The Republic of Great Han; ROK), and commonly referred to as Korea, is a sovereign state in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Korea Food Culture Usual Korean meals consist of rice and side dishes. Koreans have used various ingredients and developed different recipes. Therefore, there is a large variety of dishes and food from different regions and for different seasons. Gim-chi and other fermented sauces are representatives of Korean traditional food, and Koreans take much pride in them. For Koreans, rice is a staple food. Their typical side dishes are soups, pot-stews with various ingredients, cooked vegetables, salads, pickles, salted sea food, dried fishes, and steamed meat. Gimchi, paste or sauce, and salted sea food are always served.


Ddukbokkie (Rice Cake Street Food) Ddukbokkie is the delicious smell of Seoul at night. The streets are filled with vendors selling their own special recipe versions of the most popular street food. Ddukbokkie The sauce is spicy but it is also very sweet and packed with an immense amount of flavor. The spiciness is cut by the long cylindrical rice cakes which, when cooked, become chewy and soft. The rice cakes are probably the most unusual part of the recipe for most foreigners but if you try it – you love it.


Bibimbap (Mixed Rice) Bibimbap is a mixture of rice, vegetables and minced beef with an egg on top, which tastes much better than it sounds. Thoroughly mix it all together with a spoon before digging in. It comes with a generous dollop of go-chujang(red-chilli paste). Sanchae bibimbap is made with mountain-grown greens; dolsot bibimbap is served in a stone hotpot.


Samgyeopsal (Grilled Pork Strips) The best part of eating in a samgyeopsal restaurant is the atmosphere -- a rollicking party punctuated by soju shots, pork strips sizzling on a grill and shouts for “one more serving, please!� Served with lettuce, perilla leaves, sliced onions and raw garlic kimchi, it's smudged in ssamjang (a mix of soybean paste called 'doenjang' and chili paste called 'gochujang') or salt and pepper in sesame oil.
