -7%). Ucomesa says that the construction market in Italy is afflicted by a full scale recession that will presumably continue throughout 2012. Once again, the road to be taken by Italian companies is that of exports, achieving leverage thanks to the renowned excellence of Italian technology in the sector. Such quality is known and appreciated by international clients but, if continued success is to be assured, it must be sustained even more by modern and efficient technical after-sales services. This is one aspect where improvements can still be made.

ZOOMLION CONCRETE MACHINERY ZOOMLION group, a construction machinery manufacturer with full line products, which ranked No.8 in the global construction machinery industry in 2011, presented ZOOMLION concrete machinery fitted for EU markets at INTERMAT 2012. The integration in the sector of concrete machinery between ZOOMLION and CIFA started in 2008 when ZOOMLION and CIFA were merged into one family. And it has been accelerated since ZOOMLION concrete machinery was officially introduced to Europe and made its debut in SAMOTER 2011 with ZOOMLION 33X-4Z, which was specially designed for the European market by ZOOMLION and CIFA R&D. Following that, the ZOOMLION 33X-4Z Road Show was organized in 9 Western and Northern European countries with demo pumping on 60 jobsites of various construction circumstances. It turned out to be another success when the pump’s performance was gained broad recognition. Practical and valuable suggestions were collected from customers and operators, which also led to the success of ZOOMLION European version pumps, with technical modification made to achieve better safety, performance and convenience. ZOOMLION, with reliability, efficiency and economy as the features of its brand positioning for concrete machinery in Europe, expends every effort in pursuing “European Standards” with the cooperation of EMENA Concrete machinery center. All ZOOMLION pumps for European market are designed by the group's international R&D force with a European and Chinese R&D platform, tested and CE certified. The ZOOMLION Europe Spares Center is established in Milan, managed by CIFA. A professional marketing and service team consisting of both European and Chinese members is based in Senago (Milan) to cooperate with experienced and professional local networks in each country, which all aims to consistently provide European quality and guarantees to satisfy customers. – “Now ZOOMLION is fully developed with European standard product, service and support system. As our 2012 slogan

says: „Ready for You, Ready for EU? – we are now ready to provide the entire European market with our reliable, efficient and friendly experience.”, says Marco Brambati, manager of Strategic Marketing for Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East for both CIFA and ZOOMLION concrete machinery.

Information on Zoomlion Zoomlion is a China based international industrial group, which has about 30,000 employees and produces a wide range of construction machinery and infrastructure. From its Crane division (mobile and tower) to machinery for the concrete industry, machinery for the highway sector, and its earth moving equipment, the Zoomlion Group is a leader in the Asian market and has emerged as a player on the international scene. Listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (01157), Zoomlion Group has been internationalizing for several years; its integration with Italian CIFA in 2008 was a first step in this direction. Zoomlion Group has also developed an internal Finance & Leasing division, through which it can directly offer financial products to support its customers in their purchases of both Zoomlion and CIFA machinery and equipment.

INTERVIEW – ALCOMAT HYDRAULIC SERVICE N.V.

(CIFA-ZOOMLION dealer for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) 1) Concerning the construction machinery market in Belgium and the Netherland, what is your feeling about sales over the next few months? Is the market still weak or do you see signs of a recovery? – The Netherlands is going through a very difficult period. The government has budget problems and there are no resources to invest in public infrastructures. The Luxembourg economy has done moderately well in past years but in 2012 it will have problems too. Belgium is doing a bit better than the Netherlands: housing sales are doing very well, due to the strong support of the government (with fiscal incentives), and to the banks, which have reinstated lines for credit for loans. The non-residential and infrastructures sectors, however, are showing a downturn. We hope the construction industry will pick up in the second half of 2012, and we are looking forward to solid growth in 2013. 2) What are the most important jobsites you are serving at present? – Our company is supplying machinery and assistance for the “Licfkenshoektunnel”, which is an enormous infrastructure project north of Antwerp. The tunnel crosses the Schelde river, and now two additional bores are under construction. We are working and giving service to a fleet of Portable Pumps, and we have sourced more than 3 km of pipelines. Another project we are working on is called “Aquafin”, a water purification plant that will generate electricity. On that jobsite we are using the Cifa K62H, the tallest concrete pump sold in Europe with the last 3 sections of the boom made of composite material. Thanks to this pump we are able to pump more than 1,000 cubic meters per day. 3) Speaking of your customers, what are the most important emerging needs in the concrete industry? (product configurations, finance, service) – We think that, nowadays, “service” is the magic word to attract customers. For that reason, Cifa's campaign on extended warranties (5 years for the boom structure for Pumps and Mixer-Pumps, 4 years for the drum for Mixers, 2 years for the mixer kit frame, turret structure and extensions) is the right way to win over customers. In addition, because in Belgium weight restrictions have been recently changed, it is important to have machinery like the K45H. This best seller in the CIFA Carbotech series is the right one to stay within the limit of 32 tons;. According to these new rules, the K41 should weigh less than 29 tons. So, thanks to Cifa, we are able to offer customers an avant-guard product that fully complies with the new standards. 4) A.H.S has been a Cifa Dealer for a long time. What are the pillars of this long-term cooperation? – First of all, Cifa is a full-liner manufacturer, and this is a very important added value, because we can always offer the customer the right solution for his jobsite. In addition, we trust Cifa because over the years we have established an excellent relationship with Cifa personnel, who have assisted and supported us the entire time. 5) In the concrete industry, Chinese players shopping in Europe. Cifa, your supplier, was bought by Zoomlion in 2008, and a few months ago Sany acquired Putzmeister. How do you judge your experience with a partner who is part of a Chinese group and what is your opinion on the latest movements? What’s your strategy for the future, given the changing situation? – Our experience with the Zoomlion group is positive: Zoomlion means investments, significant support and new business opportunities for us. The recession has been very difficult over the past 4 years, but from Zoomlion and Cifa we have always seen a tendency to invest in new models and new services. Concerning Putzmeister: in the past we were fierce competitors, in both machinery sales and spare parts, and I think this will continue in the future as well. Nevertheless, we are ready to face this big challenge by focusing on our ability to meet customer needs, which Cifa and Zoomlion have also made possible. 6) Finally, we saw a Carnival parade on YouTube sponsored by your company. Do you have plans for other promotional events like this? – The Carnival parade was organized and sponsored by one of our most important clients. It was an opportunity to have fun and offer entertainment. We were delighted to support our client in organizing the parade because shows are a part of the life, and work's not the only important thing there is.

CIFA PROTECH SERIES: full-option machines at a special price Continually improving the service offered to its customers is one of the missions of Cifa, a leading manufacturer of concrete machinery. With this aim in mind the Italian company, which has belonged to Chinese group Zoomlion since September 2008, is continuing its promotional campaigns. Following on from the extended guarantee and full-service packages, Cifa is promoting the Protech range (which combines the concepts of professionalism and technology) in 3 product lines: for all truckmounted pump, truck mixer and truck mixer pump orders received from April to 30 September 2012, Cifa customers can order fulloption models of machines in the “Protech series” at a special price, as an alternative to the standard models. However, it will still be possible to buy the standard models, in which case the usual list price will be charged for any optional extras added. Let’s take a detailed look at the Protech Series promotion, a full-option model designed to simplify the work of operators and reduce scheduled maintenance operations. The truck-mounted pump models included in the promotion are the K20L, K31L, K35L, K38L, K41L, K48L, K52L and K58L. For each of these models, Cifa offers the following optional extras: the high-pressure water pump, emergency diesel engine (which enables the machine to be shut down, emptied of concrete and washed in the event of malfunction of the PTO (power take-off) or the truck engine), concrete shut-off valve, magnetic flashing lights, boom light, boom horn, pneumatic spray hose, spare parts kit, Protech toolbox and Cifa LLP double-wall pipes.

The list price of these options is EUR 23,600, but Cifa will include them in the price of the basic machines until 30 September. The same promotional system also applies to the truck mixer pump line. On models MK28L and MK32L, Cifa offers the boom light, pneumatic spray hose, high-pressure water pump, emergency hose kit, cement mixer greasing system, spare parts kit and Pro-tech toolbox. The list price of these options is EUR 10,600, but no charge will be made for them on orders placed by 30 September 2012. The truck mixer models to which the promotion applies are the RY1300/SRY 1300, SL-SLA 9, SL-SLA 10, SL-SLA 9 CSD, SL-SLA 10 CSD and SLX 9 SCD. For each of these models, the following options are included in the price: the rubber protections, double rear light, pair of additional chutes, cement mixer greasing system, plastic protections inside mixer frame, additional oil pressure gauge and toolbox. The list price of these options is EUR 2,500. Once again, this is a highly competitive benefit for customers. – “The commercial promotion is currently limited to customers in the 27 European Union countries and Russia”, – says Adalberto Marcello, Cifa’s Product Manager for truck-mounted pumps and truck mixer pumps. – “Our commercial strategy aims to offer not only a reliable product, but also a service that reflects the reputation of the group we belong to and the history we have inherited. Cifa has always stood out on the market for its quality and helpfulness to customers. With the Protech offers we are sure to satisfy our existing customers, and win new ones”.

WTC BANGKOK CONGRESS: CIFA (Gold Sponsor) unveils the Telescopic Shotcrete CIFA, a company in the Zoomlion Heavy Industries Group that's listed with the Hong Kong stock market, is pleased to announce its participation at the World Tunnel Congress 2012 (which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 18th to 23rd May) as Gold Sponsor.

The boom, the chassis, the pumping unit and the additive dosing system UNIFLUX H1.0 are 100% designed, developed and manufactured by CIFA in order to ensure the best performance to our clients, on every jobsite.

The Congress, organized by Thailand Underground and Tunneling Group (TUTG), is a key event for the global underground construction and tunnelling community, with members from various backgrounds (engineers, scientists, academics, researchers and practitioners). For that reason CIFA, leader for over twenty years in the world of tunnels and underground works, presents the new CST 8.20 (CIFA Telescopic Shotcrete), designed specifically for applications in small size tunnels and for tunnels in mining sector. This model is a new machine and belongs to the segment of compact machines, suitable for tunnels’ heights up to 10 m. The solidity of the structure, compact size and versatility are the key features that allow CST 8.20 to tackle the most demanding working conditions. A brand new boom, designed and manufactured by CIFA and especially developed for mining and for small tunnels. Robust and at the same time versatile and extremely precise on nozzle placement, it has a vertical reach of 10 meters. A unique boom feature is that it can be unfolded and positioned in driving mode and once the machines has reached the work place. The boom has an horizontal slewing ring that allow the operator to follow the entire profile of the tunnel, at every height, with only one joystick movement on the proportional radio remote control. Central articulated turning chassis has small width dimension and high maneuverability. High clearance on front and back allows it to face off-road surfaces and serious slopes with great agility, while 4x4 wheels drive, hydrostatic transmission for tough terrains and diesel engine are other important feature of the machines. The cabin is FOPS certificated and the driving seat can be turned 180°.

– “This Congress is the right place to show this CIFA’s jewel to the key players of Tunnelling and Underground” – says Davide Cipolla, CIFA’s CEO – “The CST 8.20 completes the shotcrete machinery product range, so now CIFA could meet better the customer needs offering a full line of tunnelling products. This is a product specific for small size tunnels and tunnels for mining application and it necessary to intensify our communication efforts, above all in qualified contests like WTC”.

bauma 2013: Indonesia selected as the partner country Indonesia has a population of 238 million, a gross domestic product of 720 billion US dollars (2010) and is one of the 20 largest economies in the world. The country’s building industry is booming and in the raw materials sector, too, major investment is scheduled for the medium term – all of which are good reasons why bauma should focus more closely on this economic region and the exciting opportunities it offers for the future. Consequently, Indonesia has been chosen as the partner country for the next edition of bauma, the world’s largest trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment, which takes place from April 15 to 21, 2013 in Munich. The aim is to leverage Indonesia’s significant business potential for the international construction machinery, building materials machinery and mining machinery industry. A co-initiator of the partner country concept of bauma, along with Messe München, is the German Engineering Federation, VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau). The concept was first implemented in 2001, and each time it offers the chosen country many benefits. So, too, at bauma 2013: The representatives from Indonesia will have the opportunity, in the lecture program, to present their country to the trade audience as an investment location and partner for upcoming projects. As well as an "Indonesia Forum", during the entire show there will also be an "Indonesia Business Lounge", presented by the VDMA. Here bauma exhibitors and visitors can come together to discuss the partner country and projects. There is no shortage of projects to discuss: Indonesia’s GDP has after all been growing steadily for years, in 2011 again by 6.2 percent. At the same time, in 2010, the building industry turned in above-average real growth of seven percent. Investment is expanding in almost all areas, project activity is also increasing. By 2025 the government wants to invest 465 billion US dollars in expanding the infrastructure, in oil, coal and gas extraction and in the "electrification" of the country. According to government plans, by 2014 projects worth 160 billion euros are to be implemented. The number of building companies is rising steadily – in Jakarta alone around 450 large-sized building firms are registered. Around 60 percent of the building activity is concentrated on the island of Java.

About bauma bauma, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment, takes place from 15 to 21 April 2013 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. SIMA ACHIEVES 75% OF TURNOVER THROUGH ITS B2B WEBSITE The SIMA B2B website has enjoyed such great success since its launch two years ago that online sales currently account for 75% of the turnover of the Granada-based company. This tool offers multiple services to make procedures considerably more user-friendly for clients. In the words of Antonio Muñoz, Financial Director at SIMA, “the success of the website revolves round the product information we offer and the ease with which clients can order parts. The client can indicate on a graph exactly what he requires, see what he is ordering and observe the technical features”. This system has significantly reduced errors while placing orders and has allowed the company to free administrative staff from much of the routine work, enabling them to devote more time to customer service. However, it has not been an easy path to the current situation. – “The first six months were hard because we belong to a very traditional sector and clients were used to using the telephone and fax. Little by little we familiarised them with the process and trained our staff to help them come to grips with the online system. It has been an incredible effort, but one that has been very worthwhile and we continue to add enhancements”, points out Antonio Muñoz. Benefits of the B2B website This is a channel of great utility that enables the client to carry out a number of operations: acquire machinery and parts, access comprehensive information on products and orders, consult delivery status and obtain customised offers. It provides a valuable source of visual information, with over 100 videos (5,000 visits to date) on the operation of machines, how to carry out maintenance, etc. “Moreover, on the B2B website, the client enjoys a 2% discount on purchases, which is a great incentive”, says the Financial Director of SIMA. International clients, such as ZAKLAD PRODUKCYJNO HANDLOWY (Krakow, Poland), are very satisfied. Piotr Winiarski points out that “we have been working with SIMA for years and we are very happy with them. The B2B website is excellent. It has never given us any problem when placing orders nor are there any errors in response times. Moreover, the 2% discount is very attractive”. This tool provides benefits for the client and also aids the smooth running of the company, due to the fact that it is integrated into the SAP platform. This

enables data to enter the system directly, thereby enhancing sales planning and consequently reducing lead times, which can be as low as 24 hours in Spain and Europe. The reaction in Spain is equally positive. Javier Molina, of MAQUINARIA Y SERVICIOS GARMO (Jaén), confirms that “it works very well. It is practical and useful. We do all our purchasing online and the orders always reach us on time”. In addition, the SIMA website provides a shop window that showcases all new product launches and ranges and gives relevant data to facilitate the client with in-depth product information. “For example, we have updated the range of floor and table saws and this is indicated immediately on entering the website”, says Antonio Muñoz. In this way, there is easy, instant access to the machines and their technical features. The Purchasing Department of METALÚRGICA ANDALUZA DE ALQUILERES (Granada), which uses the website to acquire machines, core bits and blades, agrees on this point: “the products are easy to find and the website is extremely useful”. International success Thanks to its great commitment to improvement, with this and other initiatives geared to the internationalisation of the company, SIMA is reaping the benefits of its efforts. Exportation is now a great strength of the company and although SIMA boasts many loyal clients in Spain, Latin American and Arab countries currently represent its largest markets. As regards Spain, “sales of parts and blades have increased by 60%, because in these times of crisis, people opt to repair rather than buy new machinery. Orders tend to be small but very regular”, adds Antonio Muñoz . Enhancements to the website The SIMA B2B website is a dynamic tool that is constantly updated. “We are working on a number of areas to further enhance this tool, because the key to the future of online distribution lies in the development of the channel”, emphasises the Financial Director of SIMA. Highlights of improvements carried out to the website are: the inclusion of more languages to supplement the existing three (English, French and Spanish); new functions (an option for the configuration of machines to facilitate client decision-making is currently being developed); and enhancements to website use, such as a section where clients can advertise and sell used SIMA machinery to other clients.

GRUPO SIMA: Innovation and service SIMA, S.A. is a family owned group of companies founded in Granada in southern Spain. The company has 40 years of experience in the design and production of light construction machinery. It is the market leader in Spain and is amongst the three leading European manufacturers. It has an annual production capacity of over 25,000 units, including building material cutters, pavement and surface treatment machines and rebar cutting and bending machines. SIMA has a total manufacturing area of 30,000 m2. Its professional sales team enables SIMA to export 75% of its production to 52 different countries worldwide. The main competitive advantages of this innovative group are: the high quality of its products, constant innovation, and the unbeatable customer service born of the customisation and dedication which is an absolute priority at SIMA.

Buildings to be a driving force of the Slovak construction industry in 2012 In the coming years residential and non-residential construction are expected to be the major drivers of the Slovak construction market. The engineering sector is likely to feel the consequences of the delays and the lack of proper preparation and planning for civil engineering investments, particularly in the road construction field. According to PMR’s latest report entitled “Construction sector in Slovakia 2012 – Development forecasts for 2012–2014”, in the years to come non-residential construction will witness a rising trend and will be the most stable segment of the Slovak construction market. In 2012 the industrial, logistics and retail sectors will come out of the painful slump they experienced in 2010–2011 as several major constructions are expected to be completed in 2012. Office construction is also to be a larger growth contributor. Still, there is major potential for development in both the industrial and office sectors outside Bratislava, which has yet to be exploited. An improvement is also expected in residential construction, which in 2011 went down to low levels not seen since 2006, the year before the residential boom in the country. However, in 2011 it also saw some signs of recovery as a spate of developers announced new projects or decisions to resume older projects that were postponed during the economic crisis.

Although the Slovak mortgage market is still underdeveloped, it has grown constantly in the past three years from EUR 5.2bn in 2009 to over EUR 6bn in 2011. With interest rates going down and increased certainty arising from the country's switch to the euro currency (compared to neighbouring countries,

where the currency risk has played a role in restraining further growth of the mortgage markets), the Slovak market has not experienced any decline in the mortgage market during the past three years. As a result of these new developments, PMR analysts expect a return to growth in the coming years. However, this will not push up the Slovak residential construction market to very high levels as they add to a very low level of output. Residential output in the country is therefore not likely to reach the record high of 2007’s EUR 1.7bn before 2014. In 2012 the civil engineering sector is likely to feel the consequences of the delays and the lack of proper preparation and planning for civil engineering constructions, particularly in the road construction field. However, due to its vast size, road infrastructure construction is expected to remain the major segment of civil engineering construction in Slovakia for the following years. Nevertheless, it has to be noted that even in the most optimistic scenario, where most of the planned road constructions begin this year, total output in this segment is expected to suffer a decline. Many tenders are still to be organised, most of the constructions are yet to be started and a mere 5 km of motorways are to be completed in 2012. As more of the transport infrastructure orders kick in, recovery is expected to help this sector return by 2015 to the value of output it registered in 2008, before the crisis erupted.

Construction industry finally sees growth as Ukraine ramps up preparations for Euro 2012 Between the peak recorded in 2007 and the trough of 2008–2010, the value of construction works carried out in Ukraine plunged by 70% in real terms. Residential construction was hardest hit by the crisis and, while the housing sector is yet to recover, overall market development in the country does give cause for hope that the worst has now passed for the Ukrainian construction industry. Last year, the Ukrainian construction market continued the downward trend on which it has been on since 2008. Total construction output decreased by 5.4% in real terms and the construction of buildings declined at double the speed. On the other hand, the value of works related to the preparation of construction sites rose by 10% and the construction of roads and airports increased by 23%.

Source: State Service of Statistics of Ukraine, 2011 In 2011, construction output in Ukraine has started to grow largely due to the intensification of preparation works for the Euro 2012 Football Championships. During the period January-October 2011, the value of construction works carried out in Ukraine increased by 11.7% in real terms, and by almost 42% in nominal terms, to UAH 45.1bn ($5.6bn). Therefore, the value of construction in the first ten months of the current year has already exceeded the total value for the whole of 2010. Broken down by segments, the most robust growth in January-October 2011 was observed in the construction of buildings and structures, by 12.9%, followed by the preparation of construction sites, where a 12.1% increase was recorded. Works related to the installation of equipment in buildings and structures grew by just 2.3%. In finishing works, value continues to fall, by 10.8% in the first ten months of the 2011. Of the total value of construction output between January and October 2011, 79.4% was accounted for by work on new constructions, reconstruction and modernisation, while general overhaul activities account for 14.1% with maintenance accounting for 6.5%. The onset of the economic crisis and the accompanying liquidity squeeze resulted in a sharp drop in housing construction in 2009. Banks ceased to provide financing for developers, who, as a result, quickly ran out of cash and were forced to put their projects on hold. Individual investors also found it virtually impossible to obtain financing for their planned housing projects. Growth in personal income – and so peoples’ ability and willingness to buy property – has also stalled during since this time. Residential construction activity picked up slightly in 2010, although banks remained extremely cautious with regard to financing property development projects. This was compounded by the government’s inability to support the mortgage loan market to the desired extent. Last year, the state accounted for just 0.5% of total investment in housing construction while bank loans accounted for 4.4%. Funding coming directly from construction companies and developers accounted for 7.7% of the total figure. Private individuals’ investment in the construction and modernisation of their own dwellings accounted for 16.6% and investment in individual housing construction accounted for 57.8%. In 2010, the number of dwellings completed and put into use increased by 17% and total floor space put into use increased by 45.9% in comparison with 2009, however, most of this growth stemmed from the fact that many investors used the opportunity created by the government’s issue of a Temporary Order that made it possible to register residential buildings built earlier without a building permit in place.

48

May 2012

Relatively poor figures for 2011 have proved 2010 to be a one-off surge in completion statistics – the number of housing units completed was down 3% and the total floor space completed fell by 16% in H1 2011. In the third quarter of 2011, however, housing completion picked up, thus reducing the overall Q1-Q3 year-on-year decline to 6.5%.
